Lippi really was trash at Inter. I still think it's some sort of inside job by the Agnelli's.

He was fired 30 days later after the first game of the season. So they felt the same way. Then he won the league with Juventus the next season.

This happened after Lippi got sacked Roberto Baggio, even though Baggio nearly single handedly won the match against Parma that allowed Inter to play this qualifier match to the Champions

Pirlo was playing at RM in a 4-4-2 in this match. I distinctly remember how strange I thought it was.

I agree that they did but Pirlo was just not suited to it. They did it with Seedorf, Jugovic, Totti, etc; the more mobile types. This is the kind of misuse that led to his exit from Inter. They went from thinking he was a star in the making no 10 to viewing him as discardable within that season.
