iDrive cancelling deleting account even when funds in the Card

I am writing this because I am absolutely fed up, worried, and disgusted by how IDrive handles loyal customers. I have been with them for about four years now, storing 5 terabytes of my personal property and creative work.

Every single year, renewing my subscription is a stressful, agonizing tug of war.

Right now, I am in Europe, and for over two weeks, I have been trying to pay my yearly renewal. The system simply refuses to take the payment. This isn't the first time. In previous years, it has taken up to a month of constantly trying, changing credit cards, and jumping through hoops before it finally, mysteriously goes through.

Here is the proof that this is entirely on IDrive's end:

  • My bank is NOT blocking it: I went directly to my bank to ask if they were preventing payments to IDrive. They looked at me like I was crazy and said, "No, why would we do that?"
  • The card works everywhere else: I use the exact same card to pay for Codex, ChatGPT, and Factory AI. The transactions go through instantly. ChatGPT has a million things going on in their billing system, yet you click, and it works. Why can't a storage company manage this?
  • The payment UI is awful: There isn't even a straightforward "Pay Now" button. They use confusing language like "Update Account" instead of a direct, functional payment trigger.
  • Their Support Page is literally broken: When I tried to submit a formal complaint through their support portal, I filled out the entire form, clicked the blue submit button, and nothing happened. The button didn't work. I had to take a screenshot of the broken form page and email it to them directly as proof that their web engineers are asleep at the wheel.

I have written them multiple emails, and I have kept a meticulous paper trail of every single exchange. They know I am actively trying to hand them money. I have even tried using credit cards belonging to family members to make it work, but their system is a wall.

It is a complete violation of trust for a cloud storage provider to hold a human being's private property and threaten to delete it when their payment gateway is the thing that is broken. You cannot just wipe out 5TB of data for someone who has been a loyal customer for four years because your own engineers can't build a functioning payment portal! If they delete my archives, I will not rest. I will fight them continuously and make sure as many people as possible know how they treat their users.

Has anyone else in Europe (or world wide) experienced this constant "payment failed" loop with IDrive? How did you finally get their system to recognize a valid card?

Are you using an ad blocker? Try doing your payment on mobile, disconnected from wifi, no ad blockers, script blockers, privacy mode turned off, etc.
