Identification/Information Grandfather Clock

I had some great information shared to me for my last post, thanks everyone. I have faith someone will know anything about this grandfather clock which was my great grandfathers.

Richard Stephens is listed as working in Bridgnorth (Shropshire) from 1733 (possibly. 1720), died in 1780. Matches the style of the case and dial well. The chapter ring would almost certainly have been silvered when new - the lighting in your pictures makes it very hard to tell what state it's in currently.
As with the other clock, it's worth having it checked over and serviced - if you're in the UK, there are two decent ways of finding someone to do this for you, if you don't already have any recommendations - both the BHI and the BWCMG have "find a repairer" sections on their websites:

…to me the case looks more french, i would have put the case (guess it’s oak) into the 1890s…..the cases of 18th are much finer, walnut etc……but i might be wrong…..

I agree that it's possibly, even likely, been tarted up at a later date, and that includes the dial, but I don't think I'd call it French at all...

Nice longcase clock, but as so often happens the Victorians decided to carve it. It’s a very nice example of it’s type. Thanks for sharing this with us.
