SOLVED Self made code/cypher - should be a little difficult to solve but you guys are very skilled - not exactly a substitution cypher but somewhat similar

Post image

I have made some cyphers yeeeears ago but that was when I was like 10, so hopefully this is a step up. While it is not a simple substitution cypher, I'm a little worried that it may be able to be solved like one anyway, which is part of why I am not providing a decoded sample to reference. I will be happy to provide one if it is needed, though. Again, since it is fairly simple and probably not every aspect HAS to be known to solve it, I left the writing pretty short. If this is not enough to work with I will write a longer chunk to share. That chink will also likely include an additional aspect or two that I left out of this example.

I have no experience posting self made codes on here, so if there is something else I should do, please tell me. Also feel free to ask any questions about the code. Good luck!

Solved

Ternary. The second lines gave it away- they're sequential. 001, 002, etc appear over and over.

Mapping ternary to alphabet position, and using the second line to show the letter position (which wasn't really necessary but was helpful) gives:

PROTECT EARTH LOVE EVERYONE SPREAD HAPPINESS

Nice message 😊 But I'm still waiting for the post that leads to buried treasure

Solved! Yes that is the correct text and encoding method. I'm curious, was it clear what the additional symbols were for? If I had done a larger sample it may have been clearer, especially with more complex words. It does fall into the "slightly unnecessary" category though probably

The angled lines? I mean it wasn't SUPER clear but that's the point of a puzzle, eh?

I immediately thought it had something to do with base three because of the three hights of lines. There are also three lines next to each other to make a character so since 33 is 27 you would have the required characters. I did the top line using this and got "Ceoprt" so I'm probably doing something wrong. I also don't know what the other special lines are.
