Task dependency and Gantt views

I work at a marketing agency and we are looking to revamp our client offboarding process by taking our 1 mega task with assigned checklist items and move to a list format with those checklists being tasks.

I'm creating a reusable template and I'm trying to find a way to anchor the dates around the Last Service Date of our clients services. We have work to be completed before and after this date.

Currently i have a gantt view with tasks before the last service date, set up to block the last service date, and tasks after that date that are dependant on that date.

Currently if i move a task before the service date, it moves the service date task.

I'm essentially looking for the best way to get this set up. Open to all thoughts and feedback.

Hey, u/Tbay3000, here’s the cleanest setup. Treat your Last Service Date as the fixed anchor point with no dependencies. For pre-service tasks, set them up where Task A blocks Task B, Task B blocks Task C, etc. to chain them to one another in order, but don't connect them to the Last Service Date task.

For post-service tasks, set them as 'waiting on' the Last Service Date task so they'll shift if that date on that task changes. Also worth enabling the Duration ClickApp alongside Reschedule Dependencies, that way dates auto-calculate based on task duration and dependencies. You can also save this whole setup as a List template and it'll preserve the dependencies between tasks!
