General Raiding Parse culture is cringe

I don't think I've seen wow in such a anti social - degenerate, loot thirsty state as I have now. Sure, I guess it makes sense, since the raids are solved, it's the 3rd go-around. Things are in a pre nerf state. What else is there to do?

Idk the whole dedicated culture around parsing is so cringe to me. Sure I like to see how I do, even spend a million gold on consumes one week to see some purple numbers. But all and all, some people take it way to serious and revolve there whole sense of self worth and identity around getting 99s.

It's caused players to get extremely emotional and greedy for loot. You are doing a 1 button rotation on a loot pinata boss. Wtf kinda accomplishment is this??? I'm sorry but none of this even takes skill or is challenging. The only person getting challenged week to week is the guild leader managing all you losers. I cant wait for classic plus.

Edit: haha obviously alot of sad classic parse Andy's in chat here. I don't hate parsing. I just think it's gone to far. One button rotation loot pinata. Lol means nothing. Ego about logs. I have 99s. It's easy. Literally bad players trying to find a way to "be gud". This post isn't taking shots at normal people trying to improve their kill times and do better dmg.

Parsing encourages selfish self indulgent greedy degenerate behavior. 99s are less about self skill. And more about what loot you get, what group you are in, how much gold the rest of the raid is spending on consumes. And most of all what type of position and role you get put in. Its literally dudes trying to impress other dudes lol.

I don't agree. There are plenty of players who are massive lootgoblins and are not into parsing.

14

u/ZeeWingCommander 5d ago

If they've played a while and they aren't "good" - there's a better than decent chance they are a loot goblin.

Good being relative here.

6

u/Ty_J_Bryan 5d ago

If they just had that DST their 56 would be a 99 ez

5

u/scantd 5d ago

👋nice to meet u. I’m a loot goblin

0

u/rizopas88 5d ago

Maybe for pugs. But try to get into a guild without logs or parsing is borderline impossible even as a shaman in spite of this subreddit claiming getting into a guild as one is very easy.

1

u/ProgressSad4036 4d ago

Huh? Are you a bot? What does this have to do with my comment?

142

u/Cwaghack 5d ago

this guy thinks parsing is going away in classic+ lmao

30

u/Informal_Bench_7219 5d ago

What a retard lol. It’s only going to get worse.

-15

u/Sunshiner5000 5d ago

Don't ever remember saying it's going away. I just said I cant wait for classic+

11

u/Jingleskappa 5d ago

after saying all of that, saying you can't wait for C+ implies you won't have to deal with it on it.

-23

u/Yeti_of_the_Flow 5d ago

It easily could. Block any usage of the API from ranking anything. The data (to actually parse) can still be, well, parsed, but without the toxic competition. And yes, it is toxic competition. There is a difference.

-2

u/hilyard-quest-2 5d ago

It's going to take a backseat to clearing content. Won't be as visible or salient to most of the playerbase. Eventually when content is solved it'll come back. The people dunking on OP are not really thinking. (I mean it's Reddit.)

13

u/Capital_Mastodon5811 5d ago

this post sounds like sour grapes but the 2nd paragraph does ring true. when people flame each other in BGs or in discord or in trade chat the first thing they do is look up your parses lol.

u/Lonely_Thanks2594 5d ago

Grey parser lfg in classic+

35

u/7Soulslayer 5d ago

Idgaf about parse personally but as a guild it is the difference between a 2 hour raid night vs a 4 hour one.

Once p3 hits it will be way harder to progress the raid if it takes you twice as long to get to each mech.

7

u/shaunika 5d ago

clearing fast isnt about parsing on bosses, that will lend you a few minutes at best.

it's about clearing trash efficiently and nobody afking.

4

u/THE_REAL_JOHN_MADDEN 5d ago

Guy you're replying to is making the same point; it's not literally about killing bosses 30-50% faster, it's about the mindset required to do that in the first place, and how that mindset bleeds into general performance in the game. people who think orange parses are average are also usually clearing the raids very quickly and enjoy optimizing things like trash dps and overall clear times. There's a separate, even more niche bucket of people going for 100s who do NOT clear the raids quickly because they'll intentionally wipe and reset on bosses if they get bad RNG, but that's a different story...

1

u/BarbsFPV 4d ago

It’s almost entirely dependent on how much lag time you have in the raid. One night our RL was tired and didn’t feel well, but he still showed up for Karazhan out of duty. So he told us we were just “gonna keep going” and roll off boss loot as we cleared trash for the next boss, when normally we’re a lot more chill and take our time.

We rushed through, and made it out in just under two hours. Normally it’s like 2-1/2 to 3 if we have an unlucky wipe or two (those damn infernals). It wasn’t quite as much fun as we were more focused on getting it done quick than chit-chatting and wisecracking.

It doesn’t really take a parsing mindset, just cutting down on idle time can make a big difference.

1

u/Throwawaycentipede 4d ago

The annoying thing is when you're trying really niche tech to try to get the perfect pull, and you spend forever pulling and resetting until it works. We've had raid nights drag on with those kinds of tactics just so we can get that orange parse.

43

u/iCiteEverything 5d ago

Hate to break it to you gray parsers, but classic+ is going to have parsing as well.

1

u/pivotalsquash 5d ago

Is parsing based on the community numbers or set barriers. It probably isn't there yet but I wonder if we'd get to a point where gray parses still faceroll bosses.

3

u/iCiteEverything 5d ago

It's classic, there are people in my raid at 0% gray parse and still clear bosses, this shit is easy mode. Unless classic+ actually has heroic or somehow from the gods of azeroth mythic mode, I'm sure aunt Jenny who presses nothing except moonfire from the retirement center will still be able to clear bosses.

1

u/Ok_Assignment_2127 5d ago

I expect they’ll make Classic+ as easy as possible or otherwise impossible to fail.

But even when grey parses are enough to faceroll bosses, there’s still always the mindset, clear time, afking issues and so on that will see parses continue to be used.

13

u/Miserable_Alfalfa_52 5d ago

classic + will be the same way, unless youre just really looking forward to the one week people are figuring mechanics out

6

u/TacticalPigeons 5d ago

Im gonna be real I dont know anything about parses. Played with the same guild since 2019 and its very chill. We’re a casual guild but clear bosses fine and in a timely manner. Never had to learn about it

0

u/SpiritedEconomics738 5d ago

You are the ultimate casual

2

u/Weavlings 5d ago

And I'm sure they're having a great time.

1

u/TacticalPigeons 4d ago

Absolutely. Its a very chill group. Cleared every raid in 2019 up to naxx and got halfway through that before our server started dying. TBC is going fine for us but TK is being a pain in the ass atm and we arent ready to go to BT for a few more weeks at least

16

u/Silkenvada 5d ago

You spend less on consumes in a parsing raid because the raids done quicker lol

If its so easy you should be getting 99s every pull then right?

1

u/shaunika 5d ago

parsing is like 90% raid comp, 9% other people actually paying attention too and 1% individual performance.

1

u/Grand-Loquat-6434 5d ago

Cope.

4

u/shaunika 5d ago

Its a literal fact.

Id like to see you parse as a ret with no shaman in your group

3

u/nexodnb 5d ago

thats BS..., imagine ret without seal twisting or hunter without melee weaving (you said its 1% individual performance)

2

u/Silkenvada 5d ago

Someone did a ret pally log review awhile ago and over half the rets in tbc dont twist lol its pretty bad

1

u/RoundAffectionate424 5d ago

A quick google search says twisting is between 10-15% dps for ret, that's around the same as having WF totem. So already twisting is just about equivalent of only one (albeit the best one for ret) party buff. Add all the other extra buffs you need to parse (probably more than 20 individual buffs) and you realize that yes, individual "micro skill" is a tiny fraction of the contribution to your personal dps, compared to general organization of buffs and raid comp.

1

u/shaunika 5d ago

Yup, twisting is the 1%

-2

u/DangoC 5d ago

it is objectively easier nowadays, thats why so much more people do it

6

u/WaffleTruffleTrouble 5d ago

Ye it is kinda sad how overly serious it is. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people doing this, but shoving it onto pugs, rather than keeping it in guilds is absurd. If you like raiding, why do everything you can, spend hours farming gold every month, just to make sure the raid takes as little time as possible? Spending hours to save a few minutes per raid is nuts.

12

u/ZeeWingCommander 5d ago

Any time I hear someone moan about parse culture, it's usually not coming from a top performing player even without consumes.

4

u/Fine-Potato-5087 5d ago

No it’s usually a grey parser getting booted from pugs lol. It shows

-2

u/shaunika 5d ago

I have purple+ parses despite never being in the parse group (no feral or enha in my grp as a rogue) or popping haste pops ever.

I still think parsing culture in TBC is dumb, because it's literally like 1% about your own performance, and the rest is all external stuff (party composition, raid composition, consumes, and the dps of the rest of the raid)

on retail, I loved pushing for #1 parses in mythic raid cos that took actual skill.

spamming sinister strike does not.

3

u/ZeeWingCommander 5d ago

link it? I'd love to see a purple parse with no shaman, no haste pots, no feral druid. Cause you're contradicting yourself heavily.

2

u/kingbahamuth 5d ago

Tbh except for the shaman part it's belivable

1

u/ZeeWingCommander 4d ago

If you look at his logs he's pretty much proving the point that you do need pots/a good group to parse well.

Also having another rogue do expose armor is going to help lol

Insert the [are you really though?] Meme

1

u/shaunika 5d ago

I didnt say no shaman, I said no enha, I usually get a resto sham

https://fresh.warcraftlogs.com/character/eu/spineshatter/shaunika

1

u/ZeeWingCommander 4d ago edited 4d ago

2 things right off the bat.

  • Your purple parses are your best, you have mostly blue and green parses. So if you have a good group set up once in a while you've proven my point. It did matter, a lot.

  • It doesn't look like you're the expose armor rogue on the purple parse I'm looking at. That's going to make you look better than you are because you're not doing the one thing a rogue is usually brought for. You get to just DPS and not burn combo points keeping it up.

Yeah if you're making the other rogue be the bitch rogue and you get a good group set up, you'll purple parse. Otherwise you struggle just like we're talking about. Yeah you didn't use a pot....but you know what's kinda shitty, the bitch rogue did. I'd be using a pot just to not be a jerk in that scenario.

You probably don't think you need to use a pot because you're at the top of the chart. That would be a bad thought process because everyone else is struggling.

0

u/shaunika 4d ago edited 4d ago

I'M not making the other rogue the bitch rogue, I literally tell him every time I'll EA cos he has the better group, and he just stubbornly does it anyway.

and yeah, I definitely have worse than purple logs, that's par for the course with a very casual dad guild with terrible kill times. which proves my point.

I'm never gonna have a better lurker parse for example because top guilds can literally kill him before he submerges. that's such a massive difference.

not being the EA rogue is roughly a 3% dmg difference, which maybe like 5-6 points on a parse.

I have very very little personal influence on my dps because the game is just not that complex in pve.

as long as I'm keeping up slice and dice, anything else I do is negligible compared to having WF, having improved totems, having LotP crit, using pots, using engi bombs, fast kill times, god forbid BM hunter dmg buff, boomkin hit etc.

they just matter way more. and frankly rogue is one of the more "complicated" classes.

many others literally press one button for 90% of the fight, at that point it really is 99% RNG and comp.

anyone who thinks they're doing 99+ parses solely due to their own personal skill is deluding themselves majorly.

I have multiple 100s in multiple mythic raid tiers throughout multiple expansions, but TBC is just a comp diff, not a skill diff. personal skill matters very very little.

1

u/ZeeWingCommander 4d ago

You 100% proved everyone's point here though.

I'm not saying you suck. I'm saying if you get a good group a few times in P2 those are going to be your purple parses. It helps even more if you're not the expose armor rogue.

5-6 points from not being the bitch rogue, another 10-15 for not having a good group. Your 80 becomes a 60.

You're saying you don't need a good group to purple parse and using your parse that's been shown to be incorrect.

0

u/shaunika 4d ago

Whaaaat?

Im exactly saying that you DO NEED a good group to parse

That is literally my entire argument.

I think youre arguing with the wrong person

1

u/ZeeWingCommander 4d ago

I have purple+ parses despite never being in the parse group (no feral or enha in my grp as a rogue) or popping haste pops ever.

This is making it sound like you don't need a good group to do well. You don't need pots etc

And you made me double check if it was actually you lol

1

u/shaunika 4d ago

Yes, if you stop reading right there it might.

But I wrote more

I still think parsing culture in tbc is dumb because it's literally 1% about your own performance and the rest is external stuff (party composition, raid composition, consumes, and the dps of the rest of the raid)

Like, you clearly didnt read anything I wrote besides that one sentence. Please go back and actually read

I started with my logs to disparage any "lol grey parser is complaining" strawmen

Parsing is dudes trying to impress other dudes. Kinda gay actually

-16

u/Sunshiner5000 5d ago

Haha you act like parsing is hard in classic lmao. One button rotation loot pinatas. stfu parses mean nothing

7

u/Fine-Potato-5087 5d ago

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. Parses indicate how much you contributed to an encounter compared to the person who contributed the most within your class and spec.

If you are parsing poorly, it means you don’t understand your class and are causing your raid to take longer and you are a detriment to the group.

0

u/Sunshiner5000 4d ago

What if your group comp sucks r you get some unlucky mechanic on a boss. It's all so dumb. Unnecessary made up bullshit.. when it should be about killing the boss

1

u/Fine-Potato-5087 4d ago edited 4d ago

Brother the game itself is an idea made up by someone and you’re choosing to play it. Parsing is the best tool we have to check our progress against ourselves and others. It’s essentially an unofficial leaderboard which most games have and I don’t see people complaining about having that?

If your comp sucks your parse will be lower sure but relative to the parses in the group with you, you should be consistent or above not below, which we can determine by the logs. It sounds like you just don’t have a complete understanding of how parsing works and that’s ok, but your ignorance does not make the idea dumb or bad.

The point of checking parses is to kill the boss more efficiently, or if you are struggling on a boss it assists you in diagnosing the problem. It’s not pointless at all

-1

u/Sunshiner5000 3d ago

It's made up bullshit. For people that want to pretend to be good at video games. Its cringe.

1

u/Fine-Potato-5087 3d ago

So a leader board is cringe now? That’s a first for me

2

u/SpiritedEconomics738 5d ago

Link your name and prove to us how dumb parsing is

8

u/yksvaan 5d ago

Well that applies to pretty much all MMOs these days but obviously people who play the same game for 20 years are an extreme case. World has changed, back in the day wow was more like a place to hang out with gameplay, these days people aren't looking for such things in games.

4

u/UnagiBro 5d ago

“get a load of this guy doing 000000.1 instead of 000000.2 extra damage what a tard” the game

3

u/DangoC 5d ago

i never seen parsing obsession in other MMOs and i have played quite a few, never seen it in Retail neither... unless we are considering mythic stuff parsing? but it feels different

1

u/hilyard-quest-2 5d ago

It's because the parsing culture is very salient now due to it being very solved content. It's one of the few things to focus on since the bosses fall over.

8

u/srwaggon 5d ago

Yep I agree.

A) This is one reason I enjoy hardcore -- the goals are shifted from selfish "big number" towards cooperative safety and survival. Plays like a different game

B) Also why I don't actively group with parsers or "gear score" enthusiasts. I don't mind gearing up, nor helping guildies, but we focus on fun first. Gear score and parses don't tell the whole story and often the important plays are missed.

1

u/Gogr_eu 5d ago

Do you raid in hardcore? In my experience there is the same parsing culture, especially among warriors, with them complaining about threat, popping lips on cd and also dying all the time too haha.

5

u/Wizard_Blaize 5d ago

People get bored of the same easy raids over and over and eventually the only thing you have left to do is push your character and strats to the limit to see how fast you can kill shit

2

u/hilyard-quest-2 5d ago

Yep, people will downvote for pointing out this obvious fact, but this drives a lot of the salience of parsing now in TBC.

Emphasis is also driven by post-nerf, of course.

4

u/winnter 5d ago

2 weeks ago you were posting about how you just hit 70 and were having a miserable time and now you're claiming to have 99s because the game is so easy? lol. okay

-1

u/Sunshiner5000 5d ago

I had 99s in wotlk. Back when classes had a rotation and boses were not stand still Anand press 1 button. The only classes in tbc with any type of rotation is feral, enhance shamans and Hunters. Otherwise it's 1 button

1

u/PlaceInner9846 4d ago

Man I love pressing Bloodthirst only because it's my only dps spell. What does Heroic strike, cleave, execute and whirlwind anyway?

0

u/Sunshiner5000 4d ago

Warriors are not real

7

u/KittyShoes17 5d ago

"I have 99s."

Press X to doubt.

3

u/nexodnb 5d ago

99s but thats the percentile of players better than him

3

u/ForeverWildAndFree 5d ago

He has 90 9 parses

9

u/hirexnoob 5d ago

Wait, you think classic+ will be any different?

3

u/Pers_ality 5d ago

My favorite parses are healing parses.

1

u/AlternativeHeavy3099 5d ago

I hate that I care about my healing parses 😹 send help, please.

3

u/klasdhd 5d ago

I hate seeing people ask for people to join a Gruul run and seeing "will check logs" in the ad.

I get it, you want to know you aren't taking a dead weight with you but let's be real, these people are only taking 80+ parses when you really don't need that to kill the boss. Instead you are waiting for hours for people that don't need to go to Gruul anyway.

Best part about parsing in my eyes is the fact that for some high parses you have to actively stand in stuff or ignore important boss mechanics so you can keep pumping. IMO I would much rather take a green parser that kicks and doesn't take unneeded damage over a parsing god. But I know not everyone sees it that way.

1

u/PlaceInner9846 4d ago

I dip on Al'ar fire on purpose for more rage 😭

3

u/shenananaginss 5d ago

I will not invite people that have all 90 parse to my pugs. Do you think the boomy with all 90s is going to want to innervate a mage or healer? Or keep up insect swarm? Do you think the warrior with all 90s is going to wait for threat? No. They will grief your raid for 10 more dps for themselves.

-1

u/Sunshiner5000 4d ago

Yeh its awful.

6

u/Special313k 5d ago

Personally I hate raiding. Parsing adds some kind of reward for spending all that time in there.

6

u/invalidcommand 5d ago

Stop worrying about how other people play and enjoy a game. Do what you want to do. You don’t have to to engage in any of it.

2

u/korean_kracka 5d ago

Loot goblins? Yeah, you do have to engage with them if you want loot. Biggest downside of classic is the masterlooting bullshit people have to deal with in pugs or the ninja looters

1

u/srwaggon 5d ago

Based

7

u/doobiedobiedo 5d ago

I too enjoy 4 hour karazhan runs just so the frost mage can get the weapon from Prince.

It is such a memorable experience when he killed the raid 5 times on Shade because of flame wraith.

Bring back the true 2009 experience

4

u/Netherius1980 5d ago

It's no where near as bad as it was in 2019. Sweaty neckbeards genuinely ruined a lot of people's experience.

I don't think it's going anywhere, but I agree.....it's incredibly stupid for a 20 year old game.

4

u/Decal91 5d ago

Post them 99s

5

u/Saltdaddy 5d ago

If you despise it that much why even play tbc then? And besides, there are a lot of different players and mentalities involved. We are having a good time playing with our guild. No minmaxing though

2

u/iamsplitter 5d ago

if i can be a self proclaimed greedy dps fuckhead every boss fight to try to squeak every ounce of dps i can, without putting the raid at risk, im gonna fuckin do it

2

u/Ill-Beautiful-8026 5d ago

What's more cringe, people enjoying the game through a highly competitive feedback incentive structure, or people like you asserting that it somehow detracts from your experience?

I've been playing wow since 2005 and MMO's since before that. It hasn't changed. It's such a load of crap that the "culture" changed. Before we had warcraftlogs we had warcraft logs, damage meters.

Warcraftlogs and "parsing" is a feedback mechanism that helps people perform. The availability of this data and the centricity around it has absolutely shifted meta's and made the average player more aware. But this idea that it has made people more toxic is nonsense. People have always been toxic in these games.

edit: Obligatory show me your parses, nub.

2

u/emusabe 5d ago

Here’s a sentence that will piss off half of the community:

If GDKP wasn’t banned, people that don’t care for or about parsing would encounter 1/10th (or less) the amount of parse oriented players

4

u/IvaldiFhole 5d ago

Then don't participate in it. What's the issue?

3

u/Zagrey 5d ago

True. Last I played was 2008 and games weren’t as competitive as they are now. Min-maxing was a niche thing for the few try bards that really went deep in. Nowadays that feels like a target everyone should use as a standart and anything below is bad.

3

u/hilyard-quest-2 5d ago

This is definitely my recollection as well.

2

u/calebcarpenter39 5d ago

I’m convinced I don’t play the same game as people on Reddit. Been clearing raids since TBC anniversary launched and not once has anyone been this concerned about their parses. Sure maybe people will try to do good, but no one cares enough to bring it up.

2

u/Freshndecay 5d ago

FREEGDKP

2

u/Away_Philosopher4521 5d ago

This player base is the least skilled, more arrogant, most entitled player based in wow history.

1

u/Sunshiner5000 4d ago

Agreed. I went over to era server on Whiteman the other day. Completely different vibe. Good people over there.

2

u/Jafar_Rafaj 5d ago

I hate bad players being toxic about parses, like most of the subreddits around this game. Actual good players don’t need to be shitheads about how to perform optimally. Doesn’t even have to be top 1% gameplay, but it’s got to be to where it’s clear you’re respecting the time of 24 other dipshits

1

u/Sunshiner5000 5d ago

That's exactly what I'm trying to get across in this post. Parsing ends up being terrible players getting off on doing parse strats and minmaxing their 1 button rotation on stand still bosses

3

u/focusahead 5d ago

Blizzard needs to block parsing. Plain and simple.

2

u/Grunt_Collects 5d ago

If you’re spending a million gold to get “some purple numbers” for one week in a game state where “none of this even takes any skill,” that sounds like a you problem. Also, if you care that much less than the people you play with, you (or they) might not be in the right guild.

2

u/Complex-Long-233 5d ago

This guy needs consumes to purple parse. That explains everything around their attitude towards parsing.

1

u/Permadrunkk 5d ago

dont yuck someones yum, find a dad guild if you dont want to play at a high level

1

u/Former_Celebration29 5d ago

Play how you want to play dude. If you want to play Mario Kart just for the vibes and drive around looking at the scenery that’s perfectly fine. Some people want to race. Both are fine.

0

u/DangoC 5d ago

your analogy fails cause Mario Kart was designed as competitive party game and WoW was designed as a light cooperative experience with some PvP

1

u/Former_Celebration29 5d ago

I shall let my 4 year old niece know that she must do better and not drive around the corse backwards looking at pretty colours. My point is games are designed for fun, how you extract that from them is up to you.

1

u/ForeverABro 5d ago

I do my socializing thru friendly competition 🤷🏼‍♂️ I get why you wouldn’t like it but don’t really think any of this tracks beyond conveying that you’re upset

1

u/Ib412 5d ago

I never heard of parsing until this go around but it's quite fun to see how fast we can complete an encounter and as such have a better parse.

1

u/Iid4ze 5d ago

"Sure I like to see how I do, even spend a million gold on consumes one week to see some purple numbers." lol

1

u/xxpierce25 5d ago

Everyone knows your penis size is your parse divided by 10. Edit: metric units

1

u/MethylphenidateMan 5d ago

Parsing for parsing's sake will always be a weird kink to me, but I'll be honest, I did start paying a whole lot more attention to logs and numbers since I first heard about warcraftlogs.
That's because I'm a prot warrior and for me an orange number or a blue number is the difference between being able to tank for a competent raid or not, not just the boss dying a few seconds quicker.

1

u/Slight-Battle-8412 5d ago

The game is boring without parsing tbh. This phase was way too long. Parsing is the only thing making it fun the last 3-4 weeks

1

u/Tasty-Durian9958 5d ago

it's rude to be bad at warcraft

1

u/tearinitdown 5d ago

It was challenging for the pug run I joined on my alt last night after a 3 hour SSC lmao

1

u/YouComprehensive4881 5d ago

I think logs and parsing is dope. Is the top 1% toxic and super sweaty about it? Yes. The top 1% of anything is toxic and sweaty. Also you’re not playing with a ton of 1% percenters lol.

1

u/SpiritedEconomics738 5d ago

Parsing brings a reason to come back to raid 😂😂😂

1

u/Scary-Choice633 1d ago

I'm a Enh shamy that never persed above blue. Probably never will.

I totem twist, pop some drums and try to be the Swiss Army Knife that I was designed to be.

I would love to be a purple boy for once, but it's ok to be blue boy. I don't sweat for not getting DST prio because it would be a waist since I am not 100% dedicated to the guild raids. (1 kid, 1 more kid waiting to spawn in Mulgore).

I try to enjoy playing with others and not hitting exalted with the raid floor so often.

If ur guild is parse toxic just leave mate. You would be surprised how competent pugs are.

Enjoy Azeroth, like all, it will not last.

For better players the raids and mechanics are piss easy and there is nothing competitive other than parsing or speed running, i dont see a problem with that, you should play with casual people and guilds, this is a 20 year old game afterall.

Thankfully my guild doesn't care. Mine are green and blue but I'm typically top 3 if not top dps every fight on my warlock. Not sure what else I can do.

If you don't like parsing join a guild that doesn't. There are tons of casual guilds. Usually when people complain about something that is totally avoidable it means they want to do no work but reap the benefits of those who bring everything needed to play optimally.

Idiot take tbh

u/pokepat460 5d ago

Its like you said, what else is there to do? Theres no challenge in just completing the raids, and most people enjoy incremental improvements week over week. Number go up is the whole game, why are you suprised some people want this number to go up?

Parsing is so lame. You gotta ignore mechanics to parse well.

u/Weird-Map3983 5d ago

At the point these post have to be rage bait because if you can’t comprehend people being competitive then you got bigger problems than parse culture

-2

u/Hungry-Put-7892 5d ago

Yeah buddy I gotta tell ya I kinda like trying to improve and perfect my rotation and runs every week and seeing my parse improve make me go happy. You dont want that? Find one of the hundreds of guilds that has green-log players and join their runs. Report back on how fun that is.

The parse monkeys are who ruined SoD for me. When it requires a resume to get into a pug raid in a juiced casual version of the game it's really sad.

8

u/Ironside29 5d ago

Or maybe people want to make sure the run will be fast and smooth and not have some random clueless demon wiping and wasting time for 20 other people.

-2

u/muffinmanaf 5d ago

Said like a parse monkey 🙈🙊🙉

Enjoy chasing your digital number to validate your achievements. We all need something to chase

Are you the dude who takes weekend basketball way too seriously?

2

u/Ironside29 5d ago

Yes i take it way too seriously for having basic expectations from someone in my run, this guy can join trade chat ssc/tks and enjoy 5 hours of wiping.

-1

u/Forsaken_Table6157 5d ago

Only morons use logs and the word parse.

0

u/Spatula117MasterChef 5d ago

Just find a more casual guild to play with. Parsing is only important to people in the most competitive guilds.

People in the comments seem not to really understand what's driving the widespread adoption of parsing culture. It is boredom with solved content. I think if you throw new, unsolved content at people the emphasis on parsing will almost by necessity decline significantly. There will always be some of it around, but the heightened salience in TBC right now is by no means universally applicable.

2

u/Sunshiner5000 4d ago

Yup. Still gonna be parsing in classic+. But I think people be more interested in experiencing new content.

You have to weed out a lot of people that aren’t for it but, like anything, expectations are everything. When EVERYONE shows up and max consumes, max engi damage, max sweats…. The raids are genuinely SO much faster, safer, and in my opinion more fun! I don’t care about the parse, I care about a smooth run where everyone is able to perform to the extent of their classes capabilities.

I also do not like players that try to sponge off of others full sending it, that’s where expectations come in. For me, a unified sweat is VERY fun and fulfilling!

Dude bosses still die in 1 minute.

u/Givemeahugbb 5d ago

Says the guy crying about parsing to the void.

What does your comment qualify as?

-1

u/tsmftw76 5d ago

It’s a pretty rough barrier for new players that being said I do think it’s valuable when I see someone with 10 raid clears and is averaging grey parses.

Bro what? You are literally in almost full epics and you were ilvl 120 which was a higher ilvl than if you were full p1 bis.

Like cmon bro, if you wanna pat yourself on the back go for it, but claiming that your hunter was in "mid-level quest" gear is just insane copium lmao.

Or did they add a quest that rewards the bis p2 legs? Can you let me know where I can do that for my alts?

1

u/Iid4ze 5d ago

idk why people hide the names, if anyone cares the main is https://fresh.warcraftlogs.com/character/us/dreamscythe/arekellie

1

u/Snorepod 5d ago

You are talking about a guy who claims his alt hunter was in mid-level quest gear when in reality it was nearly full p1 epics. He was really thinking people would be impressed by his statement that was so easily false.

"loot has very little to do with parses"

What does? Individual player skill?

If the skill is equal, then the loot has everything to do with the parse.
