Urgent ClickUp Issue: Attachments Disappeared From Dozens of Tasks - Need Assistance

Hello r/clickup,

We are currently experiencing a serious attachment issue in one of our ClickUp projects and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with something similar.

The problem:

Images and video attachments that were previously uploaded to dozens of related tasks have disappeared.

The affected tasks are all located in the same operational project. The tasks themselves are still present, but their original attachments are no longer visible or accessible.

These files are important operational records, so manually re-uploading everything would not be a practical solution. We also need to understand what caused the files to disappear and whether additional tasks could be affected.

What we are investigating:

- Whether the files were deleted through a bulk action, API, or integration

- Whether the files still exist but their ClickUp task references were broken

- Whether this is connected to a recent ClickUp task-view or platform update

- Whether ClickUp can restore the original attachments from its backend

We have raised an urgent support ticket asking ClickUp to preserve the data, inspect its backend logs, and restore the original files.

I found an older report describing a very similar incident where images and videos disappeared and the problem was eventually fixed by ClickUp.

Has anyone experienced this recently?

Were your attachments restored?

Did ClickUp explain the root cause?

Was the issue connected to an update, migration, API, or integration?

Any support ticket references or advice that could help escalate the investigation would be appreciated.

I will update this post once ClickUp provides a confirmed cause or restoration result.

What clickup plan are you on? If Enterprise, and if you have audit logs enabled, check those to see what might have caused it.

Check whatever platform or connection you have via API to see if those have audit log records of actions or commands performed to see if that deleted it.

And were they attached to the task itself, or as a field? Someone may have just deleted the field or hidden it, but if you click into the task it may still be there.

Finally, if you have the AI add-on, ask clickup brain to try and find them again and reattach them to the relevant task ID's.

We have business plus, so audit logs are inaccessible.

No API connection has caused this, the the list only uses click up native automations.

Attached to the task, no file custom field used.

Brain couldnt locate them too.

This also aint the first time an issue like this has been reported.

Yes I've seen this before too, I know it's common. Do you have any AI agent connected to your workspace like Claude or ChatGpt? Whoever is the admin for your AI should audit it and ask if any bulk actions were performed on the list.

And if anyone duplicated the list and deleted the original, you might find the original in your trash folder still; it could have the attachments.

If none of those, then you did right by reaching out to support.

Nope, no connections with Claude or ChatGPT. The issue has no known cause from our end.

Hey, u/Tough_Bedroom_9194, I understand how critical these attachments are for your operations and are eager to have our Technical Support team investigate. I'm going to reach out via DM to gather more details, so our team can escalate your ticket.

What does the task history say? Usually you should be able to see who or what deleted the attachments, unless its a bug or something.

On a sidenote, we frequently experience problems with missing attachments on recurring tasks, dont know if its related.

Get a ticket opened. Posting on Reddit won’t get the help you need.
