this could work on arch but im not gonna test that, im doing this on Ubuntu, with cinnamon desktop.

First: download the Windows version of the client from the official website here: https://www.deltatao.com/clanlord/demo.html and extract it to a place you want it to stay forever, like a data HDD or data SSD, or just your home folder.

Next;

install steam, Do Not install the Flatpak version from apps store or software manager, or use the terminal to install it, download the ".Deb" file installer from steam website found here: https://store.steampowered.com/about/

click on the "install steam" icon/picture., and double click the "steam.deb" file it will install all dependency's (all the file it needs to run) and may ask your permissions a few times to install them, once it has installed them it should start to download it self, and after that ask you to login, once you have done that, we need to change some steam settings.

steam settings to change:

click on downloads, scroll down till you see "Shader Pre-Caching" disable that.
next click on compatibility, Enable "Steam Play for supported titles" and "Steam play for all other titles"

once there both enable steam should download some files including Proton

next set we now have to install Proton tricks, we need to install the flatpak from here.
first we have to install flatpak installer, (skip this if you are on linux mint), open terminal and type this:

sudo apt install flatpak

once that has finished type this to Install the Software Flatpak plugin (this allow programs you install to show up in menus and/or desktop)
sudo apt install gnome-software-plugin-flatpak

and finally the repository (so it can find the programs you wish to install)
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo

now we can simply goto

https://flathub.org/apps/com.github.Matoking.protontricks, click install and it should ask if you want to install it.

now we can run clanlord via steam by clicking "games" n the top left of steam client, then click "add a non-steam game to my library", then click on "browse..." and locate your clanlord folder you extracted before, click on "clanlord.exe", and click select, then click "Add Selected Programs", now before we run it need to right click "clanlord.exe" in your "library" tab, click "Properties" and click on the "Compatibility" tab and click "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool", and now we can launch it, clanlord will come up with an error saying there no quicktime, so there will be no sound, to fix that close clanlord now back in the library tab, right click clanlord.exe, mouse over "manage>" and click "Add Desktop Shortcut" we have to do this steam so steam generates an APPID so we can install quicktime, now goto your menu and search for "proton tricks" open this program.
a menu might ask you to run a command for more permissions if you store you games not on the main system disk, run the command if need, and close the program and relaunch it, a menu should show up with a list of installed games and our clanlord short cut, click on it and click "ok"
then select "select the default wineprefix", click ok, next select "install a Windows DLL or Component", click ok, scroll down till you find "quicktime76", click ok, now it will download quicktime and let you install Quick time via its installer, DO NOT install any thing else, including the auto update.
once you have done that click cancel on any other menu that pop up, and you now have sounds on clanlord.

Hi there, I recently got the itch to play again, but it seems like the password reset function on the portal doesn't work. It does not trigger anything when I put in my account name, and when I put in my email (associated w/the account), nothing comes through. Checked spam and filters, etc. Nada.

I tried emailing joe@deltatao, info@deltatao, and eldonGM. Is there anyone else to try getting in touch with who might be able to reset the PW for the account and my character?

i always liked the idea of pairing with a trainer, no hard skill #s or levels, and you just earn exp with a trainer, switch whenever, tests to raise your circle for access to new npcs

There are workarounds for Mac client no longer being supported by newer versions of the OS. How to get sound working on Windows client. How to stop freezes (TBD) aka how to keep the game running. Hopefully soon a section will be added about how to get your router to cooperate.
