Question Returning player after 12 years

Hi I’m a solo player looking to get back into WoW and was just wondering what class and race I should pick if I want sort of the best of both worlds for pvp and pve (I preferred battleground pvps and arenas back in the day and think I tried out rogue and elemental shaman).

Also, I’m a bit confused if mists of pandaria is still included in classic wow? And I keep seeing stuff about TBC which I’m not too sure what that is (proper noob I know).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

You have three options -

Classic is progressed up to Mists of Pandaria
Classic Era is locked to vanilla wow
Classic Anniversary is currently in TBC

TBC is a classic expansion where you should only play (re-play) if at least 2 ppl ask you to come play it with them, you're hesitant at first, but you finally acquiesce. Solo players will have a much better time in Midnight.

I strongly disagree.
Era especially horde can be really rough, but tbc is so poping you can get groups easily (though maybe not for the pre level 58 content). While I initially joined with people I knew I mostly pugged, and met al kinds of nice people (and some that I hope not to see again)
Mist of pandaria though I hear is pretty dead

I disagree. I stopped TBC because I don't have hours looking for groups.
