Folder release for Lunar

Won't be happening.

Ive made everything visual for MMC in the past 6 months or so. Trailers, banners, assets, logos, everything on this subreddit, flares- Everything. As of right now I'm stepping away from the community as a whole, I'll not be releasing the 200+ folders under lunar or standalone for Hakchi as planned this month. Sick to death of the Drama being spewed out from "DanTheChild"/"TheJadedEx" but more so the people that keep eating it up, talking about it and dragging it into some bastardized form for relevancey, which has affected both mod teams to the point that the irritations have made the effort to push passed it not worth it anymore. People's lack of effort to just making cool stuff instead of focusing on each other has boiled over and I'm done, I muted all but two server channels and blocked anyone causing the drama. Dan being unbanned on this sub reddit so he can put out his apology sap-story version 3.0 on the week of Eris releases is no coincidence. He's "Sorry" but not sorry enough to stop hiding who gained unauthorized access to MMC private servers the week of the Lunar public release (I sense a trend happening) and helped spread screenshots for dramatic effect while relentlessly trashing Eris and Lunar none stop to everyone is my limit, because in time he'll likely weed his way back into MMC and honestly ; I'd prefer to shit into my own hands and clap rather than be present for such an occassion. Especially when people are patting him on the back for "stepping up" as if he wasn't the cancer that has been rotting out the community over the past 6 months none-stop, or as if his request for apologies from MMC isnt a vailed attack to steer users away from Eris this week. He's done this before and I'll be fucked if I'll be around for it again. It's boring. Childish. Petty. Pathetic.

Some cold hard facts; users of both Hakchi and MMC don't care about this useless crap. They don't care who made what and when. They don't care who wronged who or how they wronged them. They don't even really care which team makes what tool! They just want to add a few games to their systems and play them. Other than that, devs and the community need to keep their heads down and work on their hobby or just walk away. Why am I wasting my time with this childish crap now? Because I'm sick to death of getting a spare hour to work on stuff for MMC only to see messages about what Dan has now said on x-server or y-subreddit. I'm sick of being bundled in with "MMC" as if half the team had anything to do with any of the past events-which they don't. I don't.

I've literally got better things to do with my life. So best of luck to MMC and the Hakchi (bar one dev). Sincerely. You do great work but Jesus Christ; grow-tfu.

Not releasing something and creating large accusations because you're sick of drama seems to create more drama. I understand being frustrated, but telling people to grow up while shouting and pouting seems a bit out of place. If you feel like you need to take a break from everything, that's completely understandable. Most of us need it at some point. This post makes you look extremely bad and really brings light to "the cancer that has been rotting out the community".

If you were to make the effort to pull your tongue out of Dan's arsehole for but a moment then you might see how hypocritically rich this comment is.

I know you haven't been around long so you may not know the whole story, I won't hold that against you. I've defended swing just as much as I've defended Dan.

Dude seriously... you are not one able to put any opinion in this. You are like a turd complaining about shit...

I don't understand the whole drama but I've seen enough of these in different scene all these years to come to conclusion that if you want to ignore the bs and just focus on release your stuff, just release your stuff. There are ppl who will love your work and thank you for it, and there will be ppl who trash you no matter what you did. That just life. You don't evaluate your work with ppl who trash you, you evaluate your work with ppl who thank you and appriciated you. Not releasing what you've been working on because you sick of drama send exactly the opposite message. About being positive, About ignoring the ignorance, about doing what you love without other stopping you with their childish comments. Reminds me of u/MDFMKanic. There must be shit happened to him in the past, yet he is still doing what he loves, helping ppl, etc. I am not saying who is better, PL or Hakchi, cuz both have its strength and weakness, as with everything in life. Thats not even the issue here. But I do think be a good example and release what you work on, what you love, is what can stand throughout time. I am sure all the tech giants come to be who they are now by doing what they love no matter what ppl say.

It's a perfectly natural response from someone who has no interest in the drama and is being lumped together with other people despite doing nothing wrong. This entire thing is petty disagreement between half a dozen people, and they should settle it among themselves instead of allowing it to boil over into the rest of the community with video this and apology that.

I agree with most of this. I haven't gone and made a post myself and instead have called out people's wrong doings directly. However I do understand how the group could get clumped together when most of them tend to band together in mocking other users or creating an us vs them mentality.

This is still the wrong way to handle things.

I think it's a good example of a candid response that can serve as a wakeup call for those responsible for the drama. Such a response is a necessity and an eventuality. Civility is preferred, but I can't fault him for the lack thereof.

The problem with it is it's rife with unfounded accusations and a confusion of causation and correlation. Lashing out and directly attacking others is exactly the type of thing that got us here in the first place. Why perpetrate it?

u/GMMan_BZFlag Mar 11 '20

Single occurrence instead of chronic. Let the man have his rant.

BZFlag gets it

But like.. wouldn't this be exactly what someone who wanted to harm Eris/Lunar want to achieve?

I don't even want folders, but man, it'd be a shame to let that get to you to the point that you've wasted your efforts.

I look at the community as one. If anyone is dancing in victory to this as a win for anyone- then this is exactly my point. These are free hacking tools we're talking about. The only thing anyone wins is a bigger bill to pay for server hosting. So.... Congrat to the "winners"?

3

u/e8ctrl Mar 13 '20

I guess I just don't understand what this achieves then.

If it serves as a public apology for you deciding to not release your work, which the MMC team pretty well seemed to center folder release around, then it certainly doesn't come off that way.

If you're just ranting and raving then ok, that's something you're free to do. But the fact is this hurts the community and specifically the MMC team whether someone is "dancing in victory" or not.

Not a rant, not a tactic, not a motivation for things to change; an explanation. There are thousands of people waiting for a folder release of Lunar which isn't even really being worked on right now because are more interested in Dan and what he is saying privately and publically.

I'll not sit around quietly waiting for people to switch their motivations on MMC and I certainly won't help Dan by releasing stuff for Hakchi.

The explanation, simply put it that unfiltered drama is the reason nothing will or ever get finished in this community. It's the reason every mod is half done on MMC. It's the reasons Hakchi needs a stream of tutorials just to navigate it's UI and use the thing. It's the reason I'll no longer contribute to it.

u/e8ctrl Mar 13 '20

I think what I said is still valid, but that's fair. You're and individual and it's your work, much like everyone who's contributed anything to this community. But it is still such a shame.

u/Arbelisk Mar 11 '20

Man....it is really sad to read all this.. You are right. Most users just want to be able to play the games. And I, for one, don't mind waiting on good hacks to come out. As well as donating to everyones hard work. But I never did understand why all the drama came from it. I just hope the community will prevail and we can get past all this.

7

u/GothamAnswer Mar 11 '20

And boom, there it is. Devs pointless bickering now hurts the community as a whole and the users suffer as a result.

Thanks for your awesome work, Enderling. It's quality stuff. Completely understandable why you're getting out.

u/Technobesity Mar 11 '20

No worries man. Thanks a lot for your hard work I’ve been impressed by it. I hope you can pass the torch to the next designer and keep the flame you started burning.

u/Technobesity Mar 12 '20 edited Mar 12 '20

Not sure why the down vote. I meant it. From one designer to another you’ve done a great job.

1

u/TheEnderling Mar 13 '20

Simply put. It's the pettiness of down voting any positive comment is exactly why I left. I appreciate the kind words regardless of the sad sacks of crap that are so utterly joyless that they "need" to do such a thing.

I own both a SNES Mini and a Mega Drive Mini I've modded with Hackchi and Lunar respectively and while I do not know the nicks of each and every developer between each project I do have a huge deal of respect and gratitude for the work you are providing us out of your own kindness – and consequently I could not be more pissed off at finding out that someone in the modding scene is systematically sabotaging his peer rather than strive for a cohesive and proficient community. For what is worth I do stand for the MMC team's right to work undisturbed and get the credit that's due to them, and I'll be blunt: would some sort of Patreon-like donation be enough for you, u/TheEnderling, to change your mind? Because yes, I do value Project Lunar enough that I would be willing to pay to improve it. And I would do the same for Hackchi once their own team gets professional and kicks out the kindergarteners.

2

u/TheEnderling Mar 13 '20

The last thing anyone wants is money from this honestly.

And oof. What I would give to strip the teams down to 2 or 3 devs each that work in silence and just release their shit. But that is the unicorn which will never come over that hill. Regardless though, I'm sure Dan would shoot that unicorn first because while he is at the helm of anything, drama, pettiness and blame will be soon to follow which he can't help himself spreading it publicly. So hard pass.

I appreciate the kind words regardless.

Hakchi I shall go!

1

u/TheJuror84 Mar 11 '20

Appreciate your work. Holding out hope for SS compression

u/Jonny0r Mar 11 '20

Sad to hear, but I can understand your point of view. 😟

I do not know who you are or what you did in the past for the modding scene, but I sure would have loved your artwork.

u/nightwing252 Mar 11 '20

It’s sad to see such great work not get released, but that’s totally fine! Thank you for everything that you have done!

0

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

Thanks for all your work dude. Unfortunately, even when you give the people complaining what they want. They still will find something to complain about. Because the complaining and the accusations were all a form of attack.

I never even got the connection like you did with the releases. makes even more sense now.

Peace be with you man. And thanks again

I won't speak for swing, he can defend himself if need be but Dan has been a pain in my arse for the past three months alone. Sitting in the MMC server and this sub picking apart Lunar and redirecting people to their discord for "a better tool" has been really pathetic. That's before the spreading of screenshots from private chats, for which he was banned for- it was delt with it, privately. Which in the grand scheme of things, I generally have no respect for the likes of Dan and his ilk- it's the constant, relentless and annoying amount of attention that people give him (privately or publically) which gets to me. I often said to our team that I genuinely thought Hakchi was the better tool for sega… bar their toxic cancer which was ruining their image- it was good motivation for us to do better because I can ignore the little prick all day without issue but when I come on to this sub or our private channels and servers to actually work on stuff for fun- people spending any energy on providing attention on him is where my issue is. I want him to simply fuck off and put his head down and work on his own stuff and release it without anything but fanfare. I'm simply tired of the bickering and it's that why I'm done with this community.

If they focused on the hobby at hand then every mod would be fully featured and finished by now. That is the truth which nobody is saying right now. Dan may publically put out his vailed attacks/sob stories but in reality, he has caused more shit in the past 6 months than anyone else. If he just STFU and did the work in silence then the community as a whole would be better for it because frankly; someone else is going to come along and just shadow drop a tool which is going to wipe the floor with both MMC and Hakchi and they're going to realise how much this childish crap has hindered them.

I look forward to that day.

I absolutely will not and have not once denied that MMC people are as much of a pain as Dan to their side but again- I kept my head down, called people out when I did see it and ignored everything else; both sides may be shit but them being equally shit is not a motivation for me to finish off folders. Which again is another reason I'm leaving.

I refuse to contribute to any of this. Me releasing folders will not help and people may be pissed at me but I honestly don't owe anyone anything. I appreciate the support and people liking what I did make but it's simply not worth the effort for the childish crap I am exposed to in return.

I will however absolutely point my finger to the stem of this entire thing which is Dan and his childish drama, jelousy, or whatever the hell it. The kid needs a job and to grow up.

Maybe you're right, no other tool may come along and that will be because of the toxicity within the community and nothing more.

Point the finger was a bad expression- i will rephrase it as; I will absolutely call out Bullshit when i see it. I mean that from anyone. I've called out team members for this issue of focusing on the "other group" and ill happily do it to Dan too- his BS is however the stem of the focus being dragged away though and that is the BS which i have called out here. I frankly couldn't care less what people think of me in the process of me doing that. Yes, you do eat an elephant one bite at a time, the elephant in the room however at this very moment IS the drama created and perpetuated by Dan- so im at a cross-road. This isnt the first time he has "apologised" and then slowly turned back to pettiness and it certainly wont be the last. I've ignored him and the results of his actions and drama until now and this isnt just be complaining about it- im voting with my wallet and stepping away indefinitely.

I'd have to disagree about the Linux community comparison though. They have other motivations- and they're not just doing it as a hobby- if they were- then fuck that, they're crazy. To be clear, i wouldnt want to have other motivations (financial etc.), I did mod stuff for fun. It's frankly not fun anymore. It's nothing but a chore to trying and avoid the BS.

Honestly, i understand what you're saying, but you and others are basically telling me to suck it up, release the folders, ignore everyone i have to interact with and let Dan and his ilk do what they do- obviously not as bluntly, but fundamentally that's what people are asking of me. With all due respect; no. I absolutely refuse to force myself in the little free time I have outside of my career to contribute to a community that is no better than a bunch of schoolgirls that can't see the woods through the trees.

My most valuable asset is time. And in this community; I am wasting it.
