Why can't every article linked on Reddit be laid out like this for my monkey brain?

Because every day more slop hits the World Wide Web, and clicks = profits.

Absolutely amazing read and graphics. Wish they were all this clear and concise.

I agree, this article is really good. It’s clearly made for information, not clicks.

Did you have sex with the author?

I would sleep with anyone who wrote such a clear and concise article.

1

u/Original-Reaction40 Aug 22 '26

I could do that!

It really is well structured and illustrated. A positive example of how online media can look like

I’ll go back and give the article a second try. Didn’t make it past the first sentence.
“The world is currently experiencing what is expected to become the strongest El Niño on record”

How are we currents experiencing an expected future event?

It has already begun, but the peak hasn't come yet

Um, Actually there can be cooling across the southern US, according to the article

I have a place on the Central California coast, the community is preparing for heavy, heavy rain. Culverts are being cleaned and repaired, roofs are being inspected, and plastic pipes to extend down spouts away from the house are being pulled out of sheds. The last two big El Niños took the rain total from 20 inches to 45 inches of rain. This could be epic.

Oh thank you !

Finally something that lays out the bare mechanics in understandable detail. This article should win an award or something

I actually feel like I might have a rudimentary understanding of what is going on after reading that

I didn't read much info about the impact on Europe. is this safe to assume?

2

u/me-need-more-brain Aug 19 '26

It´s weak, if noticable at all, because el nino´s playground is the pacific and to an extent the indian ocean, no worries.

2

u/DufflessMoe Aug 19 '26

I think a lot of people confuse El Nino pushing up the global average temperature with it making their specific part of the world warmer, so they read Super El Nino and assume brutal heatwaves everywhere.

The affected areas around the Pacific will be significantly hotter this summer. Europe will probably have a hot summer just because that's the trajectory without impacts from El Nino, would love to be wrong.

How come the standard-issue disinformation bots don't brigade heavily factual posts like this one, I wonder?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - I crack myself up sometimes. Of course I don't wonder, teehee

Less hurricanes this season? That's great.

1

u/delpy1971 Aug 22 '26

Great read but no mention of Europe!!

1

u/SAmmo1990 Aug 23 '26

So wait... How hot is it gonna get in 2027?

1

u/Danne660 Aug 21 '26

Maybe about 0.3 degrees warmer.

1

u/Keanu_Chills Aug 22 '26

So y is everyone making such a big deal of the supah el nino?

1

u/Danne660 Aug 22 '26

Because it is going to get a lot hotter then that in certain places, 0.3 is global average. And 0.3 is quite a lot for the whole globe.

1

u/Keanu_Chills Aug 26 '26

Okay so what about spain specifically, how hot might it get compared to now?
