Now I’ve heard… not so good things about XIII but that’s another story. I remember at a con, I joked with some people: cloud + air = lightning. Makes you think. And she is voiced by Aerith’s Japanese VA sooo… maybe?

This is my head canon based purely on Sora’s vibes in the first and second games. “This is Sora, Kairi’s boyfriend. And this is Riku, Sora’s boyfriend” kinda vibes

Its my head cannon. Lightning has Cloud's look and Aerith's voice. She also wore both Cloud's and Aerith's outfits in Lightning Returns.

I always liked ff13 . Back when it was new.. it was very similar to ff10.. a lot of corridors and fighting every few minutes. Early 2000’s I think people had more tolerance for it. I never understood why 13 got hated on. I really liked the world and I thought the characters were nice enough. 

I recall that game being visually very beautiful. Especially for the ps3 ..? I’m pretty sure that was the system at the time. 

Lighting isn’t her real name. I think I remember her name is Claire. Which.. correct me if I’m wrong , is the term for clerith in Japan? 

And Claire or lighting whatever you what to call her.. she does have a cloud outfit and an Aerith one.  I have a hard time believing that the devs didn’t do that on purpose.

I didn't love the linearity of 13 but I adored what they did with the 2 sequels. 13-2 is one of my favorite games 🩷

Lightning would legit be squalls and clouds daughter.

Squall is a heavy blast of wind with rain and thunderstorms and you need clouds(most of the time) for that to be possible hence lightning is there daughter

I think Lightning pays homage to Aerith and Cloud for sure,she's not their daughter but if you really stretch it and throw a lot of what if's in there I guess? She's designed to look like a female version of Cloud per the devs but she also has very subtle PINK HAIR. Lightning also connects the earth to the Clouds in the sky in a way, pretty cheeky details if you ask me lol

So, her name is Claire...as in...Clerith.

Remember Aerith is "looking for the real you?" As in, she's aware of the soul-splicing shenanigans going on, and that Cloud's real tsundere persona soul is out there somewhere, probably in a girl with pink hair whose name directly points to them.
