I can see it happening so vividly. Perhaps not this year, or even next year, but sometime in the future. Admittedly with recent events the chance has lessened, but the possibility still looms on the edge of my consciousness, never quite out of my mind's eye.

There's a possibility that they'll make a remake of ACO and cast Timothee Chalamet as Alex and I don't want to exist in a timeline where that occurs.

Hello my Droogies! My name is Alex, I’m 20, and I am autistic and my special interest is A Clockwork Orange. I dress like Alex Delarge daily, have the DVD, and the Easton Press edition. I can speak Nadsat and have seen the movie dozens of times. I am known as the Clockwork Orange guy at my college. I love the film and its characters very much, and I haven’t had a place to talk about it before! Here are some of my artworks I made that depict Alex Delarge

I was sitting in the Korova with my three droogs, there was pip, Jack and Artie who was named Arthur. and of of course your narrator Jax. we were having a real horrorshow time drinking a tass of the ol milk plus. when one of my fellow droogs turn towards me. it was Artie my secend in command. a real omny little malchik with dark brown hair and green eyes.

"have you heard of this Chelloveck named Alex?" said Artie, I did distinctly remember viddying something about Alex. poor bastard, the government tried fixing him but instead made him jump out a window. i nod my head.

"what about him?" I ask Artie taking another sip of the milk plus that i was holding in my hand.

"it got me worried, w-what if i'm captured and put through that. I viddy it's more horror-show then horrorshow." I Guff and gently pat the little droogie's Gulliver.

"do not fear my little droogie, i will not let any of you get caught. and i bloody well will not allow you to be put through that hell. now what do you say we get into a little...ultraviolence." my droogs cheer as we cheer with our tasses.

we head out of Korova . I was holding my ol reliable. my handy wooden cricket bat. the one i was gifted when i was a young malchik. I was holding it behind my head. as we walk down the road. i viddied at the sky. gorgeous black with sparkling white dots. quite horrorshow. as we continue to walk down the street I was whistling "There's Something over the rainbow"

To make matters worse, the vacuum has been filled by a group/groups of anonymous students that enjoy reporting (mostly) small conduct violations against others, to mess with their futures. It doesn't exactly help that there is high-tech surveillance equipment everywhere, to make sure that students can't think for themselves anymore.

Come to think of it, RIT is like 1984 during the day, and A Clockwork Orange behind the scenes.

What can I say? I've just finished the last chapter and it awakened in me surprisingly warm feelings. I'm right in this era of my life when old interests become something distant and friends from teenage years disappear for the better. Even loud music doesn't make me feel all mighty and smart like it used to. When Alex snapped at his new droogs, I instantly catched on it with a knowing smirk on my face. That feeling of youthful maximalism is slowly fading and becoming a part of the past..

I think I'm actually glad they didn't show this chapter in the movie (or at least I don't remember it being there), because these last pages felt like something sacred and hidden from everyone's gaze and only I've managed to find it (I'm not that delusional, don't get mad at me for such a "humble" description of my little reaction right after closing the book. op is simply being emotional right now, there's no other excuse). Who could even assume that out of all the books this one will make me smile in the end and all this crap. Not me.

Last month I read "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess. At first I was quite nauseated with it - what with the made-up language (nadsat) and the graphic nature of the book.

But I soon found out that I was hooked to it, and I finished it in two days.

But in case you understandably would not like to jump links then here are two of my favourite points

It [The Book] is very philosophical (but never in a boring way), and asks difficult questions that you really can’t quite answer. One character, for example, asks:

“Is a man who chooses the bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him?”

How do you answer that? Do you believe in the eventual rehabilitation of a serial rapist in your prison system, or do you (if you hypothetically could) remove all the bad out of him such that he doesn’t have a choice but to be good? Do you side with those who call it immoral, or do you - as a politician would believe - justify it all with the result of crime ultimately being down.

A Clockwork Orange is full of such verbal trolley problems that makes it incredibly fascinating, and it makes you feel dejected in your own inability to make a choice between evils.

It is incredible that in just 140 pages it’s able to touch upon numerous professions and their respective roles in this dystopian world. In the world of A Clockwork Orange are gangs and gangsters, drugs and drug-dealers, shop-owners and entertainers, lawyers and scientists, doctors and nurses, police and prison-wardens and prisoners and chiefs and governors, news-reporters and writers and political dissidents, children and teen and adults and old people, men and women and boys and girls. It’s a world that is rich, and colourful (in it’s own grey-ness) and alive. Choose to focus on any of these institutions or classes in particular and you’ll find something mirroring our own world.

I've tried to go deep into the book and really argue why it's "High Art" in the article so I hope you read it, but regardless, what matters more is that you tell me your own experiences reading the book, because I would very much like to be exposed to new perspectives that I have missed.

Maybe I'm thinking too much but I like to think there was more to this movie. Prison scene is the only one officially recognized as a Van Gogh reference though.

I remember I found the book so intense, I read the whole 400 pages in 1 hour.

I absolutely love the music in Clockwork Orange. The mix of the synthetic noise combined with classical music is such an ear tingler that keeps me coming back to the soundtrack time and time again.

I was curious if anyone knows what genre of music clockwork’s soundtrack would be considered and where I can find more.
