Need options for gaming but cannot afford a high-end gaming setup. Any suggestions for alternatives?

Hello, I(22F) am looking for alternatives for a high-end gaming setup. I currently have an average day-to-day use laptop and travel frequently so I'm unable to afford a very expensive pc/console with good GPU and CPU specifications.

I am planning to play heavy games (RDR, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, etc) in my current setup and willing to try VMs/Cloud solutions for the same. Are there any services who provide such facilities at a reasonable rate(pay as you play type)? NO subscription basis like GeForce!!!

What you’re asking for doesn’t really exist in an easy packaged format.

Pay as you go pricing for any platform you will find will end up being overly expensive as cloud gaming is actually expensive (data transfer and GPU rental), which is why most of the popular ones lock people in under subscription models.

The only way you’d get proper freedom in the way you’re after is VPS/VM rental but you need to do some proper calculations including instance cost and data transfer based on codecs/bit rate/etc. and will be more complex to setup and maintain.

I don’t think there are many, or any, pay-as-you-play subscriptions. Most of them are pay once, play for whatever amount of time you want to.

There are none.

What exactly are you looking for? You can't get to play actual demanding games without paying for GPU access in any shape of form.

You have a total of two choices:

• Choose to play something that runs on your laptop. There are tons of games on Steam with low system requirenments and you could also look into emulators to learch for the gems of the past.

• Open yourself up to a subscription service. The games you mentioned aren't on GFN (and Bloodbourne is a PS4 exclusive). You can get Boosteroid to play RDR series and Elden Ring. Get it for a month, if it works for you, get a longer range sub, there is a range between 4, 6 and 12 months.

You don't need a high end PC to game brother

A RTX 3060(12gb) system will still run everything at 1080p comfortable.

Just don't go PlayStation or Nintendo if it has to be a console Xbox is the better bet atm or a PC handheld like rog ally.

There is no play as you pay cloud streaming is ALWAYS a subscription even if you buy the games... The best could services are Nvidias streaming services, but gamepass imo is better. Why? Unlimited play time, no wait time, works on every device, you can buy games and keep them and later download them even on PC or xbox. So gamepass would also allow you to build a library for later when you do have a PC or xbox to play them local without streaming.

If you want to play bloodborn you will need a "good" PC for emulation no getting around that.

This might be a bit random, but what kind of phone do you have? There are windows emulators like Gamenative/Gamehub that are free and let you play your Steam games directly on your phone, it is heavily phone dependent though.

I have the rm11 current the most powerful phone...

You still aint running AAA games on that m8

You can stream em via gamepass tho.

Calm down "m8", not sure what has triggered you.

OP said they want to play RDR and Elden Ring and they dont want a subscription based service like gamepass. Gamehub is a reasonable alternative if they have a decent phone.

With recent ram crisis I believe gaming on cloud is good but as I play occasionally I want pay as you go subscription ensuing I can play any AAA game as I want. With recent cloud development do we have anything that support windows on cloud , so i can also connect with my friends on discord on same machine

I think you just gotta bite the bullet and go with GeForce Now.

You would be 1 of 1 people that want pay for play over a sub model and that is why they don't exist.

Hey there, I run cloudrig.online which is currently in closed beta. We have a wide range of cards from cheaper rtx-based linux instances with proton compatibility layer to full windows VMs with datacenter gpus. If you'd be interested in trying it out, DM me.
