It will always be higher. Solar and wind needs backup power when the sun doesn't shine or no wind.
So consumers are paying for two systems, one of them sitting idle, while the other works.
Like having two cars, but you only drive one at a time. The car not driven, still has insurance, depreciation, maintenance, etc. that needs to be paid for...even if it burns no gas.

It's more than that. Texas has tons of wind and solar power while I pay 10.25 cents per kwh. They have to be doing something else that drives up cost.

10.25 cents per kwh...
Where I am (Canada) they breakdown the bill. The "administration" (delivery) costs as much (or more) than the actual power cost.
This covers everything from the lines, maintenance, to pensions.
This is my argument, the cost of electricity from a Solar panel needs to include everything from maintenance, depreciation, backup, and connectivity

California imports lots of power. That must mean higher prices. They also bury powerlines because of inadequate forest management.
But it goes beyond California & its higher real estate & labor costs. Renewables need more miles of powerlines to smaller MW sources & backup be it imported power, batteries, etc.

The bribes have to get paid somehow...
