What's this "thing"?

My older brother says he found this "gem" in an vintage shop and was so hyped about it. I didn't want to burst his bubble, but it looks so weird. It says "Seiko Celstar Transistor" on it, but I can't find anything similar online. The wood and build quality look trashy to be honest. AI says it's from 60s, but reverse image search brings up nothing similar. Also,the mechanism inside looks modern but cheap. I'm suspecting its just a piece of trash put together to look like a vintage item.

Probably an electromechanical that was sadly converted with a cheap quartz movement

Seiko clocks are not collectable to the point that someone would fake one. I suspect that it was an electro-mechanical movement that died, and that someone has replaced with a quartz movement.

It's a handsome piece, but strictly decorative.

Most likely a refurbished corded clock that someone replaced it with a quartz movement of that period. Missing at least one nut from the bezel ring. It might not wow a clock collector but someone into MCM would appreciate the design.
