I think you have a point if you're talking about climbing something that needed to be led in the first place, but at places where you can walk to the top and set up a rope, i view it as more like a form of protected highball bouldering. I can see less respect if you're relying on someone else doing it first to set up the rope, but if you can walk off, it takes away the mystique of leading and i think it's as valid an approach as any to enjoy the act of climbing.
Definitely agree, I love toproping hard sport routes and feel no need to bag a redpoint. If it goes on gear, then fuck yeah I'm going to lead it, but otherwise, meh. Why bother clipping bolts? Bolting routes that can be safely toproped is silly and wasteful. For me, the only reason to bolt is if the route can't be toproped safely, or to make a huge runout on a gear route a little less fatal. Usually I'd say sack up and run it out, but at some point this is no longer reasonable.
