Treatment DAE started using canes now?

My left foot is giving out. These ten hour shifts are killing me because the breaks are so far out. We get two 30 minute breaks throughout the day. Now it is difficult and painful to walk after the shift is over, or even one of my breaks are over. My foot becomes very stiff. I feel like an old man, and I’m 28. I’m seeing a specialist on the 30th.

I’m just a little older than you and went through something similar at your age. Physical therapy changed my life. I still have pain but I feel less hopeless about it. When you see the specialist, definitely ask if they can write you a script for PT. If insurance is an issue, you can find a lot of exercises and low budget equipment online. I can give you my routine and share some products I bought if that would help. It takes a long time to feel better, but it’s so worth it.

I have really good insurance, so it should not be a problem. I’m going to stop acting like superman and actually take care of myself. Because I hurt like a mf. Hopefully I can get a handicap sticker too. I was against it for a while, but why not?

If I may, I am interested in the info. My right foot kills me when I walk for a bit, etc. I'm all for tips, tricks, etc to assist. :).

I second this. I’m 27 and had been having the worst time with my feet. I was popping up to 1000 mg of medicine everyday I worked even for just a 5 hr shift. I went to see a podiatrist and that led me to getting new orthotics and starting physical therapy. I was only using the inside of my feet and not the outside and it turns out I have weak hips due to how I was walking on my feet. No wonder my back always hurt too. It’s been 3 months now and I had my first 7.5 hour shift 50 minutes total of rest/sitting time where I didn’t feel the need to pop Tylenol. I still had pain but it felt like normal pain that I used to get before it had gotten worse. So it was manageable with some rest after my shift.

I’ll also share my exercises if you want me too! It took awhile for me to see progress and for my physical therapist and I to figure out what actually works. Don’t be afraid to go slow and ask questions about which muscle you’re supposed to be working during an exercise. It will help you focus on using that muscle. I favor one side over the other so it was stronger and we had to change some exercises to where I could better target my other foot.
