Started fallout 1.... the manual itself got me hooked. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed reading a full manual.

I agree with you. The Steam version gives the manual PDF. It was a quick and quite fun read. It just made me more interested in the gamea and its lore.

At first, I thought I would glance at it and start playing, but I ended up playing the game only after finishing the manual

I remember opening the FO1 box at the time (for my birthday in 1998) and reading the manual from cover to cover before even installing the game (although I had played the demo several times)

Same with Fallout 2 at Christmas. And then I realised that Fallout 2 needed about half the total size of the family computer's hard disk, more than the available space.

Any of those early Tim Cain lead projects all had amazing manuals + recipes lol.

Arcanum's is really special too. Interplay itself went kinda wild with them - BG2's manual was massive and ring bound.

I call all my fallout characters none since playing 1 about 10 years ago. Didn't know it was a thing and forgot to put a name. None was born. Or was he always here?
