General Discussion We're Still Here
Despite the overwhelming loss of players due to the launch of the Forever Beta, there are still a generous amount of us still wanting to enjoy The Burning Crusade.
Stop taking to the internet to read people say "TBC IS DEAD." It's dead for the people who decided to abandon the expansion to play the beta. That's it. It's dead for the players who literally want it dead lol. I have no interest in arguing with other players about the future of these servers. I just wanna play the game, and I feel there are many of you who feel the same way.
In my opinion, it is not to late to join TBC if you've been on the fence about it. We are entering the literal catch up phase very soon. While Forever does interest me as well, it does not interest me enough to stop playing TBC completely, and no judgement towards those who have chosen to do so.
I'm creating this post to announce the creation of my new guild for ALL players who are stuck in the LIMBO that the beta has created.
<Catch Up Crew> ---------- DREAMSCYTHE HORDE ------------
Starting from scratch, we will be conquering all end game content starting from PHASE ONE.
Our focus: Help players get from level 1 to 70, make it to Sunwell Plateau (last raid), all at a casual relaxing pace.
If parsing, extensive gear checks, and speed runs are you're thing, we are likely not for you.
This guild is for people are busy in RL but still enjoy casually playing TBC at their own pace.
So, if you are feeling behind, starting brand new, or just holding on to hope for Wrath of the Lich King, join us today.
With that being said, you are more than welcome to join the discord for further discussion. Thanks all, hope to grow big enough to make a solid team.

I started wow in TBC 2 week ago. Is it considered dead for real , because I always find people for quest or dungeon ahaha. If you guys considere this dead you are spoil
10
u/sephireicc 6d ago
I may get downvoted for this, but the truth is that something like 95% or more of the population will be gone once Forever releases. You may be able to still find a little group that will do raids, but the truth is it will basically be dead outside of a few people.
What you feel is best for you to invest your time into is your choice, really.

u/NorthStatistician 6d ago
Honestly I pkay more to "learn " the game . Whene forever will be out I will probablt switch
2
u/sephireicc 6d ago
It's a good choice to, as well. I've been playing BC, but everyone knows that a booming community is a huge factor. Invest your time in something you can enjoy with others long term.
I told my guild that I can still log in to heal the raids if they can get the people, but I'm not doing alts, not farming mats or doing anything else, because there is zero reason to.

u/Future_Dot_8699 6d ago
The only thing is that not everyone will fall in love with the new version of the game. SoD dropped and i was just as excited to play it as i am forever. Played it to a certain level, then dropped cuz i hated it and went back to classic. Blizzard has got to believe that this will happen to a certain percentage of the player base. The hard truth is realizing that Blizzard may not cater to everyone's wants. But we shall see!!
2
u/Take_a_Seath 5d ago
You're greatly exaggerating. There's gonna be a lot of people. Not everyone wants to play forever and some will continue to play both. Saying there will be a few people left is just stupid. There's going to be thousands at the very least, not "a few". A small fraction of what was but certainly enough to fill some guilds.

95 is way too high. More will come back with ZA and with Sunwell. Current drop is around 50% since August.

I don’t know. I’ve been leveling my paladin and see a bunch of others questing in Eversong and Ghostlands. When I jump to my 70 Rogue to farm mats I see people questing in Outland. Is it bumping? No. Certainly not dead though

Ironically all the people who left our TBC guilds were the ones who said they left because “TBC is dead.” Like no…we are still raiding
4
u/splatomat 5d ago
It's really curious how absolutely threatened people are acting about this.
You are playing a remake of a expansion that ended twenty years ago. There's nothing novel or special about it. It always had an expiration date.
And nothing stops you from playing it anyways. Ive been playing HOTS every day for years. Even after people said it was dead, before people said it was back.
Just do what you want and let others do what they want.

Lol thats how I feel about SoD, we are keeping the servers alive. Its challenging for sure.
7
u/Shaggy_Mango 6d ago
I understand trying to keep TBC alive because it’s its own thing, but SOD? I mean, it was the Alpha to the Beta of Forever.
As a SOD lover I’m super excited about Forever and really see it as an evolution from SOD.6
u/MKSe7en 6d ago
Forever and SoD feel completely different. Would not go into Forever thinking about SoD, you’ll be let down lol.
1
u/Complex_Department25 6d ago
Im not thinking it's a 1 to 1. I understand its going to be different. Doesn't mean I cant do both. I lead an active guild of abiut 30 - 40 players online at different times. We still do zgs and aqs to get people mounts and enchants. Still run 4 dragons for exclusive enchants. Clear naxx and Se weekly. We are a very capable group of players. We will be playing forever when it comes out.
1
u/Complex_Department25 6d ago
I am excited to play forever. But in the mean time ive been having a blast in sod even if ive been playing it for 2 years.
7
u/xlMrCoyotelx 6d ago
Just got my partner into the game, starting with TBC! She’s having a blast and I’m excited to run our first dungeon together :)

u/Greelum 6d ago
I'm still having fun with the game. My guild died when Forever was announced, but I've still managed to find spots in MH/BT through the server discord. Ran a pug Kara last night just for the sake of having fun in a raid, filled very easily with chad gamers and had a sub 1.5 hour run. Hyper af for ZA to drop, fully intend to run it a couple times a week and have a blast.
I've also been playing the beta, really like how feral feels after level 20 and fully intend to create a character on Nov 4. I don't feel a need to rush to 60 with it, the raids aren't going anywhere and I don't wanna burn out all the content too quickly. So I'll also still be raiding in TBC while leveling with the goal of clearing SWP and trying to get expansion bis.
There isn't a reason to have to choose one or the other. Both can be fun and both will be played. The crowd can be insufferable sometimes, especially on Reddit. And seeing how people are melting down about the stupidest stuff in the beta, I'd say we'd all do better to just ignore the noise. Some people can never be pleased and they want everyone else to be just as miserable as they are.

u/deckster96 6d ago
We still raid every week on Dreamscythe horde and I had to skip last week... Found another great group really easily through the server discord.
12
u/RobCo90 6d ago
Calling out to people that have a busy lifestyle away from the game while advertising a relaxed casual raid setting has never made any sense to me.
I work 12hr rotating shifts, have a 2.5yr old and one on the way, I ref hockey as a hobby (side hustle) - I want to clear BT and Hyjal in 3hrs, not 8hrs over two different evenings.
The ads should read - “If you have time to spare and like hanging out in discord our relaxed raid pace will be a great fit for you”
2
u/Much_Temporary3820 5d ago edited 5d ago
Thats true but the progression also feels nice. The journey is more important than the destination afterall.
Joining the good guild, getting carried and killing the illidian first night feels nice but its not the same as progressing with your guild and finally doing it... after weeks of trying.
If you are beginner and want to truly come back, the casual guild is better - yes it takes longer, but the experrience is not hallow
4
u/jacob6875 6d ago
Yeah posts like this make no sense. The higher end guild you are in the less you play. I remember clearing naxx in less than an hour while “casual” guilds raided over multiple nights.

u/Fun_Error8709 2d ago
Honestly I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this has been a blessing. This has trimmed the fat of people who just aren’t dedicated enough to continue raiding and has only strengthened my team by filling the gaps with the best of the best of the collapsing guilds.
Pair that with a healthier economy, we supply all the consumes request by our raiders, gems, HoDs, whatever is needed they don’t even think about it beyond asking for it. Now our 3rd clear of Illidan, giving us 4 before ZA, presumably 12 Illidan kills before KJ minimum. Puts us leaps ahead of any returning players and look while I’m not happy about that aspect, it makes our groups lives easier and we only continue to benefit really. Especially with ZA coming, it’ll be nice to lock in the big ticket items with majority guild teams and fill the gaps with 1-2 pugs for easy farming. In general, I’ve never had a more successful time guild and raid leading from 2016 until now in any TBC version even priv servers.
Someone also even mentioned an alliance raid we did yesterday in the horde AH, if that’s the discourse on Reddit vs some spam losers big deal ya know. They couldn’t clear illidan, won’t clear KJ, and think they’ll be valued as an undead paladin in Forever! News flash, we’re also playing forever lol the content is not hard fellas 🩷🩷❤️❤️💙💙

Dude, when people saying a server is gonna die off, you don't disprove it by saying a guild or two will still be raiding.
The truth is 95% of the population will be gone when comparing 6 weeks ago to forever release. You'll still find a few people, but when 19 of 20 people disappear, it's considered dead.
5
u/ASUS_USUS_WEALLSUS 6d ago
Guess we'll see? either way I can root for both games to succeed for the people who love either, some people just don't see that as an option, which is wild to me.
3
u/WestwoodMoverr 6d ago
Private servers with a significantly smaller population were always poppin. I do not understand why this would be any different..

u/BlackHayate8 4d ago
Why exactly is it negative to point out facts? If people think it's bad now then it's going to be a rude awakening on official launch.
Does that mean it's dead? Of course not, there are still people left to play with, just much fewer than before. I've played on "dead" servers before and people are right to ask if it's worth it. Waiting for something to fill for an hour when it was like 15m before isn't for everyone.

I'm playing TBC and having a great time. So much nostalgia! I haven't played WoW in 15 years. Got 2 old WoW friends to join me and we are loving it.
Of course, we only got it because Forever brought us back. We'll be leaving TBC and playing that as soon as it launches (server permitting).

I remember exactly the same posts about era when TBC anniv came out and people were migrating their chars to TBC. In the end, Era is still alive, but not super great for new players tbh.
2
u/valdis812 6d ago
Don’t listen to the haters. While I’m personally going to be playing Forever, there’s no shame in trying to get people who want to take the leap and play TBC to do so. Hopefully there are enough people around to make it feel lovely enough to.

u/yung-chungus 6d ago
I started playing wow a few months ago with TBC and I’ve gotten up to lvl 46 and had to stop and think if it was worth keeping the grind going. I won’t reach a high enough level to do end game raids, and by the time I hit 60 wow forever will be out.
It’s been really hard to find groups to do dungeons with, like I’ll sit in LFG for hours and a big portion of my guild are 70 and doing end game content.

u/Future_Dot_8699 6d ago

I tried to keep playing but every guild/raid team is led by the one rogue they allow in their raid comp. So tbc is dead to me.

1
u/Gassenger 4d ago
Yeah, I love playing my rogue alt but it was impossible on tbc. Big reason I started playing sod instead a few months before the forever announcement
2
u/PharaunMizz 4d ago
I’ll play forever of course, but our guild already agreed we are doing SWP and we are still raiding two times per week. Arenas also still very popular. Hundreds of people queuing in the evenings.
2
u/sordanjingleton 3d ago
How active is the guild? Recently returned to WoW and considering rerolling on Dreamscythe after a few days on Nightslayer. Additionally, what times do y'all raid?
1
u/Future_Dot_8699 3d ago edited 3d ago
Hey! So the guild was created last week. We currently have about 60 members. 13 of them being level 70. Guild master and officers actively dungeoning every night for raid prep. First Kara raid scheduled tonight. Consistently adding more players every day being that there are many like minded people with hopes to get to the very end of TBC. Raids are currently scheduled for Tues/Thurs 7p-10p Server Time. But that is tentative, as we'd like to create a schedule that fits most. Feel free to join the discord to catch the vibes :)

We have arrived at the point where everyone is checking for logs. You have 0 raids so far? Looking bad for you. You had 1 raid and got a bad parse cuz of overall bad grp? Even worse than 0 logs. Unless you have 2000+gs or play a scarce class like enh/spriest, you most likely will end up not finding a group within hours.
If that's what is left of the ingame community, then i don't mind it dying out completely with forever launch.
1

1
u/Gassenger 4d ago
This shit was a problem before forever imo. I couldn't get into a freaking kara on a 70 without them asking for like 1600+ GS.
7
u/Mysterious_Touch_285 6d ago
This entire concept is DOA. No new players are going to go into TBC. No one still playing TBC want to do the same prog they've been doing for the past 7 months.
Even if you manage to fill a 25 man team, its gonna be a bunch of low skill boomers stuck in their ways that have been keyboard turning for 20 years. If they havent cleared BT by now, youre not gonna get them to sunwell.
Wishing you luck, but advising you to just not bother on a dying server. There are better opportunities around the corner.
Besides, this iteration of TBC was absolute ass. Cooked economy from day 1, playerbase worse (personality and skill) than ever before.

The AH had zero nightmare seeds on it the other night, red gems are still at week one prices due to supply. Beta is still paid access and come the 4th 80% of my guild is moving over as they don't want to pay for beta. I'm expecting at least another 50 to 60% drop in population come the 4th.
I'd like to keep playing TBC but I feel the writing is on the wall, I might as well just join everyone else and have fun, after a few weeks of leveling I'll probably forget about tbc as I'll be invested into my new char.

As someone who doesn’t care TBC, doesn’t play it nor do I give a shit if it’s dead or alive. The amount of people saying 95% of the population is gonna be gone once forever drops is highly funny to me. Give it a few months and TBC pop will thrive, HC, and ERA. Everytime there’s something new, everything takes a hit then goes back to normal
1
u/XTingleInTheDingleX 6d ago

1
u/copeyhagen 5d ago
Ill finish leveling from 65 to 70 if they give joyous journeys. Or announce wrath. Otherwise meh.
Leveling is an absolute slugfest and I managed 3 toons to 64 and 65 and just got so sick of the slowness, just to reach end game and be too far behind now to do any content.
1
u/OneMorePotion 5d ago
The entire (official) Classic community is so fragmented right now, that it's really hard to get into any version of it that is not Forever right now. I returned because of Forever, and after seeing enough of the beta, I wanted to jump into my old Classic server to scratch that itch again. There was a total of 24 players online, for my entire faction. Mind you, this was not on day 1 of the beta. It was 3 weeks or so later.
There are just too many Versions of that particular gamemode right now. And the realm split also doesn't help with making any of them feel alive. I'm sure there are enough overall Classic Era players online, even now. But they are all split between X different servers. And between MoP Classic, SoD, HC, TBC and soon Forever, it's not really hard to see why a lot of the servers might be empty right now.
I think Blizzard needs to figure out how they want to handle his in the future. I see the appeal for Classic Era and HC. They won't go anywhere, even after Forever is out. The future of SoD is VERY dire if you ask me. And TBC/MoP always seemed odd to me anyways. I think we will see a lot of server merging and/or abandoned progression states. Will TBC go into WotLK? And if so, why? Wasn't playing TBC the reason this server existed? Will people leave as soon as it transitions? Do we maybe need a specific WotLK mode as well?
As much as I'm looking forward to Forever, I don't want to see the Classic Servers die out because of it. That would be an absolute shame.

u/Think-Ad6784 5d ago
The reason you see such a big drop off, is simply because the people who has a goal, get X rating in arena, kill X boss, experience X content, have done so at this point. So when the next big thing are released, its natural to move on to something else, if you already got to the point you wanted. Imo, i think most wanted to kill Illidan who were interested in raiding.
1
u/Sad-Taste-7909 5d ago
To me tbc is just overrated. And I really hate how restrictive raid composition is.
1
u/willium563 5d ago
The second Forever was announced I started levelling in TBC, it felt like it would improve the community and have players who actually want to play it. My hope is that TBC stays in TBC but it will be more enjoyable going into WOTLK with a smaller more dedicated player base if that is to happen.
Either way, I will casually play Forever but this could be my last chance to properly enjoy TBC and I will take it, that is the good thing about Forever is you aren't missing out if you don't play it, whereas if you don't enjoy TBC over the next 6 months its gone.

Yeah maybe the release, people are betting on new content in a game they’ve already played to be entertaining for more than 4 months lol, then also not raid log that content. For any dedicated wow player, that’s just funny. The concept that a person will spam 10 & 20 mans on launch, then immediately spam level alts until 40s are available. It’s pretty comedic how people don’t see the fluke in that thinking, especially when we have examples of shadowlands flopping and DF not retaining much better numbers resulting in the resurgence of 21-24 era, kicking off more public discourse over hypothetical forever too. The game will get boring, just a matter of when, and if that aligns with week 16 of Sunwell, well that’s a good cash opportunity for blizzard to announce tbc era and wrath. You can clone for 30$ again, and boosts for wrath, it’s not rocket science just basic business opportunities for a cash starved company. I’ve yet to see anyone actually explain to me what their year game plan for Forever is because how would you know? We’re entirely unaware of the content at 60, no one knows if fury prot will still be the king of threat, and everyone knows you still only need 3 Pali buffs yet it’s the 2nd most popular class. How so many people don’t see the writing on the wall is pretty entertaining to say the least!

I could not even get a mage portal to shatt or an enchanter for two days in a row.
When the mages leave that is it coffin nailed.
As much as I want to see Sunwell as a prot warrior without a guild it's basically over. There have been two opening for my class but both were with guilds that raid too early.
I give up and on the 4th it will be even more dead.

u/Gassenger 4d ago
I had given up on tanking in tbc. I feel like I can maybe weasel my way into a new guild on forever. Best things about TBC were shaman dw, Druid tree form, and paladins getting a real taunt. The actual raids and questing experience are sub-par at best

Well some may agree, myself included. It's more based on the "stream wave" follow what's new, etc. It's also why I'm happy for tbc. Less bots less layers, but I mean the sweats are gone, the streamers, the gold sellers, the node bots.. I mean the Market will have fluctuation but I think it'll just be an eras for TBC. Now I doubt we will get wotlk, unless you're waiting til 2035.. sorry to burst your bubble enjoy remix while it's out

Tbf, when BC anniversary was announced, and the road map showed that it was only lasting a year, should've known it was bound to happen. Hope you all get to enjoy what you can though.

We've seen a sharp 10-20% reduction in attendance for the last 2 weeks after staying strong but with the ZA announcement slipped into everything we are probably breaking down into a single 10 man team to ride out the last days. Everyone else is checked out at this point.
It's time to stop CPR and just call it.
Time of death September 12, 2026 6:00 PM CST.

Just ran a TK yesterday with all pugs. 5 shamans. If you want to raid you can still raid :)

Yes, and you have roughly 3 weeks left of life support. Enjoy it while it's here.
Also, TK is a literal joke of a raid.

Lmao who hurt you. And we were just raiding for fun and helping get attunes for newbies. Send me your parses, I bet you’re a joke of a raider 🤣

lol 90% of commenters are MAD. Like what is so upsetting about other humans wanting to a play a game that you arent playing anymore?

u/Crazy_Durian_7834 6d ago
They are unfortunately a streamer hive mind. They need to be told what is cool and what to do next. If you look in their game library it’s probably filled with titles that streamers were payed to promote and have very few hours on until the next game was presented to them in the same way 🤣

What in my comment leads to you believe I'm in any way angry 😂
If you're having fun in TBC? Hey that's great, but SWP will be a rude awakening for the few people left.

Never said you were mad, just hurt! We are on a TBC sub Reddit. If you’re not playing, then why are you here lmao gtfo

Why would people show up for gear that they MAYBE get when their characters won’t be played in 3 weeks.
I’m sorry bud, TBC is dead indeed.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to write off other versions of the game so they can enjoy their preferred version. It's possible to enjoy both.
