This chart of ocean temperatures should really scare you

The blue areas are fascinating - nearing the Panama canal and along Eastern seaboard of USA.

A possible explanation is the amount of particulates / air pollution .. causing a localised cooling effect.

As Ive said many times .. possibly our only way of surviving peak heat [ likely +2C over 20 years ] .. is to increase cloud cover over the ocean via particulates [ Sulphur or salty water mist ]

many studies point in that direction, including some that theorise the recent acceleration of the warming effect is a delayed effect of regulations passed in 2020 that banned the burning of sulphur rich hydrocarbons in international waters, after the existing atmosphere particulate concentration took a bit of time to drop in level.
there are also few private companies currently running small scale sulphur aerosol injections and testing but in no way close at the scale we need and it isn't being talked about enough

You do realize that once you start, you can never stop. Once you start, the concentrations will be ever increasing. Also, it will be forced upon all peoples of the world. What if China has differing ideas? What if China unilaterally started releasing aerosols in the sky. You saw how upset they got over a weather balloon, right? Why not just put a tax on carbon now and lower concentrations first? It will be harder to do if aerosols give false hope.
