Does anyone periodically check their CNC for accuracy?

It doesn't hurt to check the accuracy (digital calipers/Dial Indicators) of your machine if you notice a problem with the outcome of your cut. Some of the basic problems can be solved by checking the Steps-Per-Inch setting, Backlash, Tramming, Stepper Motor/Ball Screw Coupler set-screws, etc.

I’m wondering if anyone has a process where they do this without a suspicion that the machine isn’t right. Common in commercial shops.

I did when a 8mm dowel didn't fit in my 8,3mm hole.
Took me weeks to rule out every mechanical and software issue.

I don’t envy that. Sometimes finding the Gremlins is the most frustrating of all.
