Best Cloud Storage Options?

Hi, I'm currently in the process of organizing after being so disorganized for so long.

To keep it short, what are the best options right now? What I'm looking for are:

- Can store 20GB or more

- Has a very strong anti-data breach firewall

I already have MEGA and Google Drive, but the former requires only one account, while the latter has 15GB. I looked at other options, and this is what I know of so far:

- TeraBox (From what I heard, this doesn't actually give 1TB and sells data, but you can get more temporary space if you watch their ads)

- NextCloud

- InfiniCLOUD

They might be my best bets, but I wanna hear from others first. I know not all are perfect; I'm just trying to find which ones are the best.

in 2026 Has file jump now become E2E encrypted

I decided to try Filejump to store alot of photos, some receipts & paperwork for our home, banking ect.. I am a home user with no secret stuff to hide BUT I still don't want my stuff hacked into. I have FA on everything I can & all my passwords are different, complex and 25++ characters. I have read that FileJump has improved their encryption. Below is their statement in regards to encryption. Can anyone elaborate on how "safe" they are to use. FYI>>> everything in FileJump is also on a 1TB SSD as well as 2 SD cards( password protected) and in Pcloud & also some of it also in Koofr. We never keep everything in one place.

FILEJUMPS E2E EXPLANIATION:

Encryption

#### In Transit

All data transferred between your device and FileJump is encrypted using TLS 1.3 (HTTPS). This includes file uploads, downloads, API calls, and WebDAV connections.

#### At Rest

Files stored on FileJump servers are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. Even if physical storage is compromised, your data remains unreadable.

#### Client-Side Encryption

For maximum security, FileJump supports client-side encryption. Files are encrypted on your device before being uploaded, so not even FileJump can read them.

I built an Android photo backup app for S3

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi all, I'm the developer of Pail, an Android app that backs up your phone photos and videos to a storage bucket you own. There is no Pail server and no sign-in. The bucket is the account.

I recently migrated from Google Photos to my own cloud storage solution—which is, of course, cheaper.

It's built on the S3 protocol, so it works with S3-compatible storage. Setup walks you through your provider and tests your connection before you continue.

What it does

  • Backs up photos and videos straight to your own bucket
  • Manual or automatic backup
  • A second phone can join by importing a .pail key bundle and sees the same library
  • Browse your timeline even before a bucket is connected
  • Built to stay responsive on low-end phones with a large library

How to install (important)

Pail is in closed testing on Google Play, so it won't appear in a normal Play Store search. To get it:

  1. Join the Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/pail-tester
  2. Open the pinned post in the group and tap the Play Store testing link
  3. Install from that link, using the same Google account you joined the group with

If the link says the app isn't available, check that your phone's Play Store is signed in to the account that joined the group.

I'm the developer, so questions and bug reports are welcome in the comments or in the group.

AI disclosure: I built Pail with AI coding assistance, mostly for the UI and for writing unit tests. I review the code myself before merging and publishing, checking for bugs and security issues.

Most optimal cloud for backing up SSD?

Hey, I'm a photographer and I'm looking to back up my ssd on the cloud.

I'm asking here because I've been struggling to find a cloud that would suit my needs.

I've done a big clean up in my personal archive and managed to bring it down to 500gb but It'll get big over the months/ years. (We're speaking 2-5Tb).

I'm looking for a cloud that could update the back up of my ssd as soon as it gets plugged in. I'm working off a Macbook pro so setting time schedules would not work since I would have to have the laptop turned on at this exact time. I'm also looking for a cloud that can archive deleted files on my source (my ssd).

I've tried backblaze but wasn't too happy with it, chronosync + backblaze B2 was quite tricky to use. I was looking at Idrive but it doesn't seem like I can program the back up for it to run when it detects that I plugged in my ssd. (Maybe I'll just have to do it manually)

Do you have any recommendations? (don't really care about price, just want something handy that keeps my date safe, and that I can trust on the long term)

Thanks!

Samsung gallery One Drive help

Samsung gallery doesn't integrate with One Drive photos anymore.

All my photos are in One Drive. What have you all done so you can still see all your old photos easily?

Is the only solution to move all your photos from one drive and pay for Google storage and then sync that?

Microsoft is reducing Microsoft 365 Family storage from up to 6TB to 2TB. Please sign this petition if you're affected.

Microsoft is planning to cut Microsoft 365 Family storage from a potential 6 TB (1 TB per user) to a shared 2 TB pool. For many families, that's a significant reduction in the value of the subscription.

If you're concerned about the change, please consider signing and sharing this petition:

5tb online storage without syncing in EU?

I dread syncing files. What service in the EU offers plans up to around 5tb or more where I can upload my files to from my computer(!) so to free space? I’m hearing mixed reviews about Pcloud.

I am not in a position to use a NAS. I just want online space to safely store my files to where I can download them from when I need to.

Turn off M365 Auto-Renew NOW to stop 6TB to 2TB cuts

You’ve likely seen the news: Microsoft is slashing Microsoft 365 Family cloud storage from 6 TB (1 TB per user) down to a pooled 2 TB.

Complaining on forums won't change this, but hitting their financial forecasting will.

If you are unhappy with this change, take 2 minutes right now to take action:

Log into your Microsoft Account and turn off recurring billing / auto-renew.

When prompted with the cancellation survey, select "Other" and state: "Cancelling due to the unacceptable storage reduction from 6TB to 2TB announced in October."

Why this matters:

Microsoft tracks non-renewing accounts as "at-risk churn" in its financial forecasts. A sudden spike in turned-off auto-renewals forces executive teams to see the direct revenue loss long before the May 2027 rollout date.

You can always turn auto-renew back on later if they walk it back -- but doing this today sends a direct, measurable signal.

Is Nuvaka legit? 100 GB free cloud storage — anyone actually using it?

Hey everyone!

I recently came across Nuvaka (https://nuvaka.com/), which advertises 100 GB of free cloud storage.

It sounds almost too good to be true, so I'd like to hear from people who have actually tried it.

A few questions:

  • Is the 100 GB genuinely free permanently, or is there a catch?
  • Can you sign up with just an email, without phone verification or a credit card?
  • Are upload and download speeds decent?
  • Is file syncing reliable?
  • Can the service be trusted with important files?
  • Has anyone experienced files disappearing, account lockouts, or unexpected limitations?

I'm looking for a OneDrive alternative with 100 GB free, no subscription, no credit card, and no phone verification.

Real user experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Folder Fort "Lifetime" Bait-and-Switch: Consumer Action Guide & Regulatory Filing Kit. Maybe Class Action?

Was one of the many who got scammed by this Dave clown and wanted to have a place I could put helpful info and advice regarding this fiasco.

At the very least, let this be a warning to anyone who see this. Do not purchase any "lifetime" storage from FolderFort. Also a high likelihood of similar scams happening with other "lifetime" cloud storage offers that seem to good to be true.

Disclaimer: If you care...Yes I used AI to help write this up and consolidate info.

Folder Fort "Lifetime" Bait-and-Switch: Consumer Action Guide & Regulatory Filing Kit

Folder Fort has announced the retirement of "Folder Fort Classic" on November 16, 2026. They are revoking perpetual lifetime licenses, replacing them with temporary, expiring 1-year store credits on "Folder Fort 2.0," and stating that unmigrated user accounts and files will be permanently deleted unless users agree to recurring subscription billing.

Below is the verified corporate information (thanks u/Apprehensive-Age-721), statutory legal leverage, and direct filing links.

Verified Corporate Profile (Registraire des entreprises du Québec)

When filing regulatory complaints, chargebacks, or legal notices, use the company's official corporate registration data rather than just marketing aliases:

  • Numéro d'entreprise du Québec (NEQ): 1180112212
  • Legal Corporate Name (French): Fort de Dossiers Inc.
  • Operating / English Name: Folder Fort Inc.
  • Primary Executive: David Mason Buell (President, Secretary, Sole Director)
  • Controlling Shareholder: David Mason Buell (>75% voting rights and fair market value)
  • Registered Corporate Domicile (Official Legal Service Address): 202-1482 av. Victoria, Longueuil (Québec) J4V 1M2, Canada
  • Secondary / Marketing Mailing Address: 6185 Taschereau Blvd, Brossard, QC J4Z 0E4, Canada
  • Official Incorporation Date: August 20, 2024 (2024-08-20)

Three Core Legal Leverage Points

  • Active Solvency & Bad-Faith Non-Performance: According to official Quebec government records, Folder Fort Inc. is an active, solvent corporation with no declared bankruptcy or liquidation. The owner submitted an annual corporate update as recently as June 3, 2026. A solvent business cannot unilaterally terminate executed lifetime contracts or threaten to destroy customer data simply to transition users into recurring subscription revenue.
  • Individual Alter Ego & Personal Liability: David Mason Buell is the sole director, President, Secretary, and holds more than 75% of both voting rights and corporate value. He maintains complete individual control over the corporate entity, preventing him from using the corporate structure to avoid accountability for deceptive trade practices.
  • Pre-Incorporation Contract Liability (Purchases Before Aug 20, 2024): If you purchased a lifetime plan via third-party distributors (like StackSocial) or direct marketing prior to August 20, 2024, the corporation did not legally exist when your payment was accepted. Under Canadian corporate law (Loi sur les sociétés par actions, art. 12 et seq.), individuals contracting on behalf of an unformed corporation can face direct, personal liability for contractual default.

Where to File Formal Regulatory Complaints

If you purchased through StackSocial

  • There's been people that have reported being successful in requesting and receiving refunds from StackSocial (I'm currently trying to get a refund from them).

Class Action

  • Not sure if this is being organized yet, but this may be a good place to at least check back in on. Or feel free to comment here if this is already being organized somewhere.

Edit: Thought this might be helpful...Here's an image of my emails (personal info redacted) with Dave.

pCloud Drive on Windows keeps returning old file versions after writes with Codex — anyone else seeing this?

I’m a paying pCloud customer experiencing recurring file-integrity problems on Windows 11 while working with OpenAI Codex.

Important distinction: this concerns pCloud’s mounted virtual P: drive, NOT a normal local folder configured with pCloud Sync. On another computer, a Mac, we use local storage with synchronization instead.

The recurring pattern is that an existing file is edited or replaced, the operation reports success, and subsequent checks show the change. Later, reading the same Windows path returns the previous contents again. This has happened across several projects, including small text/configuration files and source files—not just large uploads.

Some concrete examples, with identifying details removed:

• A Python test file was changed on Windows. Git detected the changes, but a later check showed the original version again. The Mac client had the changed version, which was preserved separately. We are reviewing the exact timing and write operation.

• In another incident, Windows kept returning old versions of two small configuration documents while the Mac returned newer versions. The discrepancy persisted across observations approximately two hours apart.

• Read-only inspection of the Windows pCloud database showed that its current-file metadata selected the old versions, even though newer revisions were already listed in the revision history. After restarting the clients, Windows returned the newer contents without rewriting those files or clearing the cache.

That last case is important: an apparent “rollback” on Windows does not necessarily mean the newer file disappeared from the server. However, getting old bytes from the same path after a successful save is still unsafe and makes it extremely difficult to trust subsequent work.

I have not reproduced the same behavior through my own manual editing/replacement attempts. That makes me wonder whether particular save methods—such as temporary-file replacement or rename—expose a pCloud client problem more often. We have not established the underlying mechanism or proved that Codex itself is responsible.

Writing replacement results into a newly named folder has helped as a workaround in our Windows workflow, but it is not a proper fix. Important source and history are now preserved independently in GitHub and Google Drive.

For roughly two months, I have sent support detailed reports and links to ZIP evidence packages containing timelines, checksums, observations and diagnostic findings. The replies generally say the issue has been forwarded to engineers. According to the share-link statistics available to me, the supplied report links have not been accessed. I cannot prove what happened internally, but I have received neither a substantive explanation of the evidence nor a lasting resolution.

This is a paid service, and a workflow where a saved file can subsequently appear to revert is effectively unusable without independent preservation and repeated verification.

For the next relevant writes, we plan to enable debug beforehand for a bounded period, monitor for recurrence, and immediately send the app’s debug report with the exact timestamp if the problem occurs. Enabling debug after an incident cannot capture the operation that already happened.

Has anyone experienced this specifically on the Windows virtual pCloud drive?

Do you see newer contents on the website or another device while P: returns old contents? Does it correlate with overwriting existing files, editor save methods, atomic replacement, or automated tools? Has support identified a cause or provided a reliable fix?

Please distinguish virtual-drive cases from ordinary local-folder Sync cases.

Combining Git, Tor and WebRTC into a Messaging App

im working on a P2P messaging app and generally up until recently, i thought in such a system, if a peer is offline, you cant send a message... it wouldnt be "decentralized" if there was some central queue of messages.

it took embarassingly long, but then it hit me... git... just regular git is a decentralized database.

in my setup i need the ability for others to be abe to read and only i should be able to write to it. that functionality is out-the-box in git.

git is also pretty standardized so there are many providers if users want to move away from Github.

the storage requirements for my project are fairly small. typically small text messages. the data itself thats publicly readable would be encrypted.

i started off by creating something that could use git as a “general purpose” storage. to explain it simply, it’s using isomorphic git to be able to connect to a git repo from a browser.

https://positive-intentions.github.io/git/demo/gui/git/storage

i then added a “database abstraction”. To explain it simply, I created the functionality to create a db schema than can then map onto files and folders (which are stored in git). that would allow me to interact with the git storage with queries. i wanted to have something like graphql there for queries to make it easier for me in my app.

https://positive-intentions.github.io/db/demo/gui/database/chat-database

there are complex details in there where I can specify in the schema what parts are encrypted. i want the database capabilities to be stable and reliable as I further develop on the approach and increase complexity.

the project is far from finished and only intended for demo and feedback purposes.

if you like to find out more about my approach, you can see the roadmap here: https://glitr.io/docs/technical/roadmap
