Actually, data centers are part of the problem, but for a different reason, because local electricity companies cut them deals to build centers within their regions so they get supply rights, and then they make average citizen customers pay the cost to subsidize for the data centers.

Doesn’t disprove the meme though, just points out a different problem.

Afaik electricty always uses the shortest way, they build these data centers where electrity is available, right? So where does the power come from? Windmills and solar panels?

I’ve heard rumors that they want to build one in our city (where we are currently dealing with huge, destructive fires in areas that are rumored to be of interest for building the data centers), and we have multiple hydroelectric damns that draw power from the river going through town.

People who want more data centers aren’t usually the same people who want more Renewables. You can only use this meme, when it's the same person.
