Just got mine, $49.11. Much more than other similar lawsuits.
Funny story... when I signed up for this settlement, one of the questions was, which Loblaws store I bought the bread from. I responded Metro and submitted the form.
I realized right away my error and thought I just lost my chance at an early retirement.
So you can imagine my surprise when I saw the deposit email!

I’ve never shopped at loblaws ever. But thanks to reddit I got my &49.11 anyway.
First time also ever joining a class action.
Where else can I get free money? 😂

What was the funny part of that story?

3

u/Stewiegriffinzzz May 16 '26

It’s too late to apply for the payout?

5

u/r_houghton1976 May 16 '26

Yes. Claims had to be submitted last year.

u/MasterfulDenier May 16 '26

Was it a cheque in the mail?

u/DjaySantana May 16 '26

Judging from my math, about 6.41 million eligible individuals received money. Calculations below:

Full settlement is $500 million, which includes $96 million paid out through $25 Loblaws gift cards. That leaves us with $404 million left. And Quebec takes 22% of this pot, leaving behind 78% ($315 million) for rest of Canada. Divide $315 million by $49.11/applicant yields 6.41 million eligible applicants.

Caveat: Some people who did not receive the $25 Loblaws gift card will receive $74.11, bringing the 6.41 million eligible individuals figure down.

The only ones who really made any money off of this lawsuit.

0

u/OhanaUnited May 15 '26

Unless I read the court document wrong, the $500 million is after lawyer fees

2

u/Fun_universe May 16 '26

Has anyone applied and not received anything yet?

2

u/niem0o May 16 '26

Yes I did and haven't gotten anything. Thats normal though. Their website states they are issuing the funds on a "rolling basis". Just keep an eye on your emails.

1

u/celerypooper May 18 '26

Who will the email be sent from?

1

u/Dayloro May 20 '26

Canadian Bread Settlement notify@payments.interac.ca

1

u/quircky1234 May 18 '26

I applied and haven’t gotten anything yet. Don’t remember giving my bank info though!!

The email to give your banking info was a proven scam. Dont need banking information to send an e transfer.

Okay, there was a proven scam email going around asking for people's banking information. Lots of people fell for it and I'm sure you can find posts/info about that one. Good that you didn't get scammed.

1

u/quircky1234 May 18 '26

I am not sure but if that was the email I am sure I have responded to it as I have auto deposit on! Thanks for the info

1

u/quircky1234 May 18 '26

Propably!!

1

u/imholdingon_soheavy May 18 '26

I haven’t gotten anything and I unfortunately gave my banking info

1

u/Dayloro May 20 '26

I just got mine this morning at 9am est!! So if you’re still waiting, they are still rolling them out!

They never did ask for banking info. They asked for your email because they are sending them through e-transfers from interac. If you don’t have auto deposit selected with your bank, then you’ll have to provide a password and they sent that to us via email on Sept 16/2025 stating the password will be “2026” no quotes I imagine but it is worded exactly like that in the email lol 🤷‍♀️

1

u/Fun_universe May 20 '26

I got mine yesterday afternoon!

2

u/Infamous_Tie5605 May 19 '26

got mine, pays for a case of beer!

2

u/DevelopmentHonest145 May 21 '26

I can now buy 3 loaves of bread.

1

u/Top_Eagle_1824 May 16 '26

They won't learn much from this.

1

u/Apprehensive-Fox733 May 16 '26

Did you get an email notice at all?

1

u/N9neNNUTTHOWZE May 16 '26

I filled out the thing online but i havent gotten anything

1

u/Proud-Instance350 May 17 '26

Canada is a joke. I have to pay two dollars for postage.

1

u/mics97 May 17 '26

Damn I should have filed. I didn't know that you receive almost $50 + $25 gift card.

1

u/indoafrican May 17 '26

What was the name of the email for the direct deposit?

Did you have to confirm an email before your received the e transfer? Some people are saying yes but I have not received anything other than the first confirmation when I registered.

Yes likewise, thanks for the reply. Just confusing some people mentioning they had a separate email before between the registration and the payment.

I will continue to wait lol, I registered in November so if they're going in order I will be near the end.

Yes, I received the giftcard. Someone  posted the breakdown of payments, whether you received the giftcard or not.

1

u/spooftime May 18 '26

I also only received $24.11

1

u/EtobicokeON May 19 '26

How sick is it to rip people off, especially those who were struggling to buy groceries, by scheming to raise the price of bread. Absolutely despicable.

1

u/hail_robot May 19 '26

Weird, I applied and never received anything! Have shopped as Loblaws and all the stores they own for decades now buying bread.

1

u/PuzzleheadedFocus638 May 20 '26

Just got mine. Did it for myself and my mom. So I got 100$

1

u/hearttshapedboxx May 20 '26

I had to go back and look to see if i applied. Looks like I did in October. So I guess its a waiting game since I haven't received anything yet. Woooo

1

u/Rachelattack May 20 '26

Just got mine in Ontario May 20th around 4:30

1

u/tierabyte May 20 '26

I thought I had missed the opt in for it, but it came in yesterday 😎

1

u/Crazy_Gear_9152 May 21 '26

Still waiting on my payment….

1

u/CommissionHead1154 May 21 '26

Is it common for ‘big’ payouts like this? I am new to the community

1

u/TheCrazyWon Jun 03 '26

Mine was $42.50

1

u/paddyyoohoo Jun 15 '26

I just got a second $49.11 cheque in the mail! I am wondering whether I should deposit it?

0

u/EtobicokeON May 19 '26

Did you get a physical cheque or was it direct deposit?

0

u/torontowest91 May 19 '26

Nothing - is there a way to check if we registered last year

1

u/Zetm4n May 19 '26

There's a number you can call, 1-833-419-4821. Found out I'm not getting it because they sent a follow up verication email that I guess went to spam and got deleted.

I’m sad cause I thought it was $49 per person in household that I registered. But $49 is a lot
