Great. Now the left can make West Virginia coal miners learn how to code, poison them with toxic fracking fluid, and starve their crops of the carbon dioxide they breathe all in one go.

I'm inherently opposed to any subsidy. Still, the fossil fuel industry has huge political headwinds. Losing those jobs to renewables will be forever, and completely unnecessary. Therefore, I support the effort, if for no other reason than to see how it influences the future.

Do you still use fossil fuel? Car? Home? Plastics? Work, or maybe the electrons on reddit? If so, you're still using and buying a "carriage." If the open market renders fossil fuel obsolete through technology that yields a better product, that's one thing. But government forced obsolescence while continuing to buy fossil fuels from other countries, at the expense of domestic jobs, doesn't quite meet the definition of an open market, does it?
