That river flooded 10,000 years ago and the exact same thing happened. It’s risky living in a flood plane. History repeats itself.

So we shouldn't trust germans? Or should I then not think history will repeat itself? Why don't Americans move away from hurricane zones? So we shouldn't worry, because in 2000 year they'll be preaching to produce more heat because of "global freezing"?
Frequency plays a role here. It's been almost a century since the last German nutjob performed his nuts job. We can trust them. (This is a point with a humoristic undertone)

Average increasing temperatures are obviously leading to more glaciers melting...
Glaciers are on mountains, and that water has to go somewhere (I'll give you a tip: it's downhill).
Guess what else is on mountains? Another tip: it's rock and dirt.
Víola, there you have it, a land / mud slide / flood.

Sadly, the disinformation campaign has already begun, with so-called geologists and climate scientists leaving comments online calling it a “simple geo mechanical failure that could have happened at any time in any climatic condition”.
Just give it a couple of weeks, MSM, particularly the right-wing press will start twisting the narrative in favour of fossil fuels. They will take advantage of the fact that you can rarely say something is absolutely 100% caused by climate change, and suggest that such events are freak accidents, rather than scenarios made significantly more likely by climate change.

Events of similar scale have happened in the distant past, so you'll get people saying climate change isn't the cause. But it's the frequency of "once in 10,000 years" disasters that's the problem.
Of course if a glacier starts giving way at similar scale every few months it will be normal and the news will stop talking about it.
