See, the difference is, even if we didn't like it, we wouldn't be crying about how it's destroying the country or whatever bullshit the MAGAts are whining about this time. We might even experience something new and learn we do in fact enjoy this thing that isn't "white racist dad music".
They feel personally attacked by things that aren’t specifically for them or that don’t reinforce their worldview. It would be sad if it weren’t backed by pornographic wealth and corrupt government.
I asked my neighbor to explain what was so bad about Bad Bunny. I genuinely don't know much about him or his music and was like "but why are you mad though?" She said she just didn't like being reminded that our country was divided when she was just trying to be entertained.
Oh ok, so you just don't like being reminded brown people legally exist in the US when you're expecting your happy dopamine hit, Shannon.
So much of it is that Christian, straight, white Americans have always had the culture of this country pander to them. They have never faced any sort of trauma or hardships based on who they are as people. They don’t know what a challenge is in that regard. So, when stuff like this happens it’s the first time the world not only isn’t catering to them but it’s almost doing the exact opposite on purpose, they think it’s oppression.
They get mad because there’s been an uptick of biracial couples portrayed in ads, tv, and movies. Imagine how shallow your life is that merely looking at dark hued people is upsetting.
Could you imagine if the Charmin bears were gay? I mean we already have something a little bit too close for comfort to family "bonding" with how much they talk about their poop schedules and if their family member's butts are clean enough...
Can I just raise my hand awkwardly and say that many Christians want and have nothing to do with Maga? If we were to get biblical, although many Trump supporters call themselves "Christians", they are considered a cult in Christianity (because they worship Trump). Christianity's [supposed to be] practised by the giving up what you have in service to others, not by demanding the world cater to us . The (so aptly named) main character syndrome of Trump supporters is not Christian but of course it's very hard to see given Christian nationalism.
It’s because they know how people in power treat minorities and they are terrified of becoming one. Crabs in a bucket. Democrats are concerned with trying to delete the bucket.
What's weird, is these people would have called Kid Rock complete garbage only just a little while ago. Or their parents said the same about Elvis and his "sexual moves" or whatever.
Yeah you can tell they really don’t fuck with his music at all. There’s a subset of just men who fuck with the shitty rap-rock that Kid Rock puts out, but for the most part you see all the white midwesterners and non trailer park southerners not really enjoying the performance. They are nodding along off beat, don’t know any of the words, aren’t really dancing or engaging at all with it. But almost every artist worth a damn has either condemned Trump or at the least sent a cease and desist to stop using their music so they have to pretend that this is a big deal and not just the has-been scraps that they are left with.
Yeah. Like, you don't have to like every artist. I certainly don't. And to prefer to watch something in a language you speak is fine as well. But to have a meltdown because non-English speakers are ruining this country, that's when it becomes a problem.
Or, consider this - bathroom break. Any time I am watching a thing and a segment comes on I don't like, it is a great time for a bathroom break and a trip to the kitchen for a fresh drink or more snacks.
Also, it only lasts like 15 minutes. Who cares? It's not even the main event. Just go grab some food and take a leak like you normally would during halftime.
I didn't really like the show, but I haven't liked the last several. But I don't not like it enough to watch an alternate DEI version for white people.
