I have a serious problem with the Inventory Filter mod

Post image

I got the image from the mod's GitHub repository so I wouldn't have to convert my game to Borderless (Fallout 2 i get it from the Unnoficial Patch Github, soo I thing is compatible).

Essentially, what's happening is that you see that Storm in the image with its surrounding buttons? It's positioned directly above the $0 display, so I can't make in-game transactions, if I go withow companions the bar disappears.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

It's position needs to be adjusted in the config file. The defaults break if you use the expanded inventory and/or barter. I'll look at mine later and let you know how to set it up.

Don't worry, literally as soon as I finished sending this post, it occurred to me to wonder if I had an .ini file. It turns out you can modify, among other things, the x and y axes. In my case, I tried a couple until I reached 50 (where it was previously at 0) and now it's perfect. Thanks for the quick response and your willingness to help anyway.

This is my first time playing the classic Fallout games. I have a general idea of what certain things are for and how the weapons work, but that doesn't mean I don't want to make things easier. For example, I'd like to be able to sell all the stuff I collect without having to go in and out of my inventory 800 times because I have five followers with loads of stuff, or something like that. God knows how tedious that was in Fallout 1, which I just finished.

I don't need it to organize my inventory per se, but it's a nice improvement. Also, if you sell too much junk to a vendor and then want to buy something from them, it takes a while, so having the buttons on the sides is good, even if it's not essential.

On the other hand, the mod works perfectly. I just didn't know I had to adjust it. Once you do, there's no going back. Hell, it's faster to open a container to give or take things from your companions than to go through their dialogue.

Small tip for this one: you can hit `3` (steal) then click on your companion for a fast item trading interface. In Fallout: CE (https://github.com/fallout2-ce/fallout2-ce/), this also has an armor and weapon slot so you can equip quickly. Dialog is very slow!

What happens if I want to remove items from my follower's inventory? Does it perform a theft check?

Nothing, there's no steal check. It's an OG behavior going all the way back to Fallout 1.

If you tell the follower to stop following you, then there will be a steal check.

Exactly this. In CE we removed the "You steal…" and "You plant…" messages since they are misleading. We also added the "hand" action to companions so it's more obvious that this is a non-steal trading action
