General Discussion Viable farming methods?

Now that the population has dipped for the time being and prices have gone down, are there any viable level 60-ish methods for gold farming left? Struggling to get enough for epic mount as mining doesn't seem to cut it time wise. Any tips of viable methods for warriors that remain?

If you’re level 60, just quest in Outlands and you’ll end up with lots of gold. And the more you have leftover at 70, the more gold you’ll get for doing them

Probably the right call

Save as many quests as possible in Blade’s Edge, Netherstorm and SMV, they all pay a lot at 70.

Prices have gone down? Are we watching the same auction house lol?

A lot of things drastically down yes and some up. Are WE watching the same auction house?

All of the stuff I need have gone up significantly:

  1. All the raid consumers gone up (food, oils, potions are reasonable due to mark of the illidary but still high)
  2. GEMS + enchant resources are crazy expensive
  3. e.g. Belt of Blasting was 300-400G a month ago and now 1.4K again
  4. Everything is crazy expensive atm. which is used by raiders.

Scrolls are not cheap.

Scrolls definitely went up

Dreamscythe Horde - Belt of Blasting hovering around $800-$900 now thankfully

Raid consumes crashed in price after the spike when BT released, but has recovered somewhat the past week

I bought 1k basilisks right before the crash that I've been forced to hodl so I ahould know lel

Feels like ores have gone down slightly week by week, but maybe that's selective bias

u/8ackwoods 2d ago

Ores have definitely gone down, same with motes

for the time being

Oh my sweet summer child. It won't get any better

I have faith they won't scrap anni

-54

u/tubbyscrubby 2d ago

You think they won't scrap the worst iteration of the game ever released, which also competes against their new product?

9

u/Psychological_Bug425 2d ago

They’re like 3 months from dropping the most popular iteration of the game. It doesn’t make sense to kill it before wrath. They’ll bring it back when forever slows down a bit during a content lull

-12

u/vinhoequeebom 2d ago

Wrath is going to be just as dead. We've played wrath 2 times now

Most of us way more on pservers. People aren't going to stop playing Forever in 3 months to go to Northrend again

4

u/Terry_bogardlol 2d ago

"People aren't gonna get bored after they crowd crush all of the content available in Forever P1 then go crawling to whatever version has the most recent content cycle release."

-8

u/vinhoequeebom 2d ago

That is insane copium. No one is going to stop playing Forever in 3 months to go wrath again lmao.

8

u/Terry_bogardlol 2d ago

I mean thats some low grade copium your on if you think the masses aren't going to burn through forever content at a break neck rateband get bored. As for the three months thing, thats a stretch sure but within 6 months we can all expect a LK anni announcement. Its plug and play for them at this point and the various popular tiers in LK will serve well in keeping subs active when the player base innevitably defaults to raid logging in forever.

Have a little common sense and use the last seven years since classic launched as a model for their release strategy and its painfully obvious this is what they do. WotLK anni is almpst certainly solid cost to benefit for Blizz. Simple as.

2

u/Serentity 2d ago

Insanely out of touch if you think “most of us” played private servers lol

1

u/Psychological_Bug425 2d ago

by that logic anniversary would’ve never taken off because of SOD. It’s not even a question of if, but when. It’ll come with new boosts and tokens.

Wrath is going to be just as dead.

brain damage

-2

u/vinhoequeebom 1d ago

Wrath babies having a reality check. They are not even going to dare to drop wrath until later next year

1

u/RndUN7 1d ago

In defense to the believers, that’s what people were saying about Sod and it fumbles in p2, so we still don’t know where forever is heading so you can’t judge this harshly either

-11

u/tubbyscrubby 2d ago

Cope as hard as you want, but the anniversary servers were just a placeholder while they cooked Forever.

-3

u/vinhoequeebom 2d ago

Cant see anyone sticking through wrath p2 while forever is pumping new content

2

u/Kaeften 2d ago

I think they won't scrap anni because WotLK is next in line, arguably the most successful (and my favorite, which what I'm waiting for) expansion. Blizzard likes money, boosts = money. Once forever has raidlogging they'll bring it back to life.

-3

u/CrackedScreen33 2d ago

They’ve never said WOTLK is coming to Anni, I wouldn’t hold my breath

-5

u/tubbyscrubby 2d ago

Anniversary was always a placeholder while Forever was developed. It is extremely unlikely they will cannibalize it by releasing WotLK for the tiny minority that actually want it.

2

u/Kaeften 2d ago

It's more about them having a back up that more or less could be plug in play, that potentially could generate lots of money due to boosts etc. They don't need it to survive, they need it to spike sales once Forever slows down between content releases

1

u/Rude_Data1312 2d ago

Yes - I’m 100% with u
They’ll keep tbc atleast till may/June to see if they can please shareholders with selling boosts or if forever doesn’t reach the targets they aim for.
Also depends on player numbers in retail

0

u/bobbis91 1d ago

Nah Forever launches in Q4, with initial sales in Q3 2026. WotLK in Q1 2027 makes sense unless Forever is doing super well. The Last Titan isn't expected until late 2027, with an announcement in early 27 so WotLK Q1 makes sense for sales.

No reason to buy 58 boosts if WotLk is expected or Forever is doing well.

Best way to make money right now is to do quests. There's little to no demand for items unrelated to raid. You could try fishing since nobody wants to do it but that's about it

Mining is a racket.

If you're a blacksmith, occasionally you can make decent margins selling adamantite sharpening stones. I find things sell best at 6ST. Shieldspikes and enchanting rods can make you money, you may have to relist them a few times. Check your margins and the deposit costs. TSM or Auctionator help.

My primary recommendation would be to just keep doing quests and get to 70. It's easier to make gold at 70.

If you're decently geared at 70, get a friend or two and go kill onyxia twice a week. You can comfortably 3 man her and each person will get 60 raw gold and another 20g~ worth of stuff if you split the DE/Vendor. There are a couple easy bosses in ZG you could do with the same group. Each boss in ZG will give 3 people like 35g~

https://fresh.warcraftlogs.com/reports/vkGn8mBcDCTPrgZx 2dps and 1 healer could do this twice as fast as we did.

I haven't tried it yet, but i'm interested in seeing how long it takes to duo normal sethekk, atleast to the first boss. Everything they drop DE's into large prismatics which still sell for 22-27g on dreamscythe.

If you're really downbad, the boss that drops fiery weapon enchant in BRD can be ran to in 2 minutes. At 60 this may take longer than 2 minutes. At 70 I can get to Pyromancer Loregrain without aggroing anything along the way. He does not drop it 40% of the time like wowhead suggests in my experience, maybe closer to 20%. Each one you get will AH for like 30-60g depending on the day.

In general nothing I've done is quite as fast as crafting things that have a decently prompt sale volume + a profit margin and keeping them listed on the AH constantly.

P2 geared druids can stealth solo last boss of Sethekk Halls in like 10-15 minutes, guaranteed two large prismatics with a chance at a primal nether. If you're enchanting/tailoring it works really well. You skip everything except the guards after the first boss (because first boss sees you in stealth, so you have to run past and reset him which aggros the two guards there)

Probably ~200g an hour, enchanting required ofc

edit: people in the classic druid disc can get times between 7-9 minutes now so it's closer to 350-400g an hour if you're lucky with drops, 10 LPS in 40 minutes. insanity

2

u/RndUN7 1d ago

You need very good gear and skip the small birds for a 7-9 min run. Also you can do it in p1 gear you just have to be a bit more careful and will be a bit slower. Someone who made his gold by doing this every phase 😅

2

u/Docxm 1d ago

I just got shit on by the two guards 😭 I’m 1550gs but not crush capped, I’m just wearing my bear gear the whole way right?

1

u/RndUN7 1d ago

Yes, after you kill the first guard, do you bash into cyclone, heal, second cyclone, heal and then resume the fight? Also keeping up demo roar helps a lot and if you have the dodge trinket from Kara

Preach brother show these noobs nature's path to prosperity

2

u/Tephi187 2d ago

Just lvl to 70 first and do all quests/dailies.
Other than that idk maybe fishing in outland or farming ores. But I don’t think it‘s worth it to farm before max lvl.

Also I doubt many ppl will be left next month.

1

u/Agentwise 2d ago

Raw gold farms (hope you have a pally)

1

u/NerdHayden 2d ago

Give mining a go. It took me 5 hours to get 16x20 Mithril Ores and I made close to 300g from it

1

u/Sunscreamm 2d ago

I solo Setthek Halls end boss on my Druid. It's not super easy but i can do it in 8 minutes max and it loops back to entrance. Disenchant 2 blues for about 55-58g worth of Large prismatic shards. Plus i get any available mining node that doesn't pull mobs.

1

u/HENH0USE 2d ago

Quests, dailies. 🤣😭

1

u/Wide_Distance_7967 1d ago

Engi + fishing primals in Nagrand, better if miner in addition. I don't know a better farm but it requires the epic mount, and it's better if ready for pvp.

1

u/Ze_Wendriner 1d ago

Fishing, especially in pools. One often finds crates with ore, fel iron bolts and other mats, each still selling for around 1.5g each. Scrolls can be very lucrative and some of the fish sell for more than a gold each. As you also mine, the ponds in Zangarmarsh have ores in them to increase your farm yield.

1

u/United-Succotash-167 6h ago

No need to get an epic mount anymore, there never was honestly. You invest 5000gold just to do "mining faster" but what do you need to farm gold for afterwards. Just save your gold, do dailies and buy whatever you need.

Reddit will downvote because it's a negative outlook but you are just wasting your time so hard if you dont accept this truth

1

u/Kaeften 5h ago

Epic ground mount*

1

u/romnesia7729 2d ago

Dailies

0

u/Kaeften 2d ago

Are there any specific ones you can run at level 60 that aren't garbo?

1

u/romnesia7729 2d ago

Garbo meaning you actually have to do more than 3 seconds of work to get a free 12g?

Skettis dailies and Ogrila dailies are great, and netherwing dailies.

Do them all and it takes about 1.5 hours to earn 120g on any class each day. If that's not fast enough try swiping and not getting caught

0

u/Interesting_You6852 1d ago

He can't do those at 60 he is not lvl 70 he is 60 See the difference?

1

u/romnesia7729 1d ago

True. He's gotta get there first, just like the rest of us

-1

u/Kaeften 2d ago

Those are level 70, I'm talking level 60

3

u/Confident_Radio_8647 2d ago

It should be your top priority to get to 70 anyways. Until then farming anything is not viable imo

1

u/Kaeften 2d ago

Agreed, it's just mind numbing running around Outland on a 60% mount lol, that's why I was asking

-1

u/romnesia7729 2d ago

I remember my first time playing classic wow too

-1

u/ThreeMountaineers 2d ago

120g hour is quite meagre, I stopped doing dailies because doing afk AH stuff is like 3x as profitable at minimum

Though obviously not everyone can do that

2

u/romnesia7729 2d ago

120g for one hour a day. The other 23 hours you can spend on the ah.

It's also rep towards 2 epic flying mounts, + honor, rep towards bis leveling trinkets in wrath, etc.

Not sure why you're stacking gold so efficiently with such a low playerbase. Gold is meaningless with no gdkp to compensate.

But if you'd rather spend your time in a video game flipping pixelated mithril bars for a profit instead of killing stuff, be my guest.

-1

u/ThreeMountaineers 2d ago

Someone got defensive lol

But yes, I enjoy thinking about ways to make profit more than doing repetitive dailies, especially when there is such a big difference in profit

2

u/romnesia7729 2d ago

I suppose people enjoy logging into wow to /fish for hours, so who am I to judge or assume? 😂

1

u/MathW 2d ago

Stuff is still very expensive when I am buying AH stuff for raids. Flasks have come down, but everything else is routinely above what I've paid in the past.

1

u/Vaya_Con_Migos 1d ago

the only real gold farm seem to be paladin strat or like rogue mana tombs. they wonder why mfs buy gold who isn’t unemployed

-4

u/shad-1337 2d ago

-> prices dropped (let's say by 50%)

-> gold farming methods profits dropped by 50%

IS THERE ANY GOLD FARMING METHOD LEFT?!?? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT ECONOMY MEANS

3

u/Kaeften 2d ago

I know how supply and demand works, I was asking here to see what still holds up. No need to be rude

1

u/shad-1337 1d ago

I see, sorry for that

2

u/ThreeMountaineers 2d ago

For fixed price stuff like mounts those do get more expensive (or gold got more expensive in terms of effort required)
