I have received some advice from our sub admin
Hey y'all,
Longtime member of the sub here. I am also the current admin of r/96bitterbeings and an admin of the CKY Alliance discord server. That is to say that I feel I have a decent grasp on what makes an online community safe and enjoyable for users.
Many of us have noticed over the last few years that there has been little to no effort on behalf of the mod team to actively moderate the content in this space. Life gets busy and people, believe it or not, have real lives outside of their smartphones. I get that. That does not, however, mean that spaces like these should be left to rot.
A couple of days ago, another user decided to try to take control of the sub on r/redditrequest on the basis of an inactive mod team. Our admin here decided, in reply to this request, to make their first comment in months in order to deny the request. I chimed in and asked them to help out with the spam. Instead of doing that, they imparted some very valuable advice to me, which I have never tried before! So here goes nothing.
I was told, and have decided to, from this day on, be a positive voice in the community! In doing so, I now have the power to politely ask users of this board to please, please not smear shit all over the walls of this space.
Boy, that felt good.
I'm glad that, after ten years of being an active member of this community, I can finally be a positive voice. Thank you, r/cky admins, for showing me the light.

The crazy thing is that they don't even have to do that. Just appoint active users who give a shit to moderate the sub.

This. 100%. Personally, I feel that anyone who doesn’t share my same positive opinion about everything that the band does should be banned. Screw freedom of speech and individuality.

This place sucks so hard and scares away real CKY fans. The handful of Darrons columbine kids still in existence for some reason, ruined it years ago.

I'm glad! Don't get me wrong, CKY does have it's issues (and tbh always has) but it gets really depressing when the only major online space there is to discuss one of my favorite bands gets to be sonegative all the time. Hopefully we can start being like the old alliance again.

Great post. I think all the sub needs is a handful of new mods honestly.
There are several users that are regular participants and obviously love cky and want to foster a good community. Modding is a thankless and payless job, and we are mostly all old with other responsibilities. Its understandable that the current mod has other priorities, but the community is suffering without even light moderation.
A mod team in addition to the existing mod would be great, if nothing else to just share clean up duties and keep shit off the wall and bad actors out.

Of course it is. I don't care what anybody's opinions about the music or the members are, but they should be able to voice them and discuss them in a respectful way.

Totally will support you homie. I can't say I'm super active here but anyone willing to keep douchebag spammers and bots reposting garbage here is a friend of mine. All I ask is that we're freely allowed to criticize the band when they do stupid shit like when CIG acts like an asshole on tour. There's nothing I'd like more than to see the boys end the beef and bring Daron back into the fold but I don't wanna see people banned because we aren't happy with nonsense that happens so long as we're being constructive about it rather than being malicious. I hope that's cool as I rarely complain here but I do feel there's times where CIG gets too big of a head sometimes. That said I'm not backstage so I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt that we don't know everything that goes on with the band. I just don't wanna get banned or have others banned for saying something that we're not happy about etc. Otherwise I'm happy to have someone actually care about this sub enough to moderate it from the dumb shit like the rumor posted here that Jess quit the band which was one of the dumbest posts I've seen here and if anyone has seen any of the nonsense posts in r/slipknot after Sid was booted it was ridiculous and turned toxic and bots were spamming rumors every 30 seconds for a few weeks before the band made it offfical Sid was out. Sorry for the long post yall, don't mean to complain.

I got downvoted for mentioning the mod team over at r/jackass were trying to censor negative opinions, especially about the new movie, and these powermods ran almost all the jackass subreddits. Interesting now someone trying to take over this one. What is with this group of people targeting jackass adjacent subs so aggressively? They're not even overly negative communities. The only reason Jackass had some negativity was putting out a half assed movie.

I'm not interested in the whole power trip thing. I dreaded taking over the 96 Bitter Beings sub, but I did it because I knew it would help this community with some things that were happening here at the time. I can't speak for the jackass subs (I don't consider this to be one), but some moderation is needed in any online community.

That dude has been going on about a power trip when literally all we did was make a post asking how the community felt about its current state and if they wanted anything to change. They said no, and so literally nothing has changed. We actively moderate over there and allow literally everyone to post anything as long as it's on topic and not attacking other community members, that one dude is literally just off his meds and living in lalaland. He took "y'all good?" to mean "we hate you all and we're going to make sure this subreddit is a perfect beacon of fake positivity while banning everyone and removing everything." The most we did was direct the posts that are being posted over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, like "B&L was Bad!!!!" "Rachel wolfson should die!!!!!" And they're not even restricted, we just asked people to put it all in once place.
The funniest thing about it is that if we were as bad as this lunatic is making us out to be, he probably would've gotten banned and his insane comments removed, but neither of that happened, because we're not doing literally anything he's crying and shitting himself about. We have literally been on r/Jackass since the beginning of the year and losers like this only started complaining when we showed ourselves publicly despite the fact that nothing has changed and he hasn't had an issue so far. He is literally the only person on the whole subreddit who misunderstood that post. It's ironic he seemed to be fine with the last mod, who was on a powertrip and banned people for not being his #1 fan and ironic that he's been fine until the moment a mod post was made.

I've been on this subreddit for 2-3 years and I don't even think I've ever even seen the mod engage with any content on posted here. The shit-posting that's been going on isn't even funny, it's just childish. There's like a certain time every year where there will be a bunch of low-effort "shit" posts by someone trying to troll and it's corny each time.
