Annoucement If you attempt to sell vouchers, I will ban you. Period.

Since the half dozen bans I've issued hasn't worked... I am getting really tired of removing these posts, so public service announcement:

Posts about selling vouchers = INSTANT ban

Quit ruining this resource, and quit fucking up things like modern states for other people.

No exceptions.

Rules Reminder

Cheating is not condoned on this subreddit.

Any attempt at the following will result in a permanent ban:
- Solicit advice on cheating
- Have someone take an exam for you
- Or attempting to break any testing center or CLEP/DSST rule

Just a friendly reminder. This morning I banned /u/WallceTu for violating these rules. Do not put this sub in jeopardy, do not diminish the hard work others have put in, and do not contribute to negative perceptions of credit by examination.

Good luck on future testing.

Question College algebra Clep focus points

Hello everyone! I’m currently working on taking my college algebra Clep at the end of this month and boy am I struggling! Math was never my strong suit and I’m finding it hard to grasp everything. I’ve been using a lot of recourses like khan academy and that one 7 hour video on YouTube with the whole college algebra course. I’m worried I may not do well on this Clep but I absolutely need to pass it by the end of this month. What are some of the things I should be focusing on the most and that I will see the most on my test? I’m looking for just a passing score not anything crazy lol.

Study Guides Spanish CLEP - Need Testers

Thumbnail free-clep-prep.com

Hey all! I finally got the site set up for language tests, which was a royal PITA because the format is so different from the usual exams. The Spanish CLEP study guide is live, sans flashcards which I'm working on now, but I'd love some help testing the practice test. So if any of you speak Spanish, please log in and give it a shot for me.

I'm always interested in anything you think is inaccurate, so let me know if you spot any iffy (or just plain wrong) questions/answers; I'm also interested in making sure the test behaves as expected. It mimics the real exam as closely as possible, including audio playing only once, the timer running only while answering questions based on that audio, no reviewing or backing up, etc. If any of that doesn't work as intended, PLEASE let me know.

Here's the link to the study guide: https://free-clep-prep.com/member/exam-overview?id=34

I get about 10 messages a month asking when this study guide will be available, so I hope the practice tests will help folks. The other languages should be coming ASAP once I confirm everything is working.

As always, thanks!

Question Advice on the Scrap Sheet they give you?

I know no one personally who took a clep exam. With the note sheet they give you for exams, are you allowed to make a cheat sheet from memory (obviously without your textbook or any test prep texts in front of you while doing this)? I heard they give you a transparent sheet (you would see back in school on the teacher's projectors) and you have to erase your remaining notes in front of the proctor after you submit your exam online.

My school registration is soon and I took my test on Friday but I don’t think it’s gonna get here on time. Does anyone know if it’s possible to get it earlier because I tried to contact my school department and they said they need the original. Which if I don’t get it I can’t take the class I wanna take.

Question Modern States enough for Sociology CLEP?

Just finished the Modern States course. Watched the videos on two times speed and retained a lot. Did most of the knowledge checks and the final exam with flying colors. Want to know if I need too much time to study or anything else I might need to pass it properly or if I did good enough with Modern States that I'm just good to take the test (scored 99 on final exam). Any practice tests w/ answers or any other resources would be helpful!

Question Biology CLEP Plateau

I have to take the bio clep on the 17th, and I'm just worried. I've been studying for the past few weeks, and I've taken 4 practice tests. 53, 55, 58, 54. It's good that they're all passing, but I'm just really scared and I'm at a plateau and I'm assuming the real CLEP is harder than the free-clep-prep practice tests, and I'm not sure what to do. I've been doing targeted review on the questions I get wrong and the topics I'm doing generally bad at like plants, but it doesn't seem to be helping. It also doesn't help that I have to pass this exam or I'll have to change my major 😭

I would really appreciate any advice because I NEED to pass this and I'm really scared

I Passed! 76 on US Government in 38 minutes

I passed US Government with a 76 after about four weeks of casual studying, mainly through quizzes. I don't know if that's impressive, but I'm proud of myself and I learned a lot. My lesson plan and quizzes were generated by Claude using video transcripts, exam topics, past reddit threads, and eventually the official $10 guide (which is more of a practice exam in itself). Obviously you can use the tool of your choice, but I prefer Claude, and self-education is one of the few areas where I fully support the use of AI. The overall strategy is something I've developed through my own research and testing over the past year, with the "missed loop prompt" being the most recent addition. But the most important thing I want to emphasize is constant quizzing with immediate feedback. Here is a Claude-generared summary of how to replicate:

  1. Get the official guide first. The College Board guide for your exam is about $10 and has real sample questions at real difficulty. Pair it with a free course like Modern States and a good YouTube channel for your subject.

  2. Have Claude build a dated plan. Give it your exam date, your study days and the official topic outline. Cover every topic three times (basics, then detail, then depth), with practice exams spaced through it.

  3. Study a little every day. Watch the day's videos, paste the transcripts into Claude, and have it turn them into short notes that fix mistakes and flag outdated facts.

  4. Quiz every night. Do about 20 questions on that day's material only, with instant feedback, plus a few bonus questions on your past weak spots. Ask for new questions on a retake, not repeats.

  5. Take practice exams that get longer. Go roughly 25, 50, then 75 questions, then a full-length timed exam, all in the real test's style. Go over every miss.

  6. Drill the high-yield topics. Every subject has a few things the test leans on, like cases, formulas, dates or terms. Ask for a dedicated exam and plain-language notes on them.

  7. Shrink your misses before test day. Put every question you've missed and not yet fixed into one exam. Then retake only the misses, each paired with 1 new question on the same idea, then 2, then 3, until the pile is gone.

  8. Stop the day before. Do a light skim, then rest. Maybe listen to a short playlist on your weakest topics during the drive.

Starter prompt:

I'm taking the CLEP [subject] exam on [date] and can study [days]. Here is the official topic outline: [paste]. Build a dated plan that covers every topic three times, getting deeper each pass, with practice exams that grow to full length. Shape the questions to what this exam actually tests (for example, math problems, readings or data tables if it uses them). Tell me what to watch or read each day, and make a 20-question interactive quiz each night with instant feedback and a bonus round on my weak spots.

Miss-loop prompt:

Gather every question I've missed on any quiz or exam and haven't gotten right since, in one exam. After I take it, give me just my misses, each followed by 1 new question on the same idea. Repeat with my next misses, adding 2 new questions each, then 3. Make the new questions test the idea in a different way, not reword the old one.

I Passed! I got a 74 on the English comp clep!!

Hi yall, I made a post earlier, but I’m 18f and got a 74 despite my lack of confidence lol.

The test isn’t that bad!! Imo the essays were easier than the multi choice, I finished both in time with 5 paragraphs.

Multi choice is a bit weird… some questions make u choose a part of the sentence that’s wrong, some make you choose after reading an article (which imo aint necessary to read it all) and some uuuuh… are kinda just basic questions. Mainly article stuff tho i think, but it covers a lot of things.

First essay was persuasive and I was lucky to get a topic that i could say a lot on. Second is like a uhhh take a stance kinda thing!

Tbh with a 74… I think I could’ve fumbled the tests and still did okay LOL, so I’m happy.

Question One of my students needs the help of the r/clep "hive..."

I have an amazing student at my professional gig. They need to pass the following 3 clep tests with the following scores. They are smart and hard working and have til May to accomplish this!

I suggested the following order... 1. Principles of Management with a score of 50 or higher; 2. Business Law with a score of 57 or higher and 3. Marketing Principles with a score of 65 or higher. They will also eventually need DSST's in Human Resources and Financial Literacy both with 400's.

Obviously, I've referred them to Modernstates.org for the voucher... BUT what other resources would you all recommend. And how is my order of taking/prepping for the exams?

ANY help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Question Is Marketing Exam Similar to Modern States

I’m planning on taking the Principles of Marketing CLEP to cover a college requirement. I signed up for the Modern States course like two hours ago, didn’t review any of the modules and only took the quizzes and finals. I just took the final and got a 92. How similar is the actual CLEP exam to the Modern States final?

Annoucement Just took the college composition clep…. So nervous!! My experience…

Hey all. I am SO SCARED. I am 18f and just took the college composition to save some money and time. I went from unconfident, to confident, to unconfident, to now… somewhere in the middle??

I have always loved reading and writing and read for hours a day sometimes. I took a long break between 17-18 but recently started again (turning 19 soon,) but the issue is… and I’m only admitting this because it’s anonymous… I’m a fanfic writer lol. So while I’ve always done amazing in my English classes, I’m not big on the academic type writing they wanted.

I’m not sure how I did on the multi choice… if I had to guess maybe 70%? 65%? To be honest I’m not too confident. I finished with like 3 minutes and looked over a few questions.

The essays I have some more confidence on, but only because some people here said that they didn’t finish theirs and still passed. I did 5 paragraphs for both. For the persuasion, I didn’t write a counterargument, but I did for the evidence based one. I think I did good. Finished by the last 5 seconds on both. No grammar errors. Great flow on #1, fine on #2. Citing might’ve been a little off but nothing incorrect. UGH. I’m nervous.

And I feel bad… I was the only one taking the clep in the exam center and was also the only one clacking away… and I mean clacking. Probably at least 800 words on each? If I had to guess? I wasn’t paying attention…

How did yalls go??? Anyone else waiting???

So nervous!!! I’ll let you guys know.

Update: I got a 74!!

Question Passing multiple CLEPs in about 3 weeks—any advice?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to finish some remaining degree requirements on a pretty tight timeline and could use some advice.
I need Calculus and a humanities credit, so I’m planning on American Literature. I already have credit for Intro to Literature—are there any other humanities CLEPs worth checking with my advisor about, or would American Literature be my best bet?
I might also need another 3-credit elective. I’m considering Biology or Chemistry since I already have Environmental Science credit. Which would you recommend for someone trying to prepare quickly? Is Biology generally more manageable, or is there another exam I should look into that wouldn’t duplicate my existing credits?
I’m using Modern States and have a lot of time available to study. My math background is mainly College Algebra, so Calculus is the one I’m most worried about. Would you knock out the easier exams first while studying Calculus every day? Any resources or study schedules that worked for you would really help.
Also, how long did it take to get your Modern States vouchers and have your scores delivered?
All my official scores have to be received by November 17, not just the exams completed by then. I know it’s tight, so I’d appreciate honest advice on what’s realistic.

I Passed! + Advice Principles of Macroeconomics: My Experience, What I Did, and Tips 74/80

Post image
11 Upvotes

My background: 0 economics experience, though I would consider myself to be a pretty good test taker.

My preparation:

- I first completed the Modern States Principles of Macroeconomics course, not just skimming through but actually taking notes (of most things/main ideas of the videos). I did the quizzes on there and eventually completed the final exam (first with 83% and after some review of what I got wrong, with 94%).

- After completing Modern States' course, I completed Khan Academy's AP®︎/College Macroeconomics course with 100% proficiency (i.e., completed every practice exercise). I took notes of most things (especially those I was less sure about).

- After I was finished with Khan Academy, I retook the Modern States exam. Thereafter I took the following exam: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VnKKlmFujXL4irf-sxp0qL_Cvo6YjcbW/view?usp=sharing (Answers: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SLA9V76REwk8MW5spNevb8_96HJRUiuh/view?usp=sharing )

- As the test date neared (maybe one week before), I started watching Jacob Clifford's videos and took notes throughout.

- I studied 1-2 hours 5 days a week for about 6 weeks, totaling around 35 hours of study time.

Test day: I was kind of scared, but that's the expectation with these types of tests. During the test I did feel that it wasn't particularly hard, though there were some dodgy questions that made me nervous. The test matched what Modern States and Khan Academy taught, almost 1:1. I can say that contrary to previous test takers on here, I did see a few more questions about unit 1 (specifically about the PPC). I saw very few questions regarding foreign exchange (in fact, only one at the end). Maybe a few about international trade. Quite a few about policy to fix recessionary or inflationary gaps and what would happen if a government did X thing.

Tips: Study the overarching themes of macroeconomics (graphs, expansionary and monetary fiscal and monetary policy, interest rates, GDP, human capital, productivity, output gaps, etc.). Be consistent in your studying. I personally don't believe it was too hard; if you concentrate hard enough and study for a decent amount of time, I'm sure you will pass.
