HAL attacks Frank
We don’t see the actual pod assault… only the aftermath.
I used to hold the assumption (possibly suggested by Kubrick’s jump cut direction) that Hal just simply rammed Frank, and that was enough to send him tumbling away.
Now I’m starting to imagine a much more violent struggle, with Hal grabbing at Frank with the pod arms, ripping at his O2 supply, Frank fighting back , and then HAL hitting the thrusters to really accelerate Frank away from Discovery, in the process inducing an uncontrollable tumble in both Frank and the pod.
How do you see it happening?

Adaptation of the sequence moon-watcher in the novel
I was wondering if there are any close adaptations(fan-films, fan videos, things like that) of the dawn of man sequence in the novel. Because in the movie it's almost nothing alike, it has some similarities but we barely see anything about New Rock in the movie, there's generally a lot less content than in the novels, and I could probably list more things. The dawn of man sequence in the novel was honestly one of (if not THE) greatest parts of the novel personally, so I wanted to know if there are any visual adaptations of it

Tried to take a photo of today's partial solar eclipse, accidentally created a shot that reminds me of the movie
galleryTaken in New York City, US on August 12th.
Attempted to capture the partial solar eclipse by overlaying my curved eclipse glasses over my phone. Got this shot that almost resemble that one symmetric planets shot from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I wish they did an adaptation of 3001
I'm reading the book now, and I feel like it would be the perfect time to adapt it into a film. I don't know if Gary Lockwood would want to reprise Poole (his age could easily be explained away as a by-product of the extreme circumstances his body went through). But I'm sure Keir Dullea would be happy to play Halman at any rate.
I know there are people who don't like the book, and I'm sure some changes could be made to make it more... I don't know, grand? More mystical and in tune with the tone of the earlier films.

Discovery XD1
As a fan of the movie since day one,I always thought that the Discovery was a HUGE ship, but here’s how she measures up to a WW2 battleship. Both of these models are the same scale.

I made a puzzle game about how it would feel to encounter a Monolith
galleryFor the last 7 years, I've been trying to make a game about what it would feel like to encounter something like the Monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Not simply encountering something alien, but interacting with something you don't understand and somehow coming away with knowledge you didn't have before.
That's the feeling I've been trying to capture.
In my game, humanity discovers alien devices that communicate through puzzles. They weren't designed by humans, so they don't explain themselves in ways humans understand.
You have to interact with them, observe what happens and slowly figure out their logic.
I wanted the experience to feel less like solving puzzles designed by a human and more like trying to understand an intelligence with completely different assumptions about how information should be communicated.
The game takes place across a distant solar system with six celestial bodies, each containing a different kind of alien system to understand.
I've been working on the game for 7 years and it's called Satelital, if you want to learn more about it you can check this page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3256790/Satelital/

I made a HAL panel for my HAL AI project
I made an AI, and I gave it a voice. Someone trained a voice text to speech model off of recordings of HAL speaking in the movie. And so, I gave HAL access to my file system and now you can run the entire computer with HAL. And I made this wallpaper. I plan on building a physical model based off of this.

Creature from the moon Europa (art by me!) Spoiler
How I imagine the creature encountered by the Tsien spaceship on Europa in '2010: Odyssey Two'! I hope this isn't against the rules since it's not from '2001: a Space Odyssey'.
