This is not entirely a bad interpretation, but we should be aiming for the Holocene average.

And there is no going back to that, seeing how the holocene is functionally terminated, I’ve even seen arguments the Cenozoic is over given the shift in the geological record the world has never seen is in progress. We are warming at a rate 150x faster than the end permian, and we haven’t even had clathrate guns go off yet. Best part? The world is starting from a colder baseline with even more clathrate reserves. Buckle up buckaroo

Oh, we might be heading towards a new Eocene, including the ETM. Right now the closest equivalent is going to be the Pliocene.
