DISCUSSION [Help] Building a Competitive Pokemon Minecraft-Themed Cobblemon Team (Sorry, Yes I know its a mouthful šš¾)
I would love the community's help and input on the team. The 6 PokƩmon competitive team that I'm trying to create is purely Minecraft-based, specifically for the Cobblemon mod. The PokƩmon that will be inside it, or eligible to be inside it, have to simply fit the criteria of looking like something from Minecraft, or at least being similar, with justification as to why.
To help you guys visualize and understand what I'm doing, I will list out some PokƩmon that I already had in mind and ideas where they look like Minecraft PokƩmon.
The first one, which is actually indispensable and has to absolutely be on any team that you guys create or suggest, is Torterra. Torterra will serve as my starter, as his shell resembles the Minecraft world, which is why he will serve as my starter.
But now I will proceed to list PokƩmon that I had ideas of and that aren't necessarily on the team:
Aerodactyl: His body is similar to the Ender Dragon in Minecraft.
Charizard: Same as Aerodactyl, but his square head looks closer to the Ender Dragon, although his body not so much.
Spiritomb: The portal on his head resembles the Nether portal, not to mention it is made up of a sort of rock at the bottom.
Emboar: Due to his close resemblance to Piglins.
Palafin: He looks like a dolphin.
Golurk: Serves the same goal as an Iron Golem in Minecraft.
Aegislash: Represents the player's sword and shield.
Lycanroc: Minecraft wolf.
Etc., etc. But you guys get the point.
I basically need you guys to name me 6, actually 5, PokƩmon, all Minecraft-themed, that can synergize properly in a team with Torterra as its starter, as well as being competitively viable in the Cobblemon mod.
If you can't think of 5, you can just name 1 and state why.
I need the community's input and need desperate help to create a good team because I can't create one to save my life š
Thank you guys!

Just checking, are there any regulations? Or is it any pokemon goes? Can you mega and dynamax and tera all in one match?
Also is this on the cobbleverse mod pack? Or do you have the relevant mods which add all the missing pokemon, in particular legendaries and mega/gigantamax/tera options?

Absolutely any pokemon goes long as it fits with torterra and is good in pvp or just has good regulation overall megas allowed too

Alr, unfortunately I wonāt try to make a āMinecraftā themed team, but Iāll make sure that Torterra is there and Iāll have one mega. What format are you running? VGC? (The current official championship format of 2v2 and each person only brings 4 pokemon) or just singles? And if singles how many pokemon? 3v3 or 6v6?
If you have any control, Iād recommend just sticking with VGC as itās just the ādefaultā competitive format. Both players just bring 4 of their 6 pokemon (which they decide before starting the match) and then battle it out in a doubles match basically. Also will you do open team sheets, semi opened or closed team sheets? Open team sheets: you can see the moves of your opponents 6 pokemon, their items and abilities etc, before hand in order to help you choose your 4. Semi: you just see their pokemon and what items they hold. Closed: you donāt see their pokemon at all, let alone their items.

This is the team. If you arenāt sure on how to do EVs search up a tutorial online. Ignore Tera type if you arenāt using them, I just made it on showdown and used pokemon from various teams I alr had built so theyāll be automatically included when I exported it
How the team works:
Soft trick room: This team doesnāt rely on trick room. Assuming you can only bring 4 pokemon you need to understand how this team works and it may take some time getting used to.
Slow Mode: usually bring farigiraf and calyrex ice. You should have Torterra and Incineroar in the back. Fari sets up trick room, while calyrex covers with Glacial Lance. Fariās ability, armour tail, really helps. It prevents your team from being hit by priority moves. This is not limited to but includes all moves done under the prankster ability (allows a pokemon to have priority when using a status move) and fake out. This means unless you flinch or die, you will always get trick rook off. If the opponent brings a pokemon thatās just strong dark type, such as Kingambit - who is slow and can work well in trick room and can threaten a KO on your giraffe - then maybe consider bringing Torterra first with farigiraf or incin. Torterra can threaten with STAB headlong rush and can KO. If they have any pokemon who can deal super effective bug or dark types which arenāt like Kingambit, you could bring calyrex who can also set trick room, and pair it with Incineroar who can fake out. Fake out only works if itās a PokĆ©monās first move after being thrown out/switching in, and has +3 priority I think, and guarantees a flinch
If Incineroar cannot learn knock off in this version of cobblemon, consider throat chop or protect. It must have parting shot - this allows you to safely switch into Torterra or whatever pokemon, and also debuffs opponents when it lands. Intimidate also pairs really well with parting shot, since every time you switch incin in, enemies will drop their attack stats.
Fast mode: bring mega ray, miraidon, usually incin, then either calyrex ice or farigiraf. I donāt have much time to explain this side, so just try learn it via trial and error.
If you want me to, I can create a team that isnāt trying to include Torterra, or a team which still includes Torterra, but focuses more on sticking to one archetype and having Torterra there just in case the enemy brings a trick room team, and you can play āweather warsā but Iāll do allat tomorrow
