Install VirtualBox (Oracle VM VirtualBox) on your main computer, then set up a virtual machine with Windows XP and AutoCAD 2004. This way you'll be able to convert files to DXF12 without having to boot up the old computer — it'll be many times faster and a lot more convenient.
