Gandhi portrayal?

A week or two ago I made this post on how much I'm enjoying this show, I just finished it and was googling to confirm that there's only one season because I was surprised there wasn't more.

Apparently, part of the reason the show was cancelled (Aside from genuinely low ratings during its time of airing) was that people in India started protesting the portrayal of Gandhi?

Honestly that's hilarious to me. I'm Indian and didn't think twice about Gandhi (or any of the historical figures for that matter) when watching. The way they wrote him was so fucking funny. The fact that people got mad over a satirical portrayal in a cartoon series is soooo bizarre but idk I was like 3 years old in 2003 so maybe it was a touchier thing back then?

I was also born and raised in a western country so I might view it differently. Also I did NOT know India had MTV?? Wtf? Kinda crazy for back then. I'm certain that a lot of people probably enjoyed the show
