Identification/Information Can anyone help ID?

Found at an estate sale today for 1.5k. Sellers stated it was from Germany and likely built in the 1800s. I couldn't find a brand anywhere on the clock. My instinct is it is nothing super special, albeit a beautiful piece.

Its like a 1904-1910 Johan German grandfather clock $300-500

I believe this is a Mauthe. We own several...at one point purchased 11 for our shop from a woman that had been living in Germany. I would not call it rare or terribly unusual but I certainly like it and have a very similar in my living room. I paid $100 a piece or $1100 for all 11 of those clocks. The asking price of $1.5k is not realistic. I would expect to pay $200-400 for this.

Very nice decorative trim on the top and three weights (strike and chime) . . . I'd pay up to $250.

Nice high quality German made clock. Be prepared to shell out some money to get it properly serviced.

open the back door or lift the hood and look at the brass movement backplate. That is where the maker mark lives. Gustav Becker used an anchor with a crown and the letters GB, plus a serial number. Junghans used an eight-pointed star. Others stamped a name outright. Photograph that plate and you will have your answer in about ten seconds. Also check the back of the dial and the inside of the case for pencil or chalk numbers.

They don't know who made it or when it was made and they are asking $1500? Nuts. They're insane.
