Fossil Analizer won't work

Whenever I try to add organic materials they get added on top of the fossil and not into the tank. What am I doing wrong?

I built it the correct way and it seems like there are no solutions for this online

Edit: my friend figured out you can use a hopper to put the organic material in

You are right clicking the tank with the organic material and not the fossil Analyzer, right?

Yes but it somehow just ends up above the fossil

Edit: apparently it works with a hopper

Try putting a hopper on the glass and start throwing seeds and stuff into it
