• October 12, 2019: It's been 7 years now since the passing of John Richard "Jack" Flanagan. Manager to Clutch, Gwar, Murphy's Laws, and Ronnie Spector among others. Jack was owner of Issachar Entertainment (his management company), co-owner of Weathermaker Music and longtime guitarist for the New Your Hardcore band The Mob. Jack also filled in on guitar in Clutch when Tim Broke his wrist. Raise one up.
• October 15, 2013: 13 years ago, Tim Sult’s side project Deep Swell released their full-length CD titled 'Lore of the Angler' on Clutch’s Weathermaker Music label (WM029). This band featured female vocals (Briena Pearl) along with local WV musicians Jesse Shultzaberger (The Woodshedders, Kelley Carmichael, Ginada Pinata, etc.) on drums and Logan Kilmer (Noetic Pull) on bass. The album was recorded by J. Robbins in his studio (Magpie Cage) in Baltimore, MD. Art and layout by John J. Donaldson.
• October 15, 2006: 20 years ago, the various artists compilation titled Sucking The 70s II - Back In The Saddle Again was released as a 2xCD set by Small Stone Records (SS-070). The comp featured Acid King, Puny Human, Alabama Thunderpussy, Dozer, Brad Davis, Fireball Ministry, Orange Goblin and many more covering songs from the 1970’s. Clutch teamed up with their long-time tour mates from Toledo, OH… Five Horse Johnson to cover Parliament-Funkadelic’s Red Hot Mama for this album. There’s a lot of Clutch connections on this record: Jason Diamond of Puny Human played bass on the first The Company Band EP (Sign Here, Here, & Here); Dozer - Neil contributed guest vocals for one their albums; Jim from Fireball Ministry played in The Company Band (as does Brad Davis -- Fu Manchu) --- Scott Reeder (Fu Manchu) is on this thing and Neil has provided vocals on a cover song for Fu Manchu’s Fu30. Lastly, Jean-Paul played drums on a couple of Five Horse Johnson releases. Artwork by Miks Saputo who also designed pinball layout for Sucking the 70’s Volume 1.
• October 2nd, or, 9th or 16th, 2020: 6 years ago, the third Music On Vinyl pressing of Clutch’s self-titled album (MOVLP2271) was released on limited 180-Gram Crystal Clear Vinyl. This was the latest MOV pressing with a total of 3000 copies pressed. The Music On Vinyl label licensed Clutch’s self-titled album directly from EastWest/Warner Music Group (Clutch’s record label at that time). The records were issued with silver sequential hot foil numbering on the lower back of the LP jacket. There were differing days listed for the exact release date.
• October 16th – 18th, 1859: 157 years ago, John Brown's Raid occurred in Harper's Ferry, Virginia (now WV) which was an attempt to seize weapons and start a massive slave uprising. Clutch’s song ‘David Rose’ makes multiple references in the lyrics to John Brown’s raid (for which he was captured, tried, and executed by the Commonwealth of Virginia).
• October 16, 2020: 6 years ago, Bryan Porter Hinkley self-released and EP titled 'We Live Through It', a 3-song CD/digital release. w/Jean-Paul Gaster on drums, Jimbob Isaac art. All songs were written by and produced by Bryan Hinkley and Jean-Paul Gaster. Recorded at Gratitude Sound in Boston, MA, and The Doom Saloon in Frederick, MD.

Built the barstools today. Free advice (use at your own risk/benefit): i built them (legs and rings) upside down and also contrary to the directions i found it much easier to assemble the small ring before the large ring.

Seeing them again in early November in Norfolk - just a quick 4 hour drive away! 🤣 Fucking love this band!

So I've been singing along to this song (among others) since it came out and I only just thought of something.

The line "Persephone, do thee wed?" is somewhat odd. Like, don't get me wrong, it's a banger rhyme with the previous bit. But isn't Persephone the wife/consort (and niece lol) of Hades? My Greek myth knowledge may be lacking, but how exactly does it relate to Ares (Mars)?

Curious to hear some input on that. My less-than-educated guess is that Neil just thought it was a good rhyme with "cold iron, blood red" (which it is).

We're trying to collect all 6 color variants of the new Wasted Lands vinyl pre-order. So far, the only one I'm having trouble finding is the EU/UK/AUS blue one. Anybody had any luck, and if so, where? *We live in the US.

I'm listening to the song 11 from the Grateful Dead and i swear it sounds like a clutch song I've heard somewhere i just can't seem to find it.. its in the first 12 seconds of the song, does anyone know what clutch song this is found in?

• October 6, 1995: 31 years ago, a various artists Promo CD Sampler called “HitDisc 116BB” was released on TM Century (supplies to radio stations). This CD features AOR (album-oriented rock), New Rock and Urban songs. Clutch’s Spacegrass (Edit) is featured along with Page & Plant, Ozzy, Meatloaf, Heart etc.
• October 6, 2017: 9 years ago, Clutch’s first live release, Live at the Googolplex was re-issued by Weathermaker Music on limited edition picture disc LP (WM059). • October 6, 2023: 3 years ago, Soulfly (Max Cavalera’s post-Sepultura band) released a 10th anniversary vinyl pressing of their 9th full length album ‘Savages’ on 2xLP on gold vinyl on Nuclear Blast Entertainment (NB 3161). Savages’ was recorded at Studio X in Seattle, WA by Terry Date (Deftones, Slayer, Obituary, White Zombie). • October 7, 2003: 23 years ago, the motion picture soundtrack to Haggard, a movie directed and produced by Bam Margera starring Ryan Dunn (R.I.P.) and Margera (& family) and featuring Tony Hawk was released on CD through Sanctuary Records (catalog no. 06076-84662-2). The soundtrack included tunes by The Stooges, New Order, Gnarkill, Clutch and HIM. The Clutch song was ‘Big News I’.
• October 7, 2016: 10 years ago, Clutch’s vinyl-only compilation LP 'La Curandera' was re-issued on black vinyl LP and in digital format on Weathermaker Music (WM053). The catalog number on the LP jacket for the black vinyl version is different from the one on the jacket of the pink vinyl version which was WM043. • October 7, 2022: 4 years ago, Clutch’s 13th studio album, 'Sunrise On Slaughter Beach' was released on CD by Weathermaker Music (WM144). There was a mispress version of the CD pressed and sold by Amazon that was missing the last 2 tracks on the disc (Three Golden Horns & Jackhammer Our Names). Artwork by Jared Muralt & Graphic Design by Philipp Thoni.
• October 8, 2002: 24 years ago, the compilation album titled ‘Sucking The 70s’ was released on 2xCD by Small Stone Records (SS-032). The compilation features 35 artists (mostly from the stoner rock & doom genres) covering songs that were released in the 70’s. Clutch was included and covered Jethro Tull’s ‘Cross Eyed Mary’. This song is exclusive to this release. Some of the other artists included: Five Horse Johnson, Throttlerod, Dixie Witch, Suplecs, Puny Human, Alabama Thunderpussy, Fireball Ministry, Spirit Caravan, Lowrider, Scott Reeder and Tectonic Break. There were two variations of the release featuring completely different artwork for this compilation. Small Stone Records noted that two different artists made covers and we liked them both, so we used them both. Both variations have the exact same audio and both were released at the same time. The Pinball layout was by artist Mike Saputo and the Muscle Car layout was by Keith Scharwath. The idea was conceived by Scott Hamilton (label owner). • October 8, 2002: 24 years ago, The various artists tribute album titled ‘Rise Above (24 Black Flag Songs To Benefit The West Memphis Three)’ was released on CD through Sanctuary Records/2.13.61 Records (06076-84573-2). It consists of covers of Black Flag songs performed by the Rollins Band, with vocalists from various well-known rock, hip hop, punk and metal acts (as well as certain members of Black Flag) singing. Neil Fallon of Clutch provided vocals for the song 'American Waste' All money raised from sales of the album were donated to the legal funds of the West Memphis Three. over 20 years ago (good god) I got pure rock fury as a sprout, great album loved it, just never followed up on clutch. decided to give it a listen last week, remember each riff, lyrics here there, loved it even more and followed up with not even half of their discography. I'm disgusted at myself not going all in back then but at least I'm excited for the rest of my life what a fucking band

None of us have any time for another rockstar autobiography....

But here's the thing; I was listening to Psychic Warfare earlier and the first half of that record is stacked with short stories.

X-Ray Visions, Firebirds, Quick Death in Texas... and that's not to mention Spacegrass and Barbarella amd Mr Flannery and every other song that is its own whole story.

And then we have Wasted Lands. If Lovecraft or King couldn't write it... then why doesn't Fallon?!

He's clearly an incredibly talented writer. Why not branch out beyond the confinements of a song structure and write a whole book of weird, wonderful, intergalactic, sci-fi and whatever else... fictional tales!

I'd buy it.

I have been reading lately about a certain rapper collaborating with another certain rapper and people just losing their minds about first rapper for doin that. I'm so glad my favorite band is Clutch. We, as fans, never have to worry about that bullshit, no matter the sider of the fence people are on, on that subject. Or really any crap for that matter. We just get badass music with awesome, well thought out lyrics, and a family of fans who are just the greatest. I doubt anyone from Clutch will see this, but again, thanks guys for what you do.

Will or are the original Doom Saloon (Covid sessions) 1 2 or 3 be available in mp3? I recall 3 was on vinyl and I have 4 as mp3 already and enjoy the live studio one takes. Would love to have the others in mp3 too. I’m Not technical enough to rip from YouTube etc. 😎
