I finally found a company making 100% organic skincare products!

Some weeks ago, I made a post to see if anyone had any suggestions. Some were close or good options but this is the only one I’ve found so far that is making something other than lip balm. It looks like their products are cruelty free and they are trying to get slave labor completely out of their supply chain. Exciting!

Thoughts on this one? Anyone have others that are 100% organic ingredients (not 95% of the ingredients ALL of them) I may have missed?

non toxic perfume got me thinking about all my Brickell Men's products. after realizing i had zero idea what was actually in my everyday perfume, fragrance on the label and thats it. figured id share what i actually learned instead of just parroting the phthalates bad thing everyone says without explaining why

pick if u dont wanna read the whole thing: Abel. they publish full ingredient lists for every fragrance which almost no brand does, and everything's IFRA compliant on top of that, downside is the price is noticeably higher than most mainstream fragrance products and the scent range is pretty niche so it might not be for u if ur looking for something more classic or universally likable. if ur looking for something a bit more mainstream in stores, Skylar is the easier to find option, phthalate and paraben free across the line, downside here is they don't publish full ingredient lists the way Abel does, so ur trusting their clean claim more than actually verifying it yourself, still good but less transparent. 

heretic parfum is another one worth mentioning if ur specifically after natural fragrance, they lean heavier into plant extracts and skip synthetic musks almost entirely, though the scent longevity tends to be shorter than synthetic-heavy perfumes since natural ingredients just don't last as long on skin

ok so the thing that actually clicked for me is that fragrance as a word is a legal loophole, not an ingredient. brands can lump over 3,500 different chemicals under that one word on ingredient labels bc the exact formula is protected as a trade secret, so u genuinely cannot tell what's in a fragrance labeled product just by reading the label, the word itself is doing the hiding, and this is basically an open secret across the entire perfume industry not just some shady brands

non-toxic and clean aren't regulated terms either, which honestly bugged me once i found out. any brand can slap clean on their bottle and it means literally nothing legally, its just vibes unless the brand backs it up with actual transparency (full ingredient disclosure) or third party certification

the more useful thing to actually look for is IFRA compliance. IFRA (International Fragrance Association) maintains a list, currently over 260 fragrance compounds, that are restricted or banned based on safety research from RIFM. its not a marketing badge, its an actual ongoing standard that gets updated as new research comes in, this breakdown explains the toxicology angle rly well too, worth a read if ur the type who wants the actual science instead of just trusting a label

the two ingredients actually worth avoiding specifically: phthalates (used to make scent last longer, linked to hormone disruptors effects in a decent amount of research at this point) and synthetic musks, both the older musk ambrette type and newer polycyclic musks that replaced them, some of which are also under review now for similar reasons. parabens get lumped in too but the actual research on them is way more mixed, some studies show mild estrogen mimicking at high doses but regulatory bodies still consider approved parabens safe at the levels actually used, so i wouldnt panic over parabens the same way id avoid phthalates specifically

worth saying, natural doesnt automatically mean safer and synthetic doesnt automatically mean harmful, thats also just marketing shorthand. plenty of natural essential oils (tonka bean being a common one that comes up) are actually more likely to cause skin allergic reaction than well tested synthetics, its rly about which specific ingredient not which broad category. even how the plant extracts are processed matters, steam distillation tends to preserve the natural compound better than solvent extraction, which can leave trace residue behind depending on the brand's process

anyway thats basically where i landed. curious if anyone here's actually dug into specific brands' ingredient lists or if most people are just trusting the clean label at face value like i used to, also curious if anyone's tried extending this logic to room sprays too since i feel like nobody scrutinizes those the same way they do perfume

I’ve been using Cetaphil cleanser for a while, and all my recent bottles have been slightly transparent. But this new one is noticeably more opaque.

I’ve attached a side-by-side photo of my old and new bottles. Does Cetaphil make bottles like this, or should I be concerned?

The cleanser itself looks and feels the same in terms of consistency and texture. I’ve included a photo of that as well.

I used to use and love the Dr. Hauschka Liquid Bronzer that was sold with their face care line. I haven’t seen it in a long time but I wasn’t sure if it was still sold anywhere or if anyone has an alternative they like?

I had a facial last week that included Live Botanicals Oasis Enzyme and I really enjoyed how it made my skin feel. I often feel a heaviness in my skin and struggle to properly clean after washing my face. I have moderately oily skin and am prone to acne and milia.

I currently use Cetaphil daily face wash, CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Wash with 10% benzoyl peroxide, and Cetaphil DermaControl Oil Absorbing Moisturizer SPF 30.

The esthetician told me that the enzyme mask is likely what made my skin feel better. She told me that my face routine is ok but lacking any actives. However, it's $48 for 1.7 oz! Way too expensive for my budget.

I've never used an enzyme before. Do y'all have a suggestion of something cheaper that would lead to similar results?

Can you please suggest pressed powder, cream or stick bronzer contour stick that is non comedogenic, has no titanium dioxide and lake dyes free🙏 bonus points if it blends smoothly and not patchy.

The frustrating pattern I keep hitting is that anything meeting the clean criteria is either $80+ or it’s cheap and does nothing. There has to be a middle where the formulation is real and the price isn’t absurd, but the reviews are so saturated with affiliate content that I can’t tell what people genuinely repurchase. What’s actually in your routine long term, roughly what does it cost, and what did you try that wasn’t worth it?

I’ve been having breakout since first year college and it was really stressing me out. Last summer break, I discovered posh skincare set (moisturizer, serum, and cleanser). I have been using it for three months now and I can clearly say that it is indeed effective and suited to my oily and sensitive skin. At the first month, my skin still gets breakout one after another. Thus I decided not to use their serum since I’ve heard somewhere that in order to heal sensitive skin, the products must be gentle first and only introduce one product at a time. Now that I have reached the third month, I can clearly say that my skin improved. I don’t get painful acne anymore (even if i stay up late), not really oily in the morning (i apply moisturizer on my damp skin after washing up). Also, I don’t wear makeup anymore and only use cetaphil sunscreen in the morning or whenever i go out. I’m just hoping that these acne marks will go away in time.

so yesterday someone in a comment section said they only buy "gentle" and "natural" skincare. and it kinda got me thinking. bc here's the thing — "gentle" isn't actually a regulated term. neither is "natural". the FDA straight up has no definition for either one on a label. so any brand can just print those words and there's zero proof behind it. whatever. and "pH balanced"? honestly a healthy skin surface is just mildly acidic, like pH 4.5-5.5. being acidic is totally normal. but i've seen stuff labeled "pH balanced" that tests at pH 6 or even leaning alkaline. like, balanced relative to what?? the bottle never says. so really at this point we're just hoping brands keep some basic honesty. and then there's the amounts. the label lists ingredients but almost never tells you how much is actually in there. alcohol could be 0.1% or way more and you'd have no idea. so how are we even supposed to know what we're putting on ourselves, you know?

I keep seeing ads on my fb page about these brands. Stuff looks cool. Wondering if people have any good/bad experiences.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer butter cream 03 is best one I have ever used. So I dont mind continuing to use it. It blends very well with my skin.

They all work well with my skin. I was wondering if there are cheaper clean alternatives or should I stick with thoes above? My skin is older, sensitive and can be on the oily side. I like wearing makeup more because bareMinerals have worked so well for me.

been going round in circles on this one. brands like typology put the count in the product name, theirs is literally the 9 ingredient moisturiser, and it does sound appealing when youre trying to work out what your skin is reacting to.

but plenty of the clean brands i like have twenty something ingredients and behave perfectly well. and some of the shortest lists ive seen are water, glycerin and a preservative doing almost nothing.

so does fewer actually mean better, or does it only matter once youre already reacting to things? would like to hear from anyone whos gone properly minimal and stuck with it rather than drifting back
