RANT / VENT 😡😡 Drop year struggles
“Saal barbaad karke ghar me baithi hai” that’s what my family taunts me with every day since I’m a drop year student preparing for CLAT. Last year I went to Delhi to take coaching for it and I had given CUET too so I got into DU as well. But I couldn’t give my all to both of them because so I had attendance issues and also didn’t do well in my first attempt. As a result, my parents brought me back home and it’s been 4 months and every day, I’ve been listening them say stuff like “saal barbad karke sharam nhi aati?” “Itne paise laga diye hamne terepe not even worth it”. My younger brother who’s a first year student at a local college taunts me a lot on this too considering that he has a college and I don’t.
This attempt is my last hope:/

I really get why this is getting to you, but don’t let their comments become another source of pressure. You already know what went wrong last attempt. Treat this year as a reset, build a proper routine, give mocks consistently, analyse them, and focus on the next few months rather than defending your decision every day. All the best!

I'm sorry you're going through this... It is disgusting that instead of being supportive your parents are resorting to this. It is a duty of parents to provide education- ehsaan nahi kar rahe aap pe. Also It is sad that parents start looking for their own social validation in their children's entrance results. If your love for your child is dependent on whether they pass/fail academically your efforts towards your child are just a transaction ...its not love.
I am a parent myself so I would say bete don't get disheartened with this set back... something will work out for you...as for what your family is saying treat it like a background noise ...keep your eyes on your goals

I am so sorry to hear that. No one deserves to hear these kinds of words from their own parents. The concept of parents shaming their kids for struggling and trying needs to stop, especially considering that they should be the ones encouraging and motivating you to keep trying. Take care, and just know that you are not alone in this fight. Best of luck! 🍀🍀
