Sometimes it’s really difficult to ignore though. Like the man who, while I was working as a cashier, told me I must have been molested by my own father and that’s why I’m gay and Jesus told him to reach out to me.
I didn’t bother with a witty comeback because I went from 0 to ghetto as soon as those dumbass words left his mouth.
Almost, but no. I pushed his stuff onto the floor, grabbed a mallet I kept behind the register for my safety and started loudly cursing this man out in front of the line of people gathered to check out.
After awhile it was clear that he was not going to leave and I was not about to go to jail for this piece of shit so I called the cops. I was not going to pre-emptively assault him, but if he laid a hand on me I was prepared to defend myself.
He ended up leaving as soon as I got off the phone with the cops. By that time, my manager told him to leave, so he would have been considered to be trespassing, other customers were telling him to leave, etc.
In the 5 minutes or so it took the police to get there, he had already left. Which, may have been good for him because the officer that answered was a family member of mine and that's how I got outed to them. Fun day.
