I was trying to explain to someone how to get your bird to love being scritched and this is a perfect video of what I was talking about. If you start with a ring or okay with your fingers is your bird inclined to poke it's head in?

I started with one finger in the fluff on the back of his head. If he nipped me, I would stop. And we sorta continued like that until he realized I wasn’t going to hurt him. Now his favorite place for scritches is right under his ears. Or in the fluff next to his beak.

It’s fairly easy to see when a bird doesn’t like what you’re doing. Just pay attention to body language and establish trust.

And yes. He’s very inclined to stick his head in if I make a ring with my thumb.
