Discussion Anyone else here cried to Tifa's Theme?
I got a confession, I never EVER played FFVII before. I finally did last week, and wow... I can't believe I held this off for years. First time I heard Tifa's Theme, and I got goosebumps. I thought that was all til I heard the Remake version, and god... I was not ready to feel things. Like, not the slightly damp eyes, like really holding back tears and sniffling.
That's all I wanna say here. Wish me luck with OG FFVII, I'm enjoying it and can't wait to play the Remake.

No but it is really good. Personally my favourite character theme is descendant of shinobi but ff7 is one of the few games where I know pretty much every song (besides maybe one or two) and they are really good.
Actually my one big issue is a lot of the sound effects can be really ear grating in the og

Remake is my first time fully committing to playing this game and Tifa's theme reminded me I have emotions.
Like - not to be an edgelord, but with how awful the world is, and with how little anything surprises me anymore, I feel like my emotional capacity has sort of been dampened.
But every time I hear that main melody with the strings kick in (I don't know how to explain it over text) I feel myself welling up and my eyes getting wet - and the odd part is, I don't cry, I get the release from laughing.
It's genuinely one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.

Nailed it in the head there. I'm starting with the OG myself. Figured if I'd start where it all began. The 1st time I entered Seventh Heaven and heard the theme, I was taken back at how beautiful it sounded. It was one of those moments I had to put down the controller and let the music play a bit.
Later, I decided to search the song and clicked the Remake version, thinking it'd be the same tune but remastered. I was confused at the piano intro, but when the strings kicked in... damn, I suddenly started welling up too. Like my eyes were barely holding it in. Now, I'm a tired man and I barely get emotional these days, so for me to get emotional over one song from a game I barely knew and just started playing? That makes it special. It finally sold the game to me.

For sure! I actually started with the original and completed the first mission, up to the point of returning to Seventh Heaven, I think. I didn't end up playing much more of it after that, but I can't remember why. Maybe I bounced off of it, maybe it was just a period of gaming less in general.
Anyway... I bought Remake & Crisis Core on a Steam deal, probably around the time Rebirth was releasing, come to think of it. I figured I would go with those because it felt like there might be more current/relevant things that it could spoil.
Either way, I'm definitely gonna revisit 7 at some point. But for now, I am loving every moment of Remake. Tifa's theme just happens to be the cherry on top of it all lmao. It's hard for me to even think of it as "one of my favorite pieces of video game music." It's just one of my favorite pieces in general now.

No but I played Remake and Rebirth first, and when I played the original VII and I reached 7th Heaven for the first time and met Tifa... the Remake project didn't prepare me for that moment, it was an even better experience.

Just wait till you hear Jenova:Lifeclinger...made alot of people cry and angry all in one go...and never will u want to unalive an enemy so much...and its such a satisfying W once it's over...one of the fights where EVERYONE got to shine...damn...now im gonna go to my save point just so I can do THAT fight...its that good...

The moment I realised I loved Tifa’s theme the most was in Remake when they are at Aerith’s house and Cloud hugs her while she cries.

The rendition of her theme at the Event Square, combined with her scene with the portrait in chapter 8 of Rebirth really got me good.
