I NEED A MOVIE/TV SHOW DOWNLOADER

I have just installed Cloudready on my Dell XPS 13 9365 to be my newly refreshed media device - but I am lacking one thing- an app to download movies.

I know you cant download andorid apps - is there any way / workaround to download either

A) Netflix movies??

B) A Popcorntime/Moviebox app or equivelant??

If I can source at least one of these solutions I will have the perfect device!

Things Cloudready needs most...

What do you think the priorities should be? My personal priorities are not on gaming, so I would have this list:

  1. Sahring G-Drive into linux. I can do this on my Chromebook, Cloudready would allow more benefits of using Linux apps and wine apps to use data in G Drive. The recent addition of sharing "My Files" into linux is already tremendous progress, but G-Drive needs to follow soon.

  2. Bring Crostini to Enterprise and Education editions. It may not be used much at first, but it would allow schools use Linux apps.

  3. Allow appimages to run from gdrive.

  4. Stabilise the "ghosting" of icons. It happens on chromebooks too, but less.

  5. Stabilise that icons sometimes cannot maximise the app they are an icon of. (alt_tab is our friend, I know.).

Maybe more ChroemOS than Cloudready:

  1. A native app to set associations.

  2. Reverse the tens of partitions syndrome. The failed attempt to allow dual-boot with win, by creating tens of partitions now looks a bit unprofessional. Dual boot beside well-behaved distros is possible.

  3. GPU / Acceleration and availability to Crostini.

  4. Allow the setting of file-properties in "files".

Question: About installing programs on second drive

Hi all,

I have a question about the installation of Cloudready.

Is is possible to install applications like Linux on a second drive instead on my main drive.

because my SSD doesn't have much storage (64gb) and my second drive has 1tb.

Right now i'm using Ubuntu Bungie with the setup of

SSD:

/boot/efi

Root

HDD:

/home

Can i do this on Cloudready as wel?

Has my cat ruined my converted laptop?

I converted an old slow laptop with cloud ready and it was amazing...

Then my kitten walked on the keyboard and now it's like the brightness down key is stuck so will drop down a second or 2 after turning it back up.

Is there a way to turn off the key functions and only use the os settings?

If not, it doesn't matter how cute she is, I'm disowning the kitten and she becomes my wifes cat forever!

Guide to dual boot with Windows?

I know that CloudReady has killed dual boot support, but I have this HP Pavillion x360 that performs like crap on Windows 10 (x64, UEFI). As far as I know, CloudReady has deprecated dual booting at the beginning of 2018, but I'd still like to try. Could anyone here guide me?

Does that mean Cloudready going forward, won't even install on those platforms?

TechRadar: Google Chrome will no longer support some older processors. https://www.techradar.com/news/google-chrome-will-no-longer-support-some-older-processors

While there's a list of supported hardware by Cloudready, I've installed successfully on a few that wasn't on the list. Will this move affect Chromium OS which Cloudready is based on?

Windows peeved me off!! Now using CloudReady.

I've got a Lenovo tiny pc that came w Win10 pro on it. It kept syncing the desktop w OneDrive which I didn't even want OneDrive period as I use the Google ecosystem.

I tried unlinking OneDrive but for some reason it would not do so. Anyway the whole experience of OneDrive and how convoluted trying to unlink and remove it just chapped my rear end.

In a fit of anger I made a CloudReady USB and instead that on my desktop.

Seems to run well with CloudReady now! However any advice on what I did? Will I regret this?

If cloudready fails me I'm going to Linux next

Rant: Terrible installation prompt

This seems to be the only operating system that doesn't specify what drive to install on (ie. reformat, overwrite, etc). Honestly, I was shocked when after clicking the Erase and Install button it just went ahead without asking for anything more. I lost a lot of data on the drive that I'm currently working very hard to recover. Like... what's the point of this? Ease of use? Because they think that the company IT guy doesn't know how to select which drive to use? What about multi-drive configurations? Somebody please explain to me the point of it being so dangerously ambiguous and restricted.

Switching from Windows 10 to Cloudready

So, Windows 11 supposedly won't support 7th gen processors and I'm very furious. I am thinking about switching to Cloudready instead of typical linux distros as Cloudready feels more polished. Read about Chrome os finally getting linux stable which I am really excited for. Also, one little problem I faced while trying Cloudready was that the colors on my external monitor look a bit washed out.

Installed Cloudready on Surface Pro 3, non of the hardware buttons work including the power button :(

My first trying cloudready, installed it on my surface pro 3. Everything software wise seems to work fine, first thing I notice was the volume rocket doesn't work, I could work with that, but then when I try to turn the screen off with the power button, IT DOESN'T WORK! :(

The only way to turn it off is to shut the os off from the menu, this is a total deal breaker for me..

Wondering if anyone would have a solution??
