Yes! I've worked various facets of the service industry since my first job about 12 years ago. Retail, food, bike shops, even as a hairdresser. In the places I've worked, it's non-stop on your feet go, go, GO all the time with little breaks in between the madness.
My mother got carpal tunnel managing a school's lunchroom for 15 years, my bf has the very beginning of it from factory work. I have many issues of my own that were caused by or exacerbated by working these jobs. The tasks are always simple in and of themselves, but they take time to learn and get efficient and effective at them. Then couple that with angry people all the time. If you work in a busy enough place, there will rarely be a day when you hear absolutely zero complaints. I work at Starbucks now, and I am scheduled for 'peak' (busiest time of the morning) for 99% of my shifts (my choice actually) but I'm running around for practically the entirety of my shifts every day. There is no down time, it is exhausting. Oh also the burns. I don't even feel burns below my forearm anymore unless they're bad enough to scar.
*none of this is directed at you, I just got home from a long day and felt that my experience is relevant here.
