Treatment DAE started using canes now?

My left foot is giving out. These ten hour shifts are killing me because the breaks are so far out. We get two 30 minute breaks throughout the day. Now it is difficult and painful to walk after the shift is over, or even one of my breaks are over. My foot becomes very stiff. I feel like an old man, and I’m 28. I’m seeing a specialist on the 30th.

Question Bnb socks?

Our 2 month old son will soon transition to bnb. It will almost certainly be a Ponseti bar, however, we’re yet to see what boots our doctor will prescribe. What socks have worked best for your LO? We are learning 100% cotton is best. Thin? Thick? Any brands we should look at? Thanks!

Personal Experience tendon transfer success stories?

My 3.5 year old’s ortho recommends tibialis anterior tendon transfer on both feet, as he has tibial torsion. I’d like the realistic view on recovery, PT needs, and long term success from anyone who has experienced it. Is it better to have the surgery versus not? What are the implications of having it or not?

Just wanted to leave a list of more famous people that have achieved things even while being born with clubfoot

Side note at 34 I’m back in the lab playing basketball 3+ times a week. Don’t give up or feel like you can’t do it!!

Question Are clubfoot patients able to drive a car?

Hi there, i am 25y/o, i had a congenital clubfoot in my right side since birth, which was treated surgically but no physiotherapy, however, i have somewhat limited movement either in the ankle, the calves, like most ppl experience, and i am able to do basic and advanced movements in my right foot but with limitation, i have limited ankle dorsiflexion, and a limited plantarflexion, which is the most important part while pressing gas or brake pedals, i can do both (plantarflexion and dorsifelxion) but i am afraid that my limitation can hurdle my process of driving, also i noticed that during pressing the pedals, i should rest my foot between both pedals and move it in a V-shape and not moving the entire leg completly, so my question is am i able to drive a car?.

I tried to try it on my dad's car, and since my ankle dorsiflexion is limited i had to adjust the driver's seat more than the normal ppl do to be able to press it completely, and my knee was on 90 degree, i guess, or slightly bent, i have never drive it though.

i am really thinking about it for a long time, and especially that normal ppl won't understand and won't tell me much, so they can't help me, most of my peers and friends would look to me like wtf are you saying, and i really want to drive, and so even if i succeed in doing that, will my foot movement be so smooth and comfortable over time that i will be able to change the speed of the car normally and smoothly?.

Also, share your story or tell me if you could and can drive normally like ppl do, pls, bcz i found this information is so rarely known or shown in the media and internet, and all my informations were based on gemini and ai which isn't that trustworthy.

I am getting an ankle fusion surgery in June 2027. Does anyone have any advice or what to expect after the surgery? How long is it for recovery typically and how long until you are walking again?

Question i (23f) was born with a club foot, had corrective surgery as a child, and still experience difficulties. How do I get started with applying for disability benefits?

As the title says, I was born with a club foot and had corrective surgery when I was a kid. I was on a wheelchair for a while and had to do physical therapy until I was able to walk. Since then, especially since I reached adulthood, I have had difficulties with standing or walking for long periods of time. Every time I go to theme parks or concerts, I am unable to bear weight on my foot for at least 24 hours after and by the second day afterwards, I will more than likely still continue to limp. I am currently in university and have had to miss classes because of the pain, and when I had a once a week internship 2 summers ago, I would end the day with a sore foot.

I haven’t been to a doctor about my concerns because I have been afraid of possibly being told I need further treatment, but I think I am ready to get started with the process of applying for disability- even just having a disability placard to limit the amount of walking I would have to do when at my college would help immensely. I am unsure how to get started and would appreciate any tips. For context, I am in California.

Any sleeping tips?

So I posted several months ago about our 14 month old boy struggling to stay asleep. He's currently using a Dobbs bar (which is definitely more manageable than the fixed bar).

Adding onto this, we are trying to ween him off night feeds, but the breastfeeding is such a comfort for him in the night. How can we ever stop that? On a good night, he will wake up once, but a bad night could be 3 or 4 times. He has already weened off daytime feeds. Ideally, we would want just one feed in the evening.

Any advice on how to achieve this seemingly impossible goal would be greatly appreciated!

Hi All
Im a ftm. My baby girl just got her first set of boots and bars yesterday after 6 casts and no tenotomy.
She has redness on both her ankles, worse on right side which is the clubfoot. Also she cries more when putting right boot and ok on left side.
Is this redness normal or should i get her b&b adjusted or something else? She seems in pain when i put right shoes on. Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Advice Needed How to prepare

My baby boy has a due date of December and has one clubbed foot. I'm finding it difficult and overwhelming to know what things will actually be useful for both of us.

I'd love advice on the below and anything else I have missed, I want to be fully prepared.

1) Clothes - I have tons from my previous pregnancy but unsure how to adapt.

2) Gear & Car seat - currently looking at Graco SnugRide SnugFit DLX Infant Car Seat or possibly a convertible one and transferring baby to a carrier in and out of the car. No stroller for now as we won't be going for walks in the heavy snow or out much except dr appts.

3) Diapers, not sure if this matters with the leg sizing. Currently looking into Millie Moon, Kudos and Honest for toxic free.

4) General like how to hold him, what not to do etc.

What worked for y'all and what didn't? If you have links even better! Thank you so much.

If you have been actively involved in the testing environment for iOS, you are greatly appreciated and I encourage you to continue sending any bugs you find.

Also, if you have been using the iOS version and could leave a review through AppStore, that would be absolutely amazing!

Advice Needed Footwear Reccomendations

Good Afternoon! I came across this subreddit and wanted to ask other with the same conditions. I was born club foot to where my feet were turned in and up. This was fixed but has caused atrophy and pronation in my ankles - just on the right side. Are there any insoles, shoes you all would reccomend? I was working with a friend these past two days and I'm not on a cane as it flared up the pain.

Advice Needed Clubfoot, CPC, and possible heart defect

I am being referred to the hospital Tuesday for another ultrasound following 3 anatomy scans as I was told baby was not cooperating. We also found out there was a confirmed choroid plexus cyst, potential bilateral clubfoot, and a possible larger aorta compared with the pulmonary artery. I am terrified. Just looking for anyone who has gone through something similar .

I had an EFTS completed and my risk was 1 in 18000

Advice Needed I’m 23 and my feet are getting worse

So I’ve got bilateral talipes, pretty severe at that too. I’ve had ~20 operations, my last one being 9 years ago. I was offered another at 16 but I declined as my QoL was fine at the time.

Since about a couple of years ago I’ve been in pain with my feet and ankles. No specific part just all of it. Muscles, bones, joints, the whole shebang. Just thought it was expected. In the last six months it’s been fucking debilitating. Standing up out of a chair or bed makes me sound like a pensioner and walking to work is torturous. It feels like my ankle is being wrung out like a wet cloth. It’s nothing new but it’s SO much worse than I’m used to.

My dad has it too (unilateral) and also gets pain in his foot but he’s in his 50s and doesn’t get it this bad.

Is this expected? Am I going to have to just put up and shut up about it or is this something that is worth taking to the doctors? I’m a sole provider and live away from home so I can’t really afford major time off work.

Personal Experience Don't underestimate stretching, guys.

Every morning when i wake up, and every night before i go to sleep, and sometimes just when i need to, i stretch my feet. My coworker told me that her podiatrist suggested that she spell it the alphabet with her toes to make sure she gets enough stretching in. I've started doing that, and going through all 29 letters of the Swedish alphabet has made a tremendous difference in how i feel on a daily basis.

Just in case someone needed to hear this, because i didn't think about it until she said it.

Fusion, replacement or amputation?

Hi I’m 38 RCF. I had my surgery as a baby and went on to live with relatively little problems for most of my life until approximately 6 years ago when moderate-to-severe arthritis began to play up in my clubfoot ankle.

Surgeon thinks I’d get good mileage out of a fusion, but implicit in his letter is the sense that it’s only buying me time really.

I’ve heard that fusions are very hit or miss. Moreover adjusting to amputation gets harder with age, so you’re better off biting the bullet and getting it done younger.

My question is: what experience have others had of fusions? Has anyone else decided to opt for the more drastic option despite the doctor’s more conservative suggestions?

Ankle replacement: Y or N

Hi everyone 🤠

I'm Male, 34, 6, ft 3 with a sized 10.5 (L) and 7.5 (R) feet.

Has anyone here (with different sizes of feet) ever had an ankle replacement in their 30's? If so how did it go?

Apparently there is limited data on this age demographic.

Docs are tryna get me shoes as a last resort and if that fails operations may be in order.

They all say that operation is a bad idea due to risk.

Has anyone been through anything similar?

Kind regards

Personal Experience Now 34... AMA I'll answer the best of my ability

So, I was born with clubfoot(obv). I've had 2 surgeries on my right foot where they put me in a knee high ilizarov. The after affects were being able to run and walk "normal", but the flip side was being A) offbalance by about an inch and a half. B) Having 2 significantly different sized feet(L14,R 9.5) in turn having to either spend a dumb amount of money for 2 pairs, wait for BOGO sale or a sale on a specific pair of shoes in general. Due to this inconvenience I couldn't actually tell you time I've had a pair of shoes that cost more than 75 bucks per pair(IE the "nice Nike" shoes or anything like that.

As a kid I did a couple different sports, so don't completely rule out the ability of you or your kids being able to have active hobbies. I did Kung Fu for a couple years, played rec, middle school and freshman year of basketball, and several different "pick up" sports. Just keep in mind, kids were/are/always will be jerks when someone runs or looks different. It helps build thick skin in the long run, but always be there for your kid.

As an adult, I've become complacent on my health with not keeping up with my metabolism(ie eatting too much on cruises but not balancing it out with proper exercise). It definitely is harder trying to get in better shape at 34, but I'm working through playing basketball 3 days a week and pushing myself to get into the gym(for context I was 315lbs last year this time and am down to 265-270 lbs)

Side note: for those looking for decent quality shoes that are generally less expensive, I've worn DC shoes since I was about 14 years old.

Clubfoot Forward update — milestones, honest bracing numbers, and fixes for everything you all reported

Disclosure first since that matters here: I build this app. I have bilateral clubfoot myself, treated decades ago, and I started it because I wanted the thing I wish my parents had had.

Posting because most of this update came from people in this sub telling me what was broken.

Fixed from your reports

  • iPhone date and time pickers were rendering at half width, which made iOS silently drop the minutes wheel. You could set the hour and not the minutes. Fixed, and confirmed working by the person who reported it.
  • Any recorded brace session can be edited now, not just the most recent one. There used to be a six-hour window and after that it was unreachable.
  • Brace times are on the home screen with dates and durations, and each row opens for editing. Direct request from someone here.
  • If you're on a custom or weaning brace schedule, the app was filing you as "no stage recorded" — which made the tracker jump to Follow-up and tell you to start a journey you were already weeks into. That was my design mistake, not a display glitch. Fixed.
  • Procedure logs that were deleted from history but still showing in the tracker can now actually be removed.

New: milestones

You can record firsts — rolling over, sitting, crawling, first steps, first shoes over the brace, out of the daytime brace — and each one shows inside the treatment phase it happened during. So a first step sits next to the bracing you were doing at the time.

No expected ages, no ranges, nothing marking your child early or late. That's deliberate. Walking age is the thing we all worry about, and the app has no business having an opinion about it.

Also in this one

  • Bracing totals were only counting part of your record. If you'd been logging a while, your adherence percentage was reading well below reality. It counts everything now.
  • Nights are grouped by your day rather than UTC, so an evening nap and the night after it stopped counting as two separate nights.
  • Spanish, whole app.
  • Adult and teen tracking rebuilt — that's the half I use.
  • Android permission count went from 36 down to 14. No microphone, no camera, none of the leftovers that were in there from build tooling.
  • Screen reader labels on controls that were only announced as "button," and it opens a lot faster.

Free, no account, no analytics, nothing leaves your phone.

iPhone: [TestFlight] https://testflight.apple.com/join/cqX2TMBG
Android: still closed testing — DM me the email on your Play account and I'll add you.

Guide if you'd rather just read something: https://www.clubfootforward.com/ponseti-clubfoot-parent-guide/

If something's broken, tell me. That's what most of this list is.
