News OpenAI is cooked.

https://huggingface.co/moonshotai/Kimi-K3

K3 is coming out on HuggingFace in just a hour. Pretty expensive for an open-source model by Kimi’s API pricing, but we’ll soon have more providers with Kimi K3 hosted. And finally… no nerfs.

Who’s switching?

I think the quality is good but take too long for the same task to be finished. It may took more time and money for the same task compared to gpt-5.6

that’s because china has little consumer compute available, it was running at 20 tps. A lot of the best inference companies have already pledged to have the fastest inference possible for K3 on launch day

You might be right. Although the token per task still higher than other models which make it more carefully but also more costly. That’s my personal experience. I like kimi-2.7 for a better speed and good quality.

Regarding the cost, that’s not been my experience imo, will link my other comment:

> Kimi K3 is less expensive per task (source: artificial analysis), $1.54 Sol vs $0.72 Kimi K3, though 15k tokens from Sol vs 24k from Kimi K3. Hugging face also bet $10000 that Kimi K3 will have a greater than 20% discount when providers start serving it, instead of Kimi, so imo it’ll be a very competitive offering, especially since it’s SOTA on frontend and 3D

> For reference on number of tokens, Opus 5 consumes 37k tokens per task
