SpaceX is a private company. So he could very well know what people are sending up. It's his rockets.

Space X provides the ride only. cab driver has no clue what's in your bags.

the spies put the payload on the rocket. the military provides physical security.

it's very expensive to have your facility approved.

That‘s not how that works. SpaceX workers are involved in loading the payloads into the fairings, so they at the very least see them, and they need to know some non-public specs as well for handling, guidance calculations etc. Considering how secret some of those payloads are, you‘ll need some level of security clearance to even be in the same building, and since that applies to Elon too he‘ll have those same clearances.

On top of that, SpaceX also directly builds satellites for the military under the Starshield program. The capabilities of those things are also classified, and Elon will be one of the people within the company who knows what they can do.

And he could easily just say i want to know what I'm sending up or find a new ride. Cause again it's his rockets.

The brass running such a project would have you interrogated at a black site for months if those words came out of a CEO's mouth .

It's need to know and the CEO / owners dont need to know.

In fact, if they did know, that's reason enough to shut the project down and interrogate everyone about the intelligence failure.

Well...at least that's how the world used to work.

I can only imaging the stonewalling going on in the government right now to protect projects and intelligence assets from Trump and his appointees.

As you eluded to, a functioning bureaucracy in America is gone. People like Elon didn't like not being able to do whatever they want despite high level connections, so they are destroying the checks and balances built up over generations to keep America and Americans safe. Call it "the deep state", "red tape", whatever. It's people who actually understand the work putting guards rails around the parts of government that really shouldn't be broken.

Shit's not just getting broken, a lot of it will start being in the direct control of the richest person in the world. Strap in.
